  1. Hmm sounds like the tranny is in fail safe mode, somewhere theres a how to on getting the tranny out of fail safe mode..
  2. I agree on the cv or one of the gears inside of it where its binding up. I would pull the wheel off and pull out the cv if possible..
  3. Sorry to jack the thread for a bit, but I have a question. I'm okay with the R50's suspension, I just haven't worked on it a lot though.. I was looking at a buddys R50 and he said the front end is having a lot of problems. He said the struts were brand now but the steering was off and it wanders a lot and makes a noise. After looking at it for a minute, when he turned the wheel, the passenger side strut would move. The spring would slightly rotate when ever he turned the wheel. I checked the sway bar and that seemed to be in good shape. I'm thinking to the strut needs to be taken out and checked again. Or should he just retighten down and get an alignment? Thanks for the help
  4. Try the new belt, you never know. The bolt to my belt tensioner broke causing the timing belt to jump. The pathy would still start after the valves got bent up and would still run, but it sounded horrible. Which led me to the VG33 swap. The VG33 is an interference motor for sure.

  6. Not really sure the story behind my pathy. It was my uncles as far as I can remember but I don't know if he got it new or used. He gave it to the family either in 04 or 05. My dad and sister would drive it every now and then but then it sat for a yeah on the side of the house. I was 15 and started tinkering around with it then, I loved it! So I claimed it as "mine" and has been mine ever since. Original trans has over 245,000 and still going. It's starting to show some ware and tear, but I will never get rid of this thing. It's my life.

  10. I have 2 gauges in mine, the original one never worked of course.
  11. On the inside, I know there a little plastic clip that likes to come off or break that goes to the locking actuator. It could have just fallen out of the little hole.
  12. 4x4parts has some too.. I haven't met anyone yet that upgraded the ecu, a buddy of mine has some sort of v-force chip on his 97 pathy but that's as close to I know of.
  13. Napa's 10w30 and 5w30 (valvoline) and a little marvel mystery oil is all I put in.

  17. Okay I gotcha now. At first I was like .....he must have gone another route besides keeping the original crank or something. Yeah I remember I had to buy mine from the stealership.. can't remember how much though, over 65 for sure though.
  18. Shouldn't the oil filter be in the front already if you have the vg33?
  19. what adamzan said, do an ecu test, if you don't know how look it up in the how area, or if you have a manual it's in there also.
  20. I got a quick question, sorry to jack the thread but it's exhaust related. But, I have the vg33 swap motor in with the stock exhaust up to the muffler then it's 2.25 back from there. So my question would be do you think it would help if I made it like 2.5 all the way through? I don't want to be choking the motor up. I noticed when I did the engine swap it sounded different, right before the swap I got a flowmasters muffler put on and it doesn't seem as loud as it once was.. But thanks for any info.
  21. I haven't had it happen to me but, when I pulled my out a while back I remember the whole thing just fell apart in my hands. So, be careful when pulling out. A bad relay?

  23. How does it feel on the freeway? I've had the front off all summer then put it back on in Aug, but it feels sketchy enough with the 33's. I should just take it off and see I suppose..
