So it'd be a matter of relocating the mount itself and thus cutting the other fender, extending wires but essentially leave the internal hardware where it is...? This has the potential to be an irrelevant modification merely to accomodate the R50 snorkel.

What octane gas do you use?

Giggity! Thanks for the info! -

Would there be a difference between 4.3's and 4.6's? -

I don't know if that stuff's available up here but I had used some Kleen Flo oil change conditioner and it worked like a charm. I'm going to look for this Restore stuff you speak of. -
Damn you! *shakes fist towards Texas* Actually, it's not so cold here. Just the wind and snow make for a nasty combination. Couldn't care less when I've got the rig in 4HI and all's well! I won't lie either. If it wasn't for work, I'd probably be installing this kit at this very moment. I have OCD, after all.
-
Agreed. I'm a huge fan of the manual t-case. I've never had any good experiences with the electronic systems...
-
Kit was $85USD shipped to my door, about $110CAD at the time I bought it. The lines came to about $40CAD less than half of what I would have spent to get the same ones sent from the company that made the relo kit. And this blizzard thing is just part of life in the Great White North... Makes having a Pathfinder a worthy daily driver.

I'm not contesting anything, save where you obtained that information. That's it... My rig's been running on full synthetic since the PO bought it back in '02 so I wouldn't know what difference the change made, if any. I'm only running 91 because my VG feels better than it did running 87. Just being pragmatic, I guess... -
I wonder, would it be hard to relocate the antenna to the RH fender to make the R50 snorkel work?
-
If it wasn't for the 2-day blizzard I'd already have it done, Pezzy. As soon as I get oil and a filter and a few hours to do the install, you'll see pics of the whole darn thing!

I don't know what Nissan employee gave you that information... I've noticed my truck runs smoother when I run 91. I'm going to give 89 a shot and see how that works. Yeah, let's not forget your WD21 is bone stock. So duh you'd get better mileage... I doubt it's that much better. -

The difference between 87 and 91 is only a nickel or so per litre where I live; therefore I just run 91. I'm at present running Castrol Syntec 5W30, changing every 5,000km (roughly six months based on how much mileage I've put on the ODO so far). I run full synthetic in the diffs and tranny and I'm getting the mileage one can expect from a 11-year old SUV with about 170,000km on it. Every third fill I run Lucas Injector Cleaner/Conditioner with Lucas Booster; not sure if it's helped but my truck runs without compromise all the time. I am planning a Sea Foam cleaning as soon as I can get outside. Hopefully that'll clean out the intake/combustion/exhaust systems and I'll see some mileage improvement. -
Thanks for the advice. So I don't need any teflon tape for any of this install? Schweet! Anyhoo, here are the pics of the hoses: I took three using different flash settings... Don't know if it helped much.
-
Hoses are in! Had 'em made with 90o fittings on for hooking up to the sandwich plate (actually I stole this idea from someone else ). I may still get separate ones for the relo plate depending on where I end up mounting it. I will take pics of the goods when I get home.

Gatorback, eh? And it's a lifetime warranty? May I know more?

AFAIK the OME HD coils will have minimal long term sag when compared to the AC coils. Mine have been on for about 10k km and so far there has been hardly any sag. I'd consider it more the coils just settling...
-
Very nice!

Ditto. Your rigs are always worthy of some pictures.
-
Oh, don't get me wrong, it's so worth doing. What other reason besides pure custom badassness would anyone throw money into a vehicle? Go for it, I say!
-
X2 Ditto... And I'm at work. Yipes. This project sounds awesome... I want to see pics.

Still working on it... I've got a fellow in Japan looking into it for me. The stock numbers for the R50 Terrano with the QD32ETI are 150hp and 245lb-ft torque and is a direct drop-in so clearly this option is the most ideal. As for using a gas-engine turbo, that'd require some research before actually applying it to real situations. I'd still be more comfortable sticking with a diesel-specific turbo, something along the lines of what AXT offers. I considered a TD42T turbo out of the Patrol/Safari; sadly the stock numbers are lower than the QD32ETI... Definitely more research would be needed. To be honest, I'd be just as happy with the bone-stock QD32ETI. I'd love more torque out of my R50, not to mention the fuel economy a diesel provides. For the intercooler, I'm thinking a top mount would be ideal with a custom hood as there is enough space between the hood and the engine. This is still way beyond me; I need to look into this more diligently before deciding. Only time well tell...

Thanks, any info related to this thread helps. I've come to realize this swap will not be cheap and I have more or less accepted the fact. However, I also know the long-term advantages of this swap and therefore I see the value in that. Rather than piece it all together, I think just getting the QD32ETI out of the R50 Terrano whole is a crucial first step. Once I've got all the OEM hardware, and only then, I'll look into upgrading. The AXT is just the initial option I discovered as it's alleged to offer considerable output over stock. I also thought about a SR20DET or RB20DET turbo swap as well. But before I get too carried away with all this, I need to locate a QD32ETI...

Agreed... I don't see that amount of modification being cost-effective in any way.
