Tahuya is on the inside of the "Great Bend" of Hood Canal, which separates the Kitsap Peninsula from the Olympic Peninsula. Hood Canal is a shallow glacial-cut fiord from our last Ice Age ~ also home to the best water skiing water I've ever come across, especially at ebb tide. Further down the road is Dewatto, home of many a party & some great salmon runs. Never been there in my Pathy, but grew up in the area (lived in Belfair for 6 yrs., brother lives up Sand Hill Rd. off of the North Shore), needless to say, my old stomping grounds... Hood Canal looks like a giant "fish hook" on the map of Washington to the west of Puget Sound, Belfair is the tip of the "hook", Tahuya is on the inside of the bend in the hook. Trees, beauty & fun abounds, if you ever have the chance to go ~ do so... :secret:

In all the years of owning my Pathy, that damnable yellow piece of isht in both the doors has been more trouble than the rest of the rig combined. I've replaced the driver's side one I think, 3 times ~ the passenger side only once, more than likely wore it out when I refused to replace the left side. "What the hey, I can just reach through"... They are a bear to get back in, more than likely Nissan has some fancy $800. tool that makes it a piece of cake. A long pair of needle nose helps, and you'll have to take the retaining tab off of your door lock so you can drop that out of the door, too. It ties your interior door handle, lock button, and outside lock all togther. Nissan should've forged the darn thing outta chrome moly or something. Talk about planned obsolescence...

I was refering to using 4hi for winter driving in snow on the freeways of N.E. Nevada, not trail romping. None the less, had his hubs been locked, he might've been able to continue through the mudhole ~ that was the point... I routinely lock my hubs in as soon as I go off of the pavement to avoid situations like 87mud found himself in. Locking 'em don't do squat 'til ya throw that lever on the TC... -thnkboutit-

I bought 'em through the local Discount Tire, but you can get them through Summit Racing online for a little better price... :contract: U.S. Wheel model #94-97 ~ they come in all chrome as well...

Tires are Yokohama Geolander AT II's ~ 31x10.50x15. There was no rubbing with the Lego's, but with the different BS on the 94's I'm going to have to crank my torsions a little for clearance. That is, 'til the Calmini SL goes on...

Bah, I've ran at 50 MPH+ in 4hi no problem many a time with my Warn manuals... besides, just cause they're locked you're not creating anything worse than extra drag on your drivetrain. Had they been locked, he probably could've slid it into 4hi and kept right on a truckin'...

:o The dreaded yellow doohickey strikes again! Inside the door is a connector that ties all of your handles/door locks together. It's an incredibly cheap piece of cheesy yellow plastic with a white/clear plastic spacer that slides in it. Make sure you don't loose the spacer ~ it's required to keep enough tension on the split yellow part to hold it in place. You can pick one up at the stealer for a couple of bucks. Be forewarned that it's a pain in the a$$ to get back in, but more than likely it's what's causing your unlocking nightmare.
