packie88
we should pin this along with some other links and locate all the information that people are looking to do a sas project that way people can easily locate it
88pathoffroad
There's not really that much debate on what axle to use for an SAS. If you go the easy route and don't change t-case and trans, you get a driver's drop D44. Plenty strong enough with a few upgrades. Lots of people have them. Good axle choice for a budget build, which is what most people want. If you want something else, you'll pretty much have to change transmission, t-case and go with a different front axle. Expensive and you'll pretty much have to engineer everything yourself...steering, driveshaft, etc...
Guest SuperSon
Doing SAS is a waste of money IMO but some people like it.I have not seen one pathy that is sas'd and doind some serious rock crawling. Why in the heck even do an SAS?but hey its their rig and moneyI dont think mudding and occasional pebble crawling calls for some SAS. Id rather spend my money and make my truck look like this
88pathoffroad
Dude, you have to be kidding me. You've never seen a SAS'ed Pathy rock crawling or doing hard trails? Check the Pics and Vids section again, there's some good ones out there.

RedPath88
Id rather spend my money and make my truck look like this One could argue that building your truck to "look" like the ones in the pics you attached would be a waste of money as well, unless you have a real need for it by actually using it for the intended purpose. Extreme90path
SASed pathies are pretty damn sweet. But I have to say that I will probibly never do an SAS on my pathy. SA up front is awesome for rocks. But really every where else IFS rules....or at least I think.

Only the axles and suspension are not Nissan. Stock engine, stock tranny and 3.7:1 T case gears in a stock T case.
87pathy
oh and those pics... Those are in iceland I promise you. They build those rigs to float on the snow. Low horse power and lots of flotation. Generally built with 4-6 inch body lifts and no other upgrades except tires. They are only good for deep snow, nothing else. Don't get me wrong, iceland has some bad as rigs! but i know the type in the picture

88pathoffroad
4-6" is a conservative estimate on the body lifts, man. I think I recall seeing 12" lifts being used.
