and it seems gas prices went up 20 cents without me noticing... Its a good thing these pathys are so fuel efficient....
-
hmm i will play with photoshop maybe later tonight... need a break from finals studying. Would these be hard doors or soft?

Insurance companies suck, I have been pretty fortunate with USAA, but alot of my civilian friends have not faired so well.

Thats a pretty sweet looking place.. Wish I wasnt busy

I know they are different however how different i am not sure of... Could buy a cheap clear pair of ebay if you have the extra coin floating around and play with em, however you still wouldnt have the correct socket to install the bulb (ran into this problem when i got 99.5 tail lights for my 97)..
-
99.5+ pathys have the double duty markers too... If nothing else put two bulbs in there.. It would take a little engineering of the marker itself but I think it could be done. Run the wires that currently control the bumper blinker to a new socket/bulb that you drill/install into the markers. Of course the blinker bulb must be a higher wattage but shoudnt be an electrical problem if you are running the blinker wires up there as I know that bulb is bigger/brighter than the wimpy marker lights on our trucks...

chilkoot is a Canadian special edition pathy (am I correct?)

Somone said something about a "fix kit" that is available to us pre 99.5's.. They were able to correct it in the newer ones with this "fix kit" so I think you shoudl be ok... Correct me if I'm wrong.

whatever, unibodys are THE SHIZZLE off road... wait, no they arent... Is the 96+ 4Runner unibody or frame rail?

I was thinking about trying to retrofit the electronic glass release from a first gen s-10 blazer. The concept it pretty simple just a matter of making it work I believe. I agree with you though, I would use the glass alot more if I could open it without the key

That looks NICE. Now I am quite jealous.

This has got to be the most frustrating vehicle for suspension I have ever had to deal with... Kmgar - great site, good info thanks. It's looking like this is going to be an expensive Spring...
-
How laborious is the job? If it's not that bad couldn't you buy a new one and then just replace each one until you find the bad one?

Meineke custom bent pipe?
-
I wonder if the lack of 4x equip up front allowed for the greater lift?...
-
Now I was under the impression on a 97 the BRAKE(!) light was solely in reference to the parking brake as I believe there is also a fluid light. One night off road I came over a bump and high centered and think I bent my parking brake line as I have to really push it down to get that light to turn off..

check this out. This is what a couple members on here have done. i did it myself this fall, in my school parking lot. Pretty simple upgrade and the power is noticable especially at the higher RPMs.

Dude, your truck looks nice. I had read people had negligable lift at best from the OME springs, but your before and after photos show otherwise. Nice ride.
-
So you folks who put on the OME's ever wish you had gone with the AC lift?
-
how much did the bushing job end up costing you? I know the bushings are something like 30 a package and you need 4 packages. Then the labor to press/install. Here was why i wanted to do the springs - I feel like the swaying/bushing wear out was caused by my rear springs/shocks being fatigued (the bump stops are just rolling around inside of there from bottoming out) and therefore putting excess stress on my control arms. For me, this problem just started with this most recent trip and it occured maybe 3 or 4 times for periods of about 10-20 seconds during the entire trip. I was hoping that by replacing the springs/shocks I could buy myself some time.. Any thoughts?
-
SWEET, thats what I was hoping to hear, I don't know if I will be able to get the bushing issue resolved while I am here at school, but I am pretty sure I can make springs/shocks happen. It was a long, almost scary, 6 hour drive back to ohio after winter break and don't really want to repeat that with twice the load when I head home for the summer.
-
That's my motivation to tackling this project too. did you order new arms or just new bushings?
-
oh so it's not a drastic sag in the front end. I was fearing my path going the route of a top fuel dragster.. I guess I will just try it out and if it bothers me tear it all back apart and put in a spacer. Thanks for the help 96!

ahh now I have been enlightened. what about the AC lift? does that provide even ride height? or how about these spaces how hard are they to fab? Or maybe I would just get the heavy duty spring and deal with the rough ride.
-
I was under the impression that the truck had the springs put on all around. OME calls their springs a "lift kit" so only buying them for the rear naturally would make the rear higher than the front... If this is the case and the truck does have 4 OME springs, what (for you people who have them) would cause this? I am also looking to put the OME springs on and if this is the result that happens what would correct that?
