  1. By they way, I am jealous. I WANT!!!!! Oil changes for me cost a little more. $5 -$6 a quart for Mobil1 and $12 for the Mobil 1 filter. I don't mess around when it comes to oil and filters. Thats why I used Red Line in the trans and Amsoil in the diffs and transfer case. I also use M1 in my Audi, however I have amsoil in right now but am switching back to M1. in the next month or 2.
  2. Each of those filters holds like a quart of oil then add the lines. Wouldn't that be more like 5.5 - 6 quarts of oil?
  3. And I'm not done. I still have the high flow cats, new O2 sensors, stereo, lift kit, calmini steering kit, rims and tires, weather stripping, chip and possibly another set of new cams if I can use the ones I purchased due to damage.
  4. I think I am around the 15k mark including what I paid to purchase it. Hurts man. I feel your pain.
  5. Man, I almost got a TT, but got the S4 instead.
  6. I didn't have a light out, the whole bracket rusted out and the lights were just dangling there with dead bulbs. I never even noticed.
  7. Yeah, I was way under the numbers for emmissions also. When I failed it was because of the rear license plate lights. I went back today and passed. I had until tomorrow to go back. Can you say cutting it close? I'm taking here to Mass. tomorrow for a business trip. YAY!
  8. I was already there drinking massive amounts of Blue moon and some shots of So Co. and a few alambama slamers as yo can tell with my typing. yeah, I've pertyy nbuzzed right now
  9. I put Mobil1 5W-30 in. I may start using the new M1 SUV 5W-30 formula that just came out. As for plugs, I first had Bosch Platinums in, but I think I have NKG plugs in now.
  10. Oh Slick if you only knew. I just got my estimate for the work done on my beast. To fix box sides of the frame under in the rear wheel well, new license plate light bracket with lights, stoppers for glove box, fix dent in door and fix holes under rear seats, I got hit with a $2048 bill. The bracket and the holes in the frame were $1000 just by themselves. That hurt me. It's another $700 for the rest of the stuff. Thats sandblast and paint tire carrier and brushguard, new rubber flaps in front wheel well and check and repair all wether stripping. I felt like crying, I almost had a heart attack. I still need to take the truck back to the shop and have them take the headers out so I can send them back to Thorley, have new O2 sensors put in, high flow cats installed and all bushings checked then have the headers re-installed. I wonder what that is gonna cost. There goes getting a chip and exhaust for my S4. I'll have to wait a couple of months or longer now for that stuff. And to top it all off, this has been like the worst week ever for me at work. To much drama and politics!
  11. Welcome. Where in NJ are you from?
  12. I finally got a response from Thorley on the headers. I'll post it below. Good Morning Rich, After reviewing the pictures I would say that something has caused the exhaust temp to be a lot higher than normal. Has the engine been rebuilt anytime recently? Have you replaced the catalytic converter yet? Have the O2 sensors been replaced yet? I would not be inclined to warranty these out at this point based on the pictures provided. -Sean They have been installed on a brand new factory remanufactured engine that I bought in January and had installed in January. The CATS and the O2 sensors have not been replaced with the new engine. They were inspected prior to install. -Rich Good Morning Rich, That would be the cause of the coating failure. A new/rebuilt engine usually puts out exhaust temps way beyond the normal realm of that coating. I also highly recommend changing the cats and O2 sensors every 60K miles. The cats do become clogged with debris that would cause a incorrectly flowing exhaust. This usually causes exhaust temps to be higher than normal too. Thanks -Sean Sean, I just got off the phone with the shop that did the install. The state that the CATS and the O2 sensors fine. They also called the company that rebuilt the engine and they state that if a new engine is hotter than a used engine, it is only by a couple of degrees. Considering your statement that "A new/rebuilt engine usually puts out exhaust temps way beyond the normal realm of that coating", that would mean that I would only be able to install these headers on a used engine. No where in the documentation nor your website does it state "no new engines" nor does it state "CATS and O2 sensors must be replaced prior to install". According to the shop that did the install and purchase of the motor, if the problem did indeed stem from CATS or the O2 sensors I would have other symptoms which I do not. Looking at the pics, it seems to me that they were coated in some spots but others were missed. -Rich Rich, An engine being broken in will produce temps above and beyond that of an engine already broken in. Ultimately, at this point, we can do this; Send me the headers, I will have them inspected for coating defect and either replaced or recoated and then I will send them back. This is all explained on both the web site and possibly through the paperwork that came with the headers depending on who you bought the kit through. This is the best I can offer. -Sean
  13. This is what I used. Trans - Redline MT-90 GL4 Front and Rear Diff (so far no LSD additive needed)- Amsoil Transfer Case - Amsoil Automatic Trans Fluid The transfer case uses ATF just so you know.
  14. Sounds like something that would happen to me.
  15. I haven't really inspected it, but the tip looks like it has lost some of the coating or maybe it just needs to be polished. The Borla comes with a Million Mile Warranty so if it breaks, get it replaced! I would say that I have had it installed for 2 years, but only has 10,000 miles on it at the most.
  16. I have the Borla and got it for $400 from a local speed shop. I got the Thorley Ceramic coated headers from Summit for $440, but had to wait like 4 months for them.
  17. I could be WAY off, but installing a body lift doesn't affect the suspension as far as I know.
  18. I didn't do the install myself. Basically half the motor was already out, so I'm sure it wasn't that bad.
  19. Simon, you are correct. I have to see what I am going to do. I might have to threaten the IRS and see if that works. I still have a bunch of other things to buy for my beast and adding an additional $560 is not in the budget.
  20. Yuo need to change the shifter? Please, don't tell me that!
  21. Well, this day officially just got worse. The shop called and told me that they got my cams back from the engine dealer. He said the cams were damaged and look like they were oil starved. That's another $560 I lost on this deal. Bringing the total to $2560 in lost parts. Now, I'm really mad! I WANT the cams, but how do I justify another $560 on them? I can take the other guy to court and probably win, but there is no way I get get the money out of him.
  22. I've heard that conversation and you don't know what happened before that. The guy who tapes the conversion just happened to have a tape recorder handy? He probably harrassed the guy on the other end and when he decides to record it he makes himself sound like he is a perfect angel. Reminds me of Michael Moore. All that guy wants to sound intelligent but really wants to put other people down to make himself feel better.
  23. I may have to buy a second pathfinder. I can't let the current lift and steering upgrade go to waste. I LIKEY!
  24. Oh Oh Oh. First oil change tomorrow. Now, the engine is officially broken in. Mobil 1, here I come!
