Ok, have finally got my engine.

How silicone hungry are these things??

Does it take just a dab or a lot to seal up any gaskets? Or none at all?

Will post pics etc when i get done.

for some reason, I have memory of someone saying not to use silicone on the gaskets... use a rubber based sealant.

I can't figure out why I remember that... can someone more knowledgable give a better answer?

The orange silicone you get at the dealer has worked great for just about every resealing job Ive ever done. The price is spendy though.

"Three bond"?

Great stuff :aok:

just go to a parts store and pick up some "sensor safe" RTV silicone with a temp rating of about 300 (higer for head gaskets and headers) any brand should do and that will fill all your needs.

IN just about any engine re-build, you shouldn't need any RTV.. except in some special places.

yup just a tiny film of gasket sealer.

i do use rtv on places like t-stat housing etc.. hate those tiny ass gaskets.
