Inside door handle; can it be modified?
vengeful replied to OE812's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
According to the Association of Accident Reconstruction and the Society of Automotive Engineers, only about 10% of drivers without automatically locking doors lock their doors. It has everything to do with being in an accident. I am an Accident Reconstruction Engineer and Crash Test Specialist. It is a proven fact that cars that are involved in an accident are much more likely to have doors open when they are unlocked than when they are locked. When a door comes open, it provides a huge open area for a passenger to be ejected, restrained or not. A side benefit to that is that the doors cannot be unintentionally opened while driving down the road if the driver or passenger is fumbling around with the door handle. -
Inside door handle; can it be modified?

It's a Japanese safety thing. Japanese vehicles have to be unlocked to be opened. In an accident, a locked door is much less likely to open, ejecting a passenger. -

What do the XJs solid axles have to do with your Unibody argument. Nothing. You originally said that the R50 is a car because it is unibody. You did not put any sort of contingency statement along with that. Yet, you consider the XJ a truck, even though it is also unibody. Therefore, your logic on the unibody stance has been disproven and holds no water. Stop trolling this forum. If you want to start sh1t, go back to AC. They love that stuff there. This is a forum for ALL Pathfinder enthusiasts. We don't need people here like you who are going to be prejudiced against one kind of Pathfinder or another, or who are going to bash the other kind of Pathfinder, because it's different. We are an open group to ALL Pathfinder enthusiasts, whether they own a fully tubed out 87 on 54" tractor tires, or a brand new off the lot 06 that hasn't gone past the local Supermarket. You need to re-evaluate your high-and-mighty attitude Justin and take it someplace else. There's no room for it here.

Then vomit.... Your arguments are totally full of holes. You argued that the R50 is a minivan because it is a unibody. Yet you argued that the XJ, also a unibody vehicle, is NOT a minivan. Therefore contradicting and negating your own argument that the R50 is a minivan based on it's unibody construction. Conclusion, R50 is not a minivan. Then you argued that the R50 is a minivan because it has Rack & Pinion steering. Well, the Titan, Tacoma, 4Runner, and H1 all have rack & pinion steering, and you consider them to be trucks. Therefore, your argument that the R50 is a minivan based on it's steering system is null. Conclusion, R50 is not a minivan. Then you argued that the R50 is a minivan because it has struts. Well...guess what, the new Frontier has struts, the new 4Runner has struts, along with a huge host of other SUVs. Your argument that the R50 is a minivan based on its struts holds no water. Conclusion, R50 is not a minivan. Then you say that it is only a minivan if it meets all of those conditions. Yet, the definition of a minivan is a "Wagon-like vehicle based off a passenger car platform, with large side and rear windows, and sliding side doors with seating for 7 or more passengers." Does the R50 seat 7? Does it have sliding doors? It also has a true part-time 4WD system with a low-range transfer case reduction. Conclusion. R50 is an SUV. If you don't like it, you can go buy a Honda.

Did I say anything about the Ridgeline? No. I sure didn't. The R50 is not a product of Renault. There is no Renault in it at all. It is a product of Nissan Truck Corp and ONLY Nissan Truck Corp. But, you said that the R&P and the Struts made the R50 a minivan after you negated that the unibody made it a minivan because the Cherokee is a minivan. And lets see here.... I don't see any mention of the Nissan Pathfinder on there. The Ford Excursion is mentioned....is it a minivan?
-
But Dean...now I'm confused. Is the WD21 also a car? Is the Cherocar the only misnomered misnomer? Since it has a solid axle, does that negate the unibody and make it a real truck?
-
And don't forget to mention that the R50 placed on the podium in the 2002 and 2003 Dakar Rally. It WAS a product of Nissan, what in the hell are you talking about? Honda didn't make it. Toyota didn't make it. It was built 100% in Japan, so that leaves only Mazda and Nissan....and guess what...Mazda didn't make it either. :o So, I guess the Tacoma and the 4Runner are minivans because they have R&P steering. And I guess the New Frontiers are minivans because they have struts.

The passenger car tires on it effect the load carrying capacity as well. Upgrading to LT tires increases that.

Oops. I know for a fact that I've exceeded that at least 2 fold, and my Pathy is no worse for the wear.

The R50 has a larger motor, more power and torque, many more features standard, and is a more popular, and updated style than the WD among the general public. The WD is a very dated design, but the older R50s still look pretty new. They don't have the same rusting issues that the WDs have, and they have a more luxurious interior.

Well, I haven't been in contact with them for a long time, but Jim expressed interest in making bumpers for the R50. He'll need a truck to mock off of for about a month though.

In VA, they'll give you a $500 Radar Detector ticket if they SUSPECT you of having a radar detector. If you brake when they radar you, that's good enough for them to give you a ticket. It also gives them probable cause to search your vehicle for a radar detector, and cite/arrest you for anything else they may or may not find. VA cops suck.

It's actually an 01, not to be particular or anything.

Here's a pic from today. This is jojo from ClubFrontier. He's a freakin madman...

6.6HP@ 172:1 is better. 6.6/3.6 = 1.83333... 294/1.83333... = 160.363. 172 > 160.4, therefore 172 is better. If the Champion had a 6.6HP motor, and the same pull rates etc, it would have the equivalent of a 160.4:1 reduction ratio. The T-max has a higher effective gear reduction for more efficient pulling.

Not really Kris. He's got an issue, and wants our input. Every thread deserves real responses. If you have nothing constructive to add, stay in the off-topic forum. As I said before, if you're going to go through the trouble of the Prado Lift, you'll be better off if you do a rear bumper mounted spare tire. Not only will your truck look less mall-crawler with the tire mounted safely out of harms way, custom rear bumpers add like 30HP. Just ask Pezzy!

You can put the Calmini or AC TX10 Crawler gears in ANY TX10 transfer case, (W)D21, (W)D22, R50 or whatever. The WD22 Xterra and D22 Frontier did NOT come with lockers. You're thinking of the (W)D40 Xterra and Frontier (2005+), and the factory locker is only available on the Off-Road Xterra or the Nismo Frontier, and can only be used in 4-low at speeds LESS THAN 3MPH. The (W)D22 series had the same features and options as the R50 in terms of powertrain, except that the front differential on the R50 is the same as the 4-cylinder D21 Hardbody pickup from 95-97.

Yeah, it's a photo-sensor. Works for both the auto-climate control, and the auto-headlights. However, I don't have the auto-headlights, but they sure would be nice!

I know at least one person who would be interested in your hubs, BTW...
