  2. Hey guys. So I know the front struts and upper mounts are different on the 'two model years' (or as Tyler says, 1st gen/ 2nd gen R50). My question is are the 2nd gen ones stronger? I was thinking, I need to replace my strut and upper mount (tore them up to hell over the weekend! Strut has 4k miles on it and is blown! Upper mount same miles and is screwed.) with the 2nd gen stuff instead of the regular. but only if it is stronger. It looks like it is, but I'm wondering if it would make a difference. Would make sense since it is a newer design. So what do you guys think? Jose
  3. did something get bent? And alex, if it wasn't long enough, it would do it all the time. If it's too long than it shouldn't do this. Jose
  4. How hard was it to replace the steering rack bushings? And where did you get yours from? Mine need replacing bad(sh!t moves an 1" to either side! scary when you turn the steering wheel and nothing happens!)! Jose
  5. This is why Im glad I have no emissions testing where I'm at. Just anual safety inspection.
  6. OK, so I need to replace my strut bearing (and maybe the upper mount). So i got a new one (got it from NAPA, its half metal and half ABS...Funny, because the last time i got it from napa for the oppisite side it was all metal...cheap asses, and i still don't know what the damn OEM one looks like! Any way, one of the strut bolts has the nut striped and wont come off. So i need to cut it off. Does any one know what size bolt and grade it is? also my nut for the sway bar seemed to disapear (i was wondering why that side got so bouncy all of a sudden!) and the end link is just dangling. Any one know what size that nut is? On top of all this I think either my CV joint finally went (have a torn boot for like a year now) or the wheel bearing is going bad. It makes a ike grinding, but not, noise when i'm driving. But it stops as long as im on the brake. Maybe its the brakes? i dont think it is, but i havent had time to look...damn! fix one thing and something else breaks! at this rate im never going to get this thing lifted! (and my poor 15x10 wheels will just sit in my garage...so sad ) Jose
  7. never even heard of doing that before. DAMN! I have to take a look under mine...Like I need something else to worry about!! Jose
  8. Tyler, you sir are a mad man. You should be locked up in a white room...ASAP! haha. very nice man, very nice...
  9. doesnt sound like a great idea. Just imagine it shifting when driving, then your back to square one with a bigger problem!
  10. Well the fact that the website is in New Zealand, Using their currency (we assume), And then you do the conversion, it comes to $1382. Attention to detail, my friend... Jose
  11. Well, its more like 1400, but hey, still bad ass...Just wonder how much shipping would be WITH insurance, as Ty said earlier (honey nips? lol) a mod I would love to have, but so sad mine is a 96... Jose
  12. very strange. Maybe your track bar bushings are shot? Or maybe you messed up the toe settings real badly! OR, you have an inbalanced wheel. Yes, that can cause it to pull. But you should notice a shake in the steering wheel. Hm...I still think track bar...or something is bent...
  13. How much did you get your shocks for? And where did you get them from? I know they are a bit pricey, but with a SFD 'possibly' in the works, seems best to get the good stuff now, right? Jose
  14. But then a company would have to make new CV's that could handle the angle, right?
  15. Screw the alty, how do you plan on relo the starter?!?! Thats what I want to know... Jose
  16. This is what I'm wonderign about. Everyone swears up and down that the struts are the way to go, but no one at all has said anything, not even a mention, about their rear shocks...why is that? Do they really suck that badly? Or are they pretty much just OEM style? Sorry to kind of thread jack (or maybe not, it is on topic, right?) Jose
  17. I have stock ride with 31x10.50/15 on the stock wheels. Never had any issues. What I find peculiar (sp?) about this is that 2" front spacer is sandwiched, and not on top. 2"? Really? Well, I guess it answered my question about his CV's handling that. And his rear ones are mounted on the bottom, not the top as I have seen before. I wonder if it is easier that way. I really want to do a 3" SFD (instead of the usual 3.5-4.5, if you can call an SFD usual...). Interesting indeed... Jose

  19. Haha. Sorry, thought it was just a little funny. Well, someone from the Patrol forums says he is pretty sure that the housings are different and the diff is probably the only thing thats the same. We'll see what other people say. Could it really be that simple? I mean I've never actually taken off the drum before, but would that even work? Also (a little off topic here), that forum is a little different. The mods there have to approve every posting before it can be shown. or maybe it's just me cause I'm new to it...hmmm...seems liek a lot of work for the mods to do! Jose
  20. If you put a jack right under the diff it will jack up both sides at the same time. Hopefully you have a pair of jack stands handy also... Jose
