  1. How to rebuild a RE4R01A automatic transmission. This is actually more along of a teardown procedure than a rebuild at the moment as I am inspecting the internals for damage for accessing value/cost of repair vs picking up a newer (Xterra) transmission. I'm also see if the internals can be upgrade to the "heavy duty" version of the later Xterra transmissions. Keep in mind, I'm not a professional tradesman. Just your typical average joe who likes take things apart. Pulling the guts out is a no-brainer and you really don't need a FSM for it. Where the FSM comes in handy is when you start taking apart the valve body. locations of the pins, valves, springs, spacers, washers, O-rings, seals, and different lengths of bolts is very critical so It's best to keep a "map" of where things go. Also it helps to have already taken it apart before LOL. If you manage the get your input shaft jammed inside the torque converter, it's pretty likely you may have damaged your torque converter. :roll: Remove the torque converter. Your input shaft should still be attached inside your transmission. Drain the fluid out of your torque converter. Remove the input shaft by pulling it out. It kind of snaps/locks inside the transmission with a detent. Remove the bellhousing. It's held onto the transmission by some 14mm bolts. On mine it looks like some sealant was use on the bolt shoulders to prevent fluid from leaking. Also, on mine, sealant was used on the oil pump so when I removed the bellhousing it came off stuck to the bellhousing. This is the backside of the oilpump stuck to the bell housing: needle bearings on the back side of the pump: Make a note of the rubber seals here in the grooves. They are split seals so make sure you do not loose them or forget to put them back on. Anyhow, if you're 2wd or 4wd, you'll need to remove the tailhousing/adapter to get access to the output shaft. Make note of how the parking pawl lock, spring, pin, and spacer are oriented. Remove and keep them in a baggy. Now remove the parking gear. It's held in place by a snap ring. You may need a small flat blade screw driver to help get it out along with your snap ring pliers. I had to but it could be that I'm using some cheap stuff. Once the snap ring is out, you can pull out the parking gear. Behind the parking gear is a small thin caged needle bearing. You'll see a lot of these later on. Remember the orientation of the bearing.
  2. Can someone take a picture or confirm the orientation of the driver side injectors on their vg30 or vg33? I forgot how mine is suppose to be wired and I am guessing the longer plug wire goes to the front most injector and the shortest goes to the far back one.
  3. It depends on the build date on the 93s. I have the early 93 which has the square tooth and the later 93s had the round tooth. 60k vs 105k timing belt change intervals.
  4. Spend some money and buy concrete sealer or garage floor sealer. Other option is buy a large sheet of plastic and throw it on the floor.
  5. If you have the skills, I'd make one. ARB, TJM, KMA, Shrockworks, etc. Calmini had a nice one but not enough interest to make one.
  6. Yes you can. There might be extra emissions stuff so just swap that stuff over.
  7. I ended buying a cordless angle grinder from Home Depot since I didn't have time to look around pawn shops. I figured I would have more use with it in the figure than I would with a sawzall. Didn't even consider renting or looking to see if they had one available to rent. Oh well. I only got 3/4 done when the battery gave out so I'll give it another shot again next time I'm off. There are a lot of spot welds which doesn't surprise me since this is an integral piece of the body. I also think the battery tray is welded onto it too. the lower front valence is bolted onto it by two bolts. guess what. I forgot to bring my 10mm wrenches and socks.

  9. Take the CRV. Throw the rear axle on jackstands and look at your issue. that's a real bad safety issue to ignore.
  10. You'll feel it more when you lift it higher than stock as your COG is raised.
  11. I need to cut off the front right body/fender support at the pick and pull. Anyone got any ideas how I can go about it cheap and fast. I would like a cordless Sawzall but it isn't cheap.   14. check to make sure none of your vacuum hoses are not rotted and leaking. There's one in the back of the upper intake manifold that connects to the fuel pressure regulator. The hose is near the firewall. There's also the possibility that your fuel filter is clogged. when you turn the key on, you should hear your fuel pump prime.

  19. The oil pickup tube is attached to the oil pump and bolted to the crank girdle. At the end of the tube is a mesh screen to prevent large debris from being sucked up. To access it, you will need to drop the oil pan. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using Tapatalk

  21. I have rarely heard of an oil pump going out. Check you distributor and cap. I had the rotor screw back out. Other thing I have seen is the woodruff key on the crank shear and timing go out of wack. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using Tapatalk
  22. It doesn't hurt to try and see if it fires up but you may want to drain the old fuel and put in some fresh stuff. Also make sure the battery is well charged or you replace it.
