  1. Well, I went to inspection on Saturday and failed!!! The lights for the license plate are out! When I looked, it's all rusted out. I'm taking her into the body shop on friday for all the little things. I have a question for all you ceramic coated Thorley header owners? Did the finish come off rather quickly? When I look at mine, where it connects to the head, it is still shiney, but about an inch and a half after it looks different. I'll take a pic and post what I am taking about. I also may call them and ask.

    Oil Cooler

Now that I have the new eingine, do yo uthink I should get an oil cooler? I will be running synthetic from now on, which I always did before. I still want to run a filter relocation kit. Will there be a problem running both a cooler and a relocation kit? Also, does anyone have any suggestions as to which electric fan I should get? AC has a few. Are any of them good? I'm not a big fan of theirs after reading all the sh!t about them, but something I need to look at the convenience factor too. Ti's all right there and I don't have to spend much time looking. I will be getting my body lift from them and most likely my rear rotors since they offer slotted rotors that are also drums.
  3. I think what looks to be a 0 is really an 8, but the line in it makes it hard to see.
  4. From what I understand, NAPA makes some pretty hard core tierods and ball joints. I was thinking about getting their lower ball joints for my truck.
  5. I could be wrong, but it may be a different kind of flex.
  6. Read this: Calmini Steering on Project Pathfinder
  7. I have some up on my cardomain page that are from before the new engine. It looks exactly the same with the new engine. The only difference is that is runs! I'm working on getting other things fixed now. I'm gonna get the calmini steering upgrade (yes I read the post about it) and I need to get the hole in the frame fixed. I get some pics after that is done. Then is pretty much what I WANT to do. Like the new cats, shoes, brakes, etc...
  8. Well, I'm in Virginia. Made it without blowing the new engine. Getting pretty good gas mileage too. I have 1/4 of a tank left and have 275 miles to the tank. The steering is still sloppy. That happened after I put the lift in. When I get back, I'm gonna order the calmini steering kit. Then, new cats and later this year I'll get some new rims and some 33X12.5's. There is a strong possibility that I'm going to get my chip upgraded and get that electric fan. I'm not sure how long I have to wait to break in the engine, but I'll ask when I get back. Once it's broken in, I'll have them put the new cams in. Oh, another BIG job I need to do is get new speakers and dynamat the doors and possibly the firewall. Damn truck is so loud on the highway.
  9. Well, I just got back from picking up the pathy. At the shop, they said they loved the way it sounds. So nice and quiet, but with a growl when you hit the gas. The new engine comes with a 3 year warranty. He is still waiting for my cams to be returned. He also didn't install my filter relocation kit. He wants the engine to break in first. He doesn't like the relocation kit. He thinks it looks cheap and is looking into something better. I also had to get a new clutch, throwout bearing, pilot bearing and have the flywheel resurfaced. So..... $5125.17 later I have my truck back. He said to me "God, you must really love this truck". I said, "Wait till you see what I want to do next!" Well, I'm off to Virginia and I'm taking the pathy with me to break inthe engine. Wish me luck.
  10. That's good to know. Before I changed the fluid, I the shift wouldn't be smooth. What I mean is, when i would depress the clutch and move the stick, the stick wouldn't always slide into place nicely. Sometimes, it felt like it was getting caught up on something, nut only a little bit. So, we hoped that this would solve the problem, plus I an a big believer in synthetics. When I get the truck back, which is supposed to be this week, we'll see how it feels.
  11. How does it fell now with the synthetic? Do you notice any difference?
  12. I have to agree. I had my torsion bars maxed out to the bump stops and the ride was way harsh.
  13. I have them, but not installed yet. Soon though. We want to break my engine in first before we install them. As for your other question. The JWT cams can be used in both engines. Not sure about the AC cams. Didn't look into them!
  14. I don't know much about the AC cams. I have the JWT street cams, however they are not installed yet. From what I understand, you will get between 12-15HP with them. If you have a problem passing inspection, there are a few ways to beat it. If you do cams, do the whole exhaust too. You will notice the most amount of improvement with a whole new exhaust including headers. It's a little much, but if you are after more power that is the way to go. You can do a chip after. Also, upgrade your air intake if you haven't already. JWT offers a Spring/Shim set that you can get. As for lifters, if yours have been in the car for a while, you will want/need to replace them. I don't know any good sources for them though.
  15. Well, after speaking with the shop today the engine is going in. They were just waiting for a gasket. Plus, I'm getting a new OE clutch and they are resurfacing the flywheel. I should have it back early next week in time for my Virginia trip. YAY!
  16. I say get them coated and get the filter relocation kit.

    Headers

I have the Ceramic coated Thorleys. I also have a oil filter relocation kit, but it obviously isn't installed in that pic.

    Headers

I seemed to have more room to get to the oil filter when I installed the headers. Here is a pic
  19. I have the Thorley Ceramic coated headers and a 3inch suspension lift. As far as I know, there is no fitment issue. It is rather close to the trans if I remember correctly. From what I hear about the ceramic coat is that it will keep the heat in the pipe and keep the velocity of the exhaust up for more power.
  20. It would take nother 6 pages to explain. Here is a quick breakdown. Bad choices/lack of knowledge on my part and an a$$hole of a mechanic!
  21. 88, do you think it will be that bad with a new engine and the current mods? I know mileage will go down, but power loss can't be that bad.
  22. I was told that the new engine came in last Thursday, they pulled the old one out on Friday and started to transfer parts. He said it is possible that I could have it by the end of the week. I don't want to push it, I want it done right!
  23. Oh, and to answer your question SLICK, the throwout bearing comes seprately for around $22 I think.
  24. I have a friend who drifts with his 240 and used to have a RX7. He said that centerforce clutches are complete crap. Looks like I'll be going with OE for now. I have the shop looking into whether I just need my clutch adjusted or if I need a new one.
