so, for clarification, the "FJ" springs are .52 and are basically the same as are on the stock pathy. The "FN" springs off the heavy duty suspension are .56 and should provide lift. I am learning more and more about jeep springs and there is apparently a true up-country spring that measures close to .6. The code is GN I think. I'll edit this post tomorrow when I get to my office and find my notes.

there's a rigid line that is clamped at the rusty bolt in the pic that runs down to the tranny. This line should be open (not sure why but I confirmed it on a neighbors 95). The guys who rebuilt my front end after my accident plugged the vacuum line into that rigid line rather than the actuator for the ASCD. sheesh! I wonder what I was doing to the tranny when I was trying the speed control and it was sucking on that rigid line.

So, I got tired of my cell phone wandering all around on the dash as I drove. First thing I did was pickup a cheap holder from Walmart Now to remove that stupid belt clip... I pulled off the felt covering the rivet and drilled it out Then some unstitching viola! Now to make room for my charger A little super glue to hold the loose threads together Drill a second mount hole and countersink both Using the holder as a template, mark and drill mount holes on your console piece (previously removed) A couple bolts, washers and locknuts... mounted view from behind. and the front. I also tooka black sharpie pen and colored the bolt heads to be black after this pic was taken Finished and installed. Easy to see, easy to grab, easy to charge.

this has gotten confusing. there are so many variations in springs... According to Aarons site, the springs I want for my pathy are: Jeep Grand Cherokee V8 springs: Outer diameter: 5.25" Inner diameter: 4"(after trimming) Coil thickness: .52" Coil height(uncompressed): 17" I think the coil thickness listed is in error. Other discussions list them as .56". The stock springs for an I6 are the FJ springs that spec at .52" (which I bought a pair based on the above info). There was a variation on the I6 JGCs that used a FN spring which measured .56" I got 1 of those cause that's all that was there. I'm now believeing that the .52 springs will not provide any lift and I need another .56 (or a pair of GN's at .60"). sigh. anyone need a pair of FJ springs?

hmmm... according to the specs that 88 gave in his posts, I have found a TON of compatable springs. There are so many busted cherokees in our junkyard. Anyway... the spring that match the description are tagged with a green OEM tag "FJ". These are .52 thickness and 17" length uncompressed. I picked up a pair that were just laying in the back of a cherokee. The spring on the right is an interesting beast. Measures exactly like the FJ spring (with 1 exception) but the tag was white and not clearly readable. Anyone know where I can find a list of the jeep spring codes and their specs? Unfortunately, the mate to the white tag spring was torched in half when someone removed the front end. Oh.. the difference.... it measures .56 thickness. It came off a '93 grand cherokee laredo with an I6. That year seemed to have a heavy-duty suspension option. I'm thinking that this would be a good option for the 4-door pathys with the tire carrier but I still need to find another and do some tests.

hehehe I hear ya. Don't think I have to worry about that. Nancy gives me grief every time I come home with the truck muddy. She'd be the mall-crawler if anything.

The first thing to break was my passenger.

hmmm... I have a white on my truck and a spare still in the envelope in my office. Have yet to see what a black one looks like on a truck (though I'm driving a charcoal colored one). May have to upgrade to a reflective.

Invite the idiot over to help you. Have him crawl under the pathy and yell... "Your Turn!"

sounds like it time for a good 'ol hillbilly asskickin!

excellent.

looking at the angle of the frame member, I don't think the IA is bent.

bout $20 or so still.

actually... mine is very easy to tell the difference. When it's set to sport, the little light is on.
-
sport/comfort. I can tell a difference when I'mm offroad and have it on comfort. It body-rolls a bit more. Also, on bumpy highway driving, it's vibrates more if on sport.

I have found that the BFGoodrich All Terrain T/A KO's are a good balance between offroad/bad conditions traction and highway driveability. Bonus points that they carry them at my wholesale club and I can get them a little cheaper than at the local tire store.

I believe the R50's use the 20mm thread on the engine.
-
ok... estimating the box size and 20 pounds... it'd take 20-25 bucks each to ship from here to San Diego (cause I had the zip code there)
-
I went to tighten mine and one of them was rotated so I couldn't get the screwdriver on the head of the screw. Had to force it to rotate before I could tighten it.
-
I haven't priced shipping for my heads yet. Damn things are just a little too tall for the $8 flat-rate box so they'll have to go UPS or something. Any idea what the weight is? I can run an estimate.

valves are cheap and I have a pair of cams that only have 80k miles on them. Actually, I may have kept my valves too (but new ones are under 10- bucks)
