i replaced a bosch with a bosch. it cost me $80 and no problems. dowser actually is running my old o2 sensor in his pathy
-
it's no "overfill" to put 5 qts in cuz basically, with 4 you're getting inadequate lubrication anyway, which is the same as "underfill".

well. i am a bit biased as i have 2 WD's and have never driven/wheeled an R50. however. WD's are easier to find parts for, build up and repair. Motors are everywhere for the WD's. and you can even upgrade (if you don't have smog laws) to a chevy 350, VG33 block or just upgrade the VG30 all around for more power. The front steering components are a bit weak, but if the only off roading you're oging to do is for fishing. then a WD is fine. The WD would be good to beat on and not feel bad. I would be a bit weary of gravel beating a newer pathy.. but would not think twice about it in either of my WD's.. However. and it has been proven here that 1 is not necessarily better than the other off road.... look at dan and pezzy's pics..... with slight mods they go anywhere. i would prefer to change a single coil over 6 coil packs that cost $98 each..... should the need arise.. i think overall parts for a WD are a bit cheaper, and more readily available. Both styles are more than capapble of doing what you want to do..... so in the end. if you look at WD's.. check for frame rot..... on a R50.. checks susp...... oh yeah. and on WD's.. you only have 1 catalytic converter sly dirve both and find one you like! -bounce- -bounce- good luck!
-
go with the full size spare......... and put it in the back like dan said. also. just FYI i sold my factory hubs on feebay fer $40 plus shipping
-
all of the above......... -bounce-
-
why do i have 2 pathys and i'm soooooooo broke ALL the time
-
  *counts change in jar*......
-
i had a RMS going out but never got the burning oil smell.. that's why it could be any number of things.... but yes. RMS is the most suspect, but not a definite.
-
-bounce- glad my post could be "enlightening". yeah.. there's quite a lot of "involvement" in taking a VG motor out.. suprised me too the first time. with our chevy's we just take 4 bolts out n POOF. one motor on stand. nissan sure knew how to aggrevate their buyers when they designed the pathy.... lol. we do it for love...... else mine woulda been in the JY a LONG time ago.. and i sure as hell wouldn't hav bought a second one lol oooooooh.. 230' yacht eh? cooooooooool  -bounce-
-
could well be the RMS..... could also be the oil pan leaking, valve cover leaking........ i have oil in the same place.. but it's my oil pan leaking i know... just haven't got around to fixin it wipe off ALL the oil down there....... then warm her up to working temp. turn her off and let her sit. after she drips a bit.. go out and check to see exactly where it's coming from.. put your hand up there (not when motor is hot please) and see where it's coming from.
-
glad you got 'er done. hey! i never discourage anyone from tryin an engine swap lol... but if you've read about my 2 swaps and your self confindece is nil then yeah.. having a mechanic do it is better. glad everything worked out ok and you're diggin the new "power".... and enjoy that little "detour" sly

sly i am sneaky sneaky mistress of the search

i paid $34 for my plug wires from kragens and they work just as good as the $80 set i took off no sold on ebay for the same amount i paid for the new ones sssh
-
i also use MT-90. just did it bout 2 months ago. pull the shifter boot (the mian one for both shifters) and there is a snap ring for the shifter.... CAREFULLY pop the little bugger and remember which way the shifter came out, cuz if you don't get it back in as it came out you can have issues..... fill away (5 qts) and then replace -bounce- ps: i know someone did a write up about it... maybe check the "how to's " section in the garage i think it was grimgreg (ryan)

NISSAN 300ZX (1984 to 1989) 3 V6 VG30 NISSAN 300ZX (1984 to 1989) 3 V6 VG30T NISSAN 300ZX 2+2 (1984 to 1989) 3 V6 VG30 NISSAN MAXIMA (1985, 1986) 3 V6 VG30E hm.. no pathfinder to be found...... the maxima and pathy blocks are the same, but i dunno bout the intakes.. the wires are not all the same length. the back wires are much longer with uber long boots....... got a pic of them out of the box? and a 93 pathy is a VG30E
-
i don't have any balls but my pathy has more than enuff balls n attitude to scare the worst tweak
-
hm.. wait til you try to get the motor back IN sly
-
my thoughts exactly. and make sure the wire for the MAF sensor wire/connector is not getting hit by the hood and that it's on tight
-
don't worry. i hear it all the time too. i had a 90 wrangler islander 6" SL 33's. loved my jeep to death, wheeled he tires off it (rubicon, hollister, frank raines) and it never let me down.....even when i drowned it.... still got me home after some drying. gutless in a head wind.. never had a top on it.. but had nothin but fun in it. used to wheel my stock pathy (mini me when she was stock) and my jeep together.. jeep did a tad better than mini.... only because it was modded more..... but good times fer sure! now i have 2 pathfinders and no jeep........ sly i would like a CJ5 or 7 tho... *drools*
-
I have not tried them myself, but i have heard they are not a good idea, especially of you wheel a lot.. they don't hold up too well to the stress. this is just some of what i've heard from hardcore wheelers. i'm sure someone who has had experience with them will chime in
-
the hardest part is over. :cool2: isn't tearing out your motor FUN! -bounce- -bounce- (i've done it twice on the same pathy)
-
sssh could also be something in the ignition.. sometimes my pathy does that.. but i wiggle my key n varOOOOOm...... she starts no problem.
-
i changed BOTH my knobs to 8 balls ..... sssh
-
still haven't got my plates so STILL have not been able to drive king caca.. so i STILL don't know if imma part him out or not...... but if i do he has a fresh rebuilt tranny and my other pathy is a 5 speed so i'll be selling the tranny.
