  1. No, I simply bought a set of Mile Markers and installed them. If one really wanted to, one could dremel in the slots for tabbed components and use the autolocking hubs but it wasnt worth the time to me. Besides, I would want to remove the spindle and machine it properly. Still, it could be done fairly easily. B
  2. You can buy a basic OBD2 reader (all you really need) for about $50, it will pay for it's self the first time you use it. This, but buy a gauge or pay someone to do it for you; which ever is cheaper. B
  3. Yes, quite likely.... What it does is keep the gasoline vapors from venting into the atmosphere, avoiding that much more polution. I have never heard of a negative effect from having a charcoal canister hooked up, unless it is OBD2 and it is clogged or something, but it doesn't affect power or fuel economy. B
  4. I have heard some accuracy/quality issues about the Mini 14, ie not built the way they used to be made. Hearsay though, I don't own one. If you are serious with .223, save for an AR... Oh, and lift the Q, it looks like you are carrying groceries... B
  5. And you wonder why it doesn't run right?? I wonder why it runs!! B
  6. Something like that. I can't remember if the fluid can run down the fork and drip into the bell housing. It would drain out of the little drain hole center where the tranny and engine bolt together. You aren't new to mechanics, so if you didn't see a leak there might not be one. I'm just throwing logic at the problem from 2000 miles away... B
  7. Having the fan will help if you slow way down or stop, but it isn't going to do anything for you at all when you have a 60 mph wind going through the cooler. As a matter of fact, depending on the size of the fanm/motor, it may impede airflow. B
  8. I have had a theory for decades, if you dream about work, its time for a vacation... B
  9. This is a PG site, so probably not given some of the indications I have gotten... B
  10. All Pathy's and Hardbodies any ODB style. No Exploders or Dodgusus... Hmm, how many codes, not repeated?? I'm going to edit my post down to match that. B
  11. I'll go first with the wife's caR50... 3 codes: P0301 #1 cyl misfire P059 O2 circuit slow response, Bank #2 Sensor #2 P0158 O2 sensor circuit high voltage Bank #2 Sensor #2 The answer was injector #1 replacement, it was shorting/failing when hot after being restarted. A PITA. I have ignored the PO158 so far, it only lights up occasionally and will be dealt with in spring. The thread can be found here. http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=27522&st=0&p=513002&fromsearch=1entry513002 B
  12. Title says it. Please list the codes, say what they are and what the cure was. If you have a thread about it, post a link for reference. Do not count the same code twice please. I'm wanting to have fun with 'My Pathy was more messed up than yours' game but also make an attempt with indexing code diagnostics a little; there is no way I can sort all of NPORA alone so this will help greatly. Orderly presentation is always a plus. On after thought, I'm going to make it a poll too... B
  13. Agreed, but so can the WD21 OBD1. I've seen quite a few people here with a string of codes too, but usually not more than 3 or 4 Yep, the wife's Matrix came home with a CEL one day so I grabbed the reader, headed out and got that. Cleared it, opened the gas hatch, unscrewed the gas cap, screwed it back in, shut it and told the wife 'tell me if it comes back tomorrow'. It didn't and she thinks I'm a genius... What year is it?? No diagnostics what so ever?? Sell it and get something that doesn't have stone wheels?? B
  14. I see children, gorceries, soccer in someones future... B
  15. Yep, you have a leak. Logical place to look is the slave cylinder (or lines to it) where a leak will just drip off, and any air getting sucked in travels up the line and collects in the damper... Do you have rust?? B
  16. I could have sworn the year the heavy duty auto tranny was available was in 2001, so a Frontier or Xterra 2001 or newer with the VG33 should be the donor?? The VG35 has a different bell housing/bolt pattern?? Can that part be swapped? As for the condensor, I wouldn't bother and simply install your tranny cooler infront of it. Without cutting, etc you will have a hard time mounting a 1.5" thick cooler. Put in the largest 3/4" thick plate style cooler you can on one side of the Radiator support and that should be all you need. Not like you live in a hot climate Bud... B
  17. Glad you got it licked!! Devil is in the details, eh... B
  18. I am by far not an expert on automatic trannies, this being the first I have had in 20 years and the second ever. I am going by other people's experiences here and extrapolating... Unless the screen (as I understand it) is significantly blocked, there seems little reason to replace it but how does one tell?? Taking it out and looking, but if you do that you may as well just change it... My theory is that if enough strands/particulate gets past the screen to clog the cooler, then an inline filter is warranted; it can only help. To me it is a cheap $50 insurance just like the tranny cooler. Let me say though, if you wait until you have tranny problems then installing a filter probably won't help, this is all about PM. B
  19. Maybe you have very sharp 90 degree edges in your seats?? With the 2 injectors I removed, I simply rotated them 1/8 turn back and forth while pulling until they popped free, and the one I installed I did the same thing but pushing instead of pulling, then tightened the top cap down. I can't remember if I put some oil on the o-rings, but I might have and I can't see how it would hurt. I never had any problem... Hopefully the oil trick worked for you!! B
  20. Before you get to hasty in agreeing with the angry young Canadian, I think I know what the dealer guy meant. I understand that they are basically just a screen, not a true filter and that being the case, don't need to be changed. Did you specify you meant an inline or after market ATF filter kit?? Regardless, the factory unit is ineffective if the stock tranny cooler is prone to clogging so something else needs to be done IMO. I have had it installed for a while now, the thread is pinned in the garage. http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=24503 B
