  1. love the look and stance... With all that snow already there, where are you from ??
  2. put -bracket-img-bracket-...-bracket-/img-bracket- to see the pictures...
  3. That's about it.... I'll soon have the front locker on and I worriy a bit about the inner tie-rod on my pathy... I've seen enough of them fail to the pressure of a locker and was wondering if anyone have seen or heard about a beefier one or has all the specs of the original one that I could use for a starting point to have a custom one machined... S.
  4. yep welcome... for the noise, try a little wd-40 in the 2 belt tensionners (ac and ps) just before starting it... S.
  5. yes this fluid will work. As for the filter, I do not change the filter. I'm pretty sure I read the filter is good for the lifetime of the truck, unless of course, something is wrong with the trans and that it slips or something else. Then yes I would change the filter then. As for the gaskets, well I use the drain plug on my 01 pathy and there is not gasket..just a copper washer that does not need to be changed... so unless there is a drain plug gasket on the 2003, don't buy it. As for the amount to put in, if your dipstick shows that you have the good amount in, then what you do, is that you use any kind of graded plastic container (at least 5 liters) and you let the trans drain in it from the drain plug. once it's drained, remember the number, then fill the same container to the same amount with fresh oil and put it back... That's what I do... S.
  6. wohhh... That's obviously a manufacturing defect.... I would show these pictures to michelin.... maybe you could get a replacement for free.... worth a try... S>
  7. well... I decided after ALLLLLL this to just bite the bullet and have it delivered to my office... so i'll pay the duties and the delivery... I thought that it was taking too much of my brain space !... so I loose 150$ for piece of mind... since I don<t have a 3rd diff on my truck, this should be the last time I buy a locker....
  8. THIS is FREAKING COOL !!!! a camper with attitude.... I love it... bravo !
  9. every 5000km and I use mobil 1 2000 high mileage with fram high mileage filter..
  10. yep same for me...mobil 1 high mileage (non syntetic) 5w30 year long... with a fram high mileage oil filter that releases oil additives over time... http://www.fram.com/oil-filters/high-mileage.php My engine has 200K on it it runs like new... ;-)
  11. I'm from the school were I would rather have prepared everything for nothing then having nothing prepared and improvise... In the mean time, I have figured out what I will do... Since my deal with the guy for a used locker fell through (he wanted to much for a 6 Yo locker), I have decided to buy it new, but to have it shipped to freeport fowarding http://www.freeportforwarding.com/index.htm . They offer a service where they will accept a package for you for 3$ until you come and get it. So this way I save shipping fee (since the shipping is free in the usa from where I buy it), then I'll follow the idea of going dinner and probably go shopping for christmas anyway. I'll just put the locker in my parts bin ... I'll let you how this worked soon.
  12. I'm helping my uncle who has a pathy 2002 LE with auto climate control .. I will be trying to fix it in a week or 2 but wanted to gather some opinions from you guys first... He tells me that when the climate control is set to some x degrees, it is always colder in the truck then what has been selected. meaning that he will need to set the climate to 30Celsius (100 f), for it to eventually start the heater.. or else it just does not heat in there... He tells me that he does not have this problem in summer when the AC needs to kick in...just when it's time to heat things up.... Could this be the sensor in front ?? He does not have any fan issues like I have read...just temperature that does not seem to match what is written on the climate control face.... S.
  13. I'm about to go to the USA to buy a arb locker for my rig from a person (not a store). The locker is new but the box has been opened. It has been bought about 3 years ago but the guy does not have the sale receipt anymore. I'm planning on going by car and coming back in the same day. Of course I would like to save the GST/ tvq and custom fees etc.. and was thinking about the scenarios I could do. 1) telling the custom guys in usa that I'm going to get a used good from a private guy and having the guy sign a paper that he sold me the part for a ridiculous price. Would I pay the duties on that price when coming back ? I could probably make the box look used a bit more by bending it etc...putting grease on it... 2) telling the custom guys in usa that i'm going to another city , like platsburgh, going for shopping for a particular item, and when coming back saying I did not buy anything. I would put the locker in my parts bin in my truck where I already have half-shafts, tools, oils, etc... and if they ask I say this is a spare part Is there any particular laws for bringing used goods ?? how does it work ?? we surely not have to pay the duty fees of the item when it was new right ? What are your ideas and advices about this.? any other scenario that would work better ?? Tks
  14. could not be happier....we did not saved jim's truck for nothing ! ... yeehaaa! congrats!
  15. "When I'm in park and rev it to about 1500rpm's the tach bounces consistently and I can't figure out why" On my truck I have no code or misfire, but I do have this 1500rpm thing.... I can hold it at 1000 or 2000 or 3000 etc... but their is something at 1500...just cannot keep it there. It goes up and down.... I don't have power loss or high gas mileage etc... So I have no codes or performance loss but do suffer from the same 1500 thing (only on park)... So I doubt this is related to your code.... Sorry I cannot help more for the rest...
  16. be carefull with the latest reply for the transfer case.... those who have the atx14a need to put transmission oil (dextron III), because this tc has set of cluth pack a bit the same as in a automatic transmission. If you have the AT10X, then you have a regular TC that needs something else....I just can't recall what type of oil, but I know it's not ATF... If you have a dial inside the cab that you can switch to auto for the TC, then you have the later model (atx14a)....
  17. It really depends on the tires you choose... If i remember good gpg had truxs that were 32.5 OD. I'm looking for BFG KM2 which are 33.3 That's a whole 3/4 inch more /2 to find for space... I know for sure, the hardest will be at the back just behind the rear doors.... At full flex... I'm pretty sure you'll have to remove some metal material at the rear fender.... for the front it's just plastic... Too bad you have to do it right now, cause I would be able to better help you somewhere in the beginning of next trail season as I'll be putting mines... Well, if you go for it, take pictures (flexing that is)... S.
  18. You'll need your pal to apply the brakes while you undo the cv bolts.... I guess everything is easier when you're not alone
  19. you can remove it by removing the balljoint (3 bolts) then...having someone pry the strut assembly towards the oustide of the fender while you bend into shape the cv to get it out helps a lot... That's how mine were done...2 guys, about 15 minutes each side... S.
  20. I know, it's possible.... someone stole my mud flaps.... I know they were there this summer...man ... WHY WHY WHY !!!! ?????
  21. in a few words I would say : differential drop brackets and thermoplastic half-shaft boots. I should be done this winter...
  22. Hey Junx... congrats on your new baby! I have said it before, but since no one has yet suffer from a TC failure because of this you can take the following comment with a grain of salt and decide for yourself... The manual hubs.... I would not consider having them unless they would serve as a <fuse> for breakage instead of braking an half-shaft on the trail. I say this, because my investigation for those of us that have the atx14x TC could potentially damage it by lack of oiling. You can see my thread here : http://npora.ipbhost.com//index.php?s=&amp...st&p=405931 My opinion, is that I would rather change a boot of halfshaft any day to a transfer case.... Anyway, for the half-shaft, I will soon have something to offer to the forum here that will take care of this problem.. for the clunking noise, you're stuck with it unless you put some limiting straps. This too will eventually create noise, but should be less than the strut toping itself. Have fun.
  23. I can assume it's been quite a ride since 3 years (for both of you....) Congrats on doing the right thing on this one... 'life is not about if you fall or not, but on what you do once you're down...' welcome back
