Thanks! It's definitely a big change from the '98 but in this case, change is good. The VQ35DE is a good engine; don't get me wrong, I'm still a huge fan of the VG33E. The power is much more noticeable, especially on the highway when passing. I'm not sure what the power rating is in the '02 Maxima but I'll bet it's tuned differently based on the platform (Maxima, Altima, Z33, V35, R50, etc.)

No worries. If you plan on really wanting to lift your rig (>3") definitely talk to shift220 about his SFD kits.

Oh, it's a write-off. But that only means it will be bought out by my insurance company. That means it has to be a complete vehicle when it gets taken. I will be removing all the aftermarket parts and replacing them with OEM. That means I won't be able to part out the truck. But I'm pretty sure you wouldn't rust a rusted out driver side fender, anyway. There are parts I will be selling in the near future, so stay tuned for a thread in the Parts For Sale section.

OP: thanks for the update. You might want to look into Bilstein rear shocks over Pro Crap. I've put my Bilstein 5150's through the ringer and they're still smooth as butter. I am also very interested to see your plans for custom front suspension. I've always been a little disappointed with the lack of decent aftermarket stuff for our rigs, namely the front suspension.

Cool. Paint that sucker black and it'll look practically OEM. 4WD alone is bad enough even in summer weather. But I'm certain us R50 owners didn't buy our rigs because they sip fuel.

Just to clarify, you have just the SFD installed, which equates to ~4" lift over stock height? I'm planning the same with the QX4, so would the same rear coil set-up as yours work for me?

It does suck being up here in Canada when it comes to getting parts for our rigs, namely lift kits, wheels and tires. However, depending on your location in ON you're better off than most. Talk to SteeevO on here, his site has some good prices.

For the headlights? Probably $350-400 depending on what shipping costs.

How high will you go? Just jokes. I plan on keeping it for now, in the hopes of a R50 Terrano R3m-R/G3m-R build in the near future. I'll keep everyone posted on what happens so stay tuned. You're right, the JDM HID's are now of no use to me. I think I will sell those. But remember, they only work with '96-'99 R50.

Well, even better. It has the 4.6 LSD, which owns IMO. Yeah, I don't imagine my adjuster's days are quiet this time of year... In regards to my clain, no. I did acquire a new vehicle, though. Well, new to me... Picked up a '01 Infiniti QX4 yesterday, 129K km, pretty mint. Needs a bit of exterior work but it's hard to find a perfect used vehicle. I took some pics this morning: It'll be stockzilla for a while, as I have a buyer for the lift on my '98. I don't think the TJM will fit on the QX4 with the design of the grill and OEM bumper. The SFD will definitely be going on the QX4 come spring, along with a custom rear end with disc brakes and 33's. Can't wait.

And the fact I haven't heard from my adjuster in over a week is only making matters worse. I need a vehicle!!!

Cheaping out on important parts is never a good idea. Then again, getting gouged by these import shops isn't much good, either. Dan (vengeful) was the one who first told me about the Isuzu 3.0L L4 turbo diesel swap kit and IIRC, wasn't all that hard on the wallet. Might be a good option for you guys south of 49. I just wish I could find some more information on the details of this kit.

Best of luck with your project. Hopefully, Tyler (tmorgan) chimes in on this thread. He built a turbo kit for his VG33E-powered Frontier a few years back so I'm sure he has a ton of knowledge related to this kind of mod.
