  1. Yes, the WD21 is a VG30 and both the 99 and the 02 are VG33, and all of them have an auto 4 speed tranny. Enviado de meu GT-I9100 usando o Tapatalk 2
  2. Sorry if this has been talked before, I'm away from home and couldn't do a better search. The question is: a friend needs a "new" tranny and tcase for his 94 WD21. He found 2 sets, one from a 99 and another from a 02. As long as I know they are the same and will fit. I am correct? Will them fit, just plug and play? There are any issues? Flying R50

I don't think so, in Brazil 2WD models are very rare, maybe there are only a few WD21 and I don't think 2WD R50 where imported.

    Flying R50

They are a team, at that stunt the driver was Fabio Tabarelli. They are still testing, aiming to get the record of a jump between two ramps with an original vehicle. He will probably get a video when they go for the final jump.

Sorry, the link was from our Yahoo! group, I guess that's why just me could see it ... Here it is

    Flying R50

Fabio Tabarelli's flying R50 reached 33,92 meters (about 111 feet) which he claims to be the longest distanced already reached in Brazil.
  7. Well, unfortunatelly I'm back to Porto Alegre. We've run 3000 km and were near Comodoro Rivadavia (Argentina) when we've got problems with the AT. Looks like the AT oil pump. The back gear does not engaged anymore and there were a small slip when going forward from stopped position. The other 2 pathfinders continued the trip and have yet arrived at Ushuaia, today they're going from Ushuaia to Puerto Natales (Torres del Paine). Enviado de meu MZ608 usando o Tapatalk 2
  8. We are now in Gualeguaychu, Argentina, just 100 km past Uruguay frontier. We planned to be 700 km farther than it, but some delays forced us to just start the trip at Friday´s afternoon instead of the morning. But we are on the run now, and I´ll post pics as soon as I can.
  9. When we started planning the trip, we were 6 Pathfinder owners. But we lost one due to an engine rebuild, another one decided not to go with his truck - he will go with me since my family declined to go (teens don't like it) and today another one decided not to go, due to a bushing. It looks funny, but he got a problem with the two bushings on the steering sector- or so - and couldn't find one of them, someone made one for him but it wasn't good, and the only solution would be to import it, but it only would arrive after Christmas, so... one more out of the expedition. So now we are only three. And one broke the rack, and another forgot the passport... a little delay, we plan to leave this Friday afternoon, instead of in th morning. 10. Hi! Good to know we won't need to woory about gas in Chile. It looks like it's all ok in Argentina also, probably all we have to take care about gas is on Ruta 40. Thanks for the link, I've downloaded the maps of Proyecto Mapear and saved in my Garmin, they're way better than Garmin maps of that area. Enviado de meu MZ608 usando o Tapatalk 2
  11. I have a 20 liter can to add also, and its holder is very heavy. Maybe this weekend I will mount, it will be very helpful, I plan to do a 23 day trip to Patagonia in about a month, and there are roads where we will run 200 or more miles with no gas station - and even if we find one, it doesn't mean there will be gas.
  12. It's a 33", it doesn't let the rear window open, so I guess if I add a wheel spacer it will do.
  13. I was thinking if mounting the spare with a 1" wheel spacer would add too much stress to the tire carrier .
  14. This will probably be our route
  15. Sure! We'll visit Torres del Paine, and I also would like to know La Carretera Austral, but I'm afraid we won't have enough time to do it at this trip. Good plan for another one ! We are also afraid of the lack of gas in some regions of Argentina, do you have any advice about south of Chile ? Regards, Fernando
  16. Glad to let you know we've just started planning an expedition to visit this region on the south of Argentina and Chile. It will be about - or more than - 12000 to 15000 km, some people will start the trip at Sao Paulo, others in Porto Alegre, and the target is Ushuaia / Argentina.
  17. It seems to be the same for all, mine is a 1994 and it looks like the upper hinge plates are slightly thicker than the lower ones, so that should be the cause. Maybe that's to give more strength... I'm gonna buy the same kit for mine.
  18. Petespath's photo angle loses some drama, while 5523Pathfinder stands out. Kyle94 is more dramatic, but it's kind of losing the beauty for not being in the center of the photo. Silverton's looks like misty. Dificult choice
  19. So the manual says the std type plugs in Cali are BKR6EY, and BKR5EY except Cali. I don't know why the different specs. I'm not in California, I'm in Brazil, 50F-70F in Winter, 80F-95F in Summer. Euro spec cams in the engine. I don't know if it matters. Could I use NGK Iridium BKR6EIX, or would be better BKR5EIX ?
  20. I've found that DNJ is made by - or the same as - Rock Products.
  21. Just ordered euro specs cams from AC, and got an offer to buy the S1 from them, it's a temptation but I think at the end it will cost US$500 more (with new springs), maybe too much, and I don't know if it will give more torque at low rpms.
  22. Guess it will take an year to have the original engine back... and a lot more to solve it, like a compensation for all troubles
  23. Unfornately, it isn't that simple here in Brazil. It's not easy to find a VG30E engine, and they cost a lot of money compared to USA. And we cannot import used engines from Japan, as well, customs don't allow it. When importing parts, taxes are applied to cost + freight, and local (state) taxes also, and at the end the price doubles. But sometime it is still good. An old WD21, say 1994 like mine, worth like US$ 10k. The engine I'm rebuildind isn't the one from my Pathfinder, I just bought it. This one was running but I decided to rebuild it as everything was out yet. The original engine, which broke the crankshaft, was rebuilding at the end of last year, but it was kind of stolen (in fact, the mechanic who was rebuilding it made a mistake and now it is running in another WD21, so I began a lawsuit against the mechanic, the shop who was boring the block, the owner of the other WD21, and so on. A lot of annoyance.
  24. Broken crankshaft. Should I say 'master rebuild kit' ? That is actually what says at Rockauto. I'll need: - engine gaskets - main & connecting rod bearings - pistons & rings as well as (for peace of mind): - oil pump - t-belt - water pump and I'm thinking about: - euro cams - valve lifters
