Well...Got every thing togeather...put 5 quirts in and let it idle for a few minutes be fore driving around my folks yard.Seemed like it was fine.Checked the fluid and looked like it was the right leval,Took it fore a ride and it seemed to shift better then ever between 1 and 2.But then hear comes 3rd... Poor old girl tryed to shift into it a little but then nothing...same as before...no gear there at all.I may put another bottle of atf in it tomarro to see what happens...but it doesnt look good.
  2. Hum...I've been running 114 leaded in mine...and to think I could of gotten away with just 87... Summer I use 87 and winter I use 89(theres less then a 2 cent diffrence at the one gas station so I get the "better" stuff.

Ok I have the pan off(I thought hey the pipes already broke at the weld so I can use a come-a-long to pull it back to its normel spot,Not stock pipe) I clean it up and found a gasket under my gasket...that somebody used sulac on...half hour of scraping and sanding with sand paper and its off.So I clean it out with degreaser and every thing.Also there was a little bit of metal on the magnit (not as much as I thought there would be)So maybe it just had to much fluid in it or something(fingures crossed)

Well...I probly jinxed my self a month or so back by saying that if you live in a cold area then you dont really want a after market tranny cooler because of the lack of warming power from the factorty cooler gave. But heres what happen.Yester day I went around to do a few things before going for wheeling.I noticed the tranny starting to shift funny and slip in 3rd and over drive.Slipping in low RPM's and then banging in to gear about 3-4k.I was like huh...must be low on fluid or some thing.So I go to my trails(not far only about 4 miles away) and get out and put about have a bottle of lucas tranny fluid in it and then the let engine cool down.I wasnt worried because the truck had never givin me any problems for all the stuff that I've done in it.So I get in and start on the trails,I see that people are hunting down there so I leave because I dont want to bother them.I get back out on the back roads and decide to check how high the river is.La-dee-daa I'm driving and all of a sudden I lose 3rd and over drive.1st and second are still there but I cant just put it in second.I have to wind it up in first and shift on the fly to second.So I have a top speed of 60 mph or so.Well I go home and drain the fluid since I have a new filter and I figure its not going to hurt the tranny any by putting it in.Well I drain the fluid and it comes out real dark,like motor oil and it smells burnt.But A ton of it came out,Probly a forth to a third of a 5 gallon buckets worth.I havent finshed the filter swap because my exhasut pipe is bent back blocking the casing so I need to cut it off.(no chance of just unbolting it the bolts are rusted and baked on)So if the new fluid and filter dont fix it this maybe the death note of my pathy.Which I'm not in the least happy about since I just finished fixing the frame friday and got my new tabs.
  6. Its funny because the same guy says they'll go *well* over 100 and get 45 mpg.He's completly full of crap.He doesnt have 10k in the engine,all he has is a cold air intake,header and sport exhaust(he changes it from duel to singal about once a month). But they are neat little trucks.

I know a guy that will drive nothing but stock hight or lowered 2.2 ,stick,S10s with APC body kits.All year round not 4x4s ether.In the winter he'll put a set of TSLs on the back and call it good.He currently goes threw one a winter this way.I thought it was funny because the guy I'm talking about thinks the 4banger 10s are the fastest trucks out there and he always says that he has 10k into the engine alone. There not bad looking trucks though but the white paint and blue flames dont appeal to me that much...it should be black with maybe a charcoal grey or red two tone.

  9. So I its gotta be the Idle Air control Valve then...since it did the same thing when it blew up.
  10. Not all crown vics. I'm asuming that your thinking of intercepter when you say they have the same engine as the 'stang.Which is why there fast,but no,the cop cars had old 4 barrel 351s up to 91.After that the vics has the stang 302(for 92 only I think) and 4.6 v8s. Another plus is that the stang has trw rods in them instead of cast.
  11. The throttle cable isnt bindding. its a 89 with a Fuel injected moter so I'm sure it has a ECU. But Its not the same engine as the mustang 302(intake) The 'stng 302 had more advanced electronics and other stuff(I forget what exactly)
  12. Naw,I hunt in semmy heavy timber and a 3030 with a nice wide view is bad ass.I wasnt talking about a 4-12 power redfield or any thing like on my 6mm just a plain 3-9 or 3-10.

  15. 46 inch michalins... To much ground clearance...you'll go threw any thing but it alows for zombies to grab ahold of the under caridge and get you when you get out to gas up.
  16. No ground clearance,you'll tear up the trains axle(I got the movie) And the marlin is a pretty good lever gun since the casings arent ejected from the top like the 94 so you could mount a scope(You can mount a scope on a 94 its just down the barrel aways).
  17. Ok...so for the last month I've been working on my 1989 f150 lariet 4x4. My dad bought it new and I got it in 2000 or 2001. It had 199383 miles on it when the head gaskits blew. Parts on the thang 1.Add-a-leafs and over loads on the rear. 2.8.8 rear axle with lsd 3.t-18 or 19 4 speed tranny(un siced 1st gear so I think its a 18)It was rebuilt about 3ooo miles ago 4.250 coils and shock and heavy duty stuff on the front. what I've added to get it to be the truck I wanted. Fiber glass fenders, K&N air filter, Rebuilt the engine. Rebuild specs. 302 v8 bored .020 over to clean the walls up,cleaned up rotating assbly,had heads shaved,valves ported,deck resufaced,oil pump,all new bearings and so on. Hedman headers(1 1/2 with 3" collecters) signal pipe with stock muffler for now but I have a pair ofThrush turbos waiting for 3 inch pipes Msd plug wires,new Ac delco plugs,dizzy cap,rotor.2 hours on engine dyno to break in the engine. Specs.@234 hp at 3400 rpm,322 lbs at 2200(using there intake) Stock camshaft at the moment. Hears what messed up. I put the moter back in and every thing is all right.I start the engine,all wired and set up,my stock intake on with a tbi spacer. The top end is mine,bone stock(intake not heads as stated before) I start it and it runs good for about five minutes and then it revs it self.I dont mean like a bad intake gasket.Its like I'm in it and floored the thing.I shut it off and restart it...the same thing,from the moment the engine caught. I ran the old girl throw the gears around my parents field,thinking it may go away but no.Its the same way.Like I'm driving with the pendal to the floor. So What could it be.Bad injecters or some thing like that. Also,the same thing happen when the truck blew up,the exxact same thing,the thing just reved up in neutral when I was moving it and went whump and died. I'm really pissed about it and I dont want to sell it because its one of the cars I always wanted(the other being my moms 76/77 monte carlo) but I'm just sick of the whole mess. What could it be?
  18. Hells bells, I'd get some muddies,bumper and winch before I got a rear locker. A rear lockers good since it alows you to do harder stuff but then when your stuck, your more stuck(harder to get out) then with a open rear end. So in my book,its,winch,lift,muddys,more power,then lockers.

Bah,bah(look I'm a goat) still not as bad as mine was.In fact I just welded some squire pipe in to mine so I can us my back bumper some what(read.my passger side was so bad that there wasnt any metal(really none) from the spring pearch back,just flakes). I've never seen any truck rust like nissans.Its just sad since they last a good long time.
