OK! I couldn't resist! I want to know what made everyone decide to buy a Pathy over other vehicles? What year, model, auto or manual tranny,how many doors does your Pathy have? What really sealed the deal? Was it because it was free? cheap? good looking? reliable? Tell me! As for me? Well.. as most of you know, I had my '90 Jeep Wrangler as my primary vehicle, which was fine cuz I loved my Jeep and all that, but when it came time to go somewhere where I wanted to take more than 1 other person, or somewhere my Jeep wouldn't be safe.. I needed another rig. I started looking at 4 runners because they had more room but were still 4 wheel drive,(at the time I had NEVER HEARD of a Pathfinder!) when one of my good friends said he had a Pathy for sale. My first brand new car in 1986 was a Nissan, and I have owned 1 other Nissan car b 4 that, so I knew they were good cars.The guy gave it to him in lieu of $$ he owed my friend for other mechanical work on his motorhome, and he would sell it to me for the price he was owed. $3,600. I hesitated..went to see it...liked the color and the 4 doors, 5 spd, and how super clean inside it was and how good the body was.. drove it.. locked up one of the front brakes testing the brakes.... got back to his house.. and off to the bank we went! That was in September 2003. $3,600 I got a 1992 Nissan Pathfinder XE with 114,000 miles on it, super clean and ran great! I have never looked back. (it KBB'd @ $5,685 at the time) I sold the Jeep when it came to the crunch last summer..and although I do not regret that decision.. I do miss the Jeep ocasionally. I was just one of the lucky ones I guess.... (at finding a Pathy!) So! that's me! what about YOU! -bounce-

Ok. First off ...yes.. I also have the same comsole in my '92 XE 5 spd Pathy. Secondly.. how much you want fer that thang? where are you located? Thirdly: you say teh lid "flips up"..so does mine.. nothing a piece of tape hasn't been taking care of for the past 6 months

Ditto on knoxvilles statement. I think 90-95 Pathy's need to be changed every 60,000 miles and 96 up Pathys every 115,000 miles..or a number similar to that. If in doubt.. CHANGE IT!

If you were to lay on the ground under your drivers door.. and then when you're under yer Pathy.. look UP.. you will see where the O2 sensor plugs into the exhaust tube. Follow the wire and it will trail over your tranny.. up the passenger side of your motor, up the fender well and it plugs in right onto the cluster of plug in wires on a "shared tree" that is screwed to the PS fender. It sits right between the battery and the firewall. You can't miss it. O2 sensor usually has black sleeve and 3 wires coming off it. Size to get it out of the pipe? I THINK (guesstimating here) 14mm.... just a guess.. it's been a few months since I did mine. Just take a few wrenches down there with ya and try them. it's easy to do.. easier if you have help so one person can feed the wire from up top while the other person is underneath. That way you can make sure you get it fitted safely with no snags. Make sure you don't force teh O2 sensor out of its house in the exhaust.. if you break something yer screwed.. well..maybe not in your case with a new exhaust system..but still...

I am a follower of the "square" look.. all my old pick ups were "square" my Pathy is pretty much "square".. what.. do manufacturers think their trucks will go faster with rounded headlights? I am a lover of the old school looks I guess... I do however like the back end of the newer Pathys.. and again.. you're right Bernard.. with some aftermarket goodies installed.. any ugly duckling can be made to look like a swan. (I am NOT saying newer Pathys are ugly ducklings..that was a generalization)

I do agree B & 88. Although I had never done a t-belt.. it was shortly after I had removed the motor (and reinstalled it)..so I knew my way around.. AND I was fortunate enough to have Dave helping me... AND.. I had a 20x10ft tent to work in..AND all the tools I could possibly need...as well as some I am better off avoiding... :X

ouch! I paid $25 for the t-belt, and $49 for the H2o pump.....and did it all (including new pvc valve and t'stat) in about 6 hrs....I kept making Dave turn teh motor again because the marks didn't look "dead on" to me and I freaked.. I am still adamant the mark is 1 tooth off..... adamant....gut feeeeeeeeeling.....Pathy runs great tho......

I am not so much for the Liberty.. I think they are blatantly ugly.. but to each his own, and with the diesel motor in them now they get some good torque. I was single for many many moons, so my Wrangler was ideal.. room for me and a passenger... stereo and spare tire... and off the ebaten path I would go! As I get older (ok.. I JUST turned 36) the less inclined my abck was to take the beating from wheeling the Jeep... another deciding factor of keeping the Pathy and selling the Jeep...
