just put on the e-fan and be done with it. that's a better solution anyway.

that's normal on old truck man. just get new boots. AC has them pretty cheap. Autozone does too. it may not look like they got dirt in them but why chance it? the new boots should come with new grease. this is a fairly easy job. there is quite a bit to disasseble though. you'll need to remove the axles and then seperate the joints to remove the old boots and to put on the new ones. clean it out really good and pack it full of the new grease. you should be good to go for quite some time. good luck.

i've never used any special tools. by feel is just fine.. after the initial tightening, did you spin the wheel to seat the bearing properly? then back it of just enough to allign the holes? i can't remember exactly but i am thinking they call for like 30ftlbs.. you can guesstimate that force, no?

^^^ not exactly.. there was an fj-25 way early on and i think there might have been a couple of numbers even before that. the new one is just FJ but originally (in development) they did call it fj-40.

no, you're right.. 40 is shorty and 55 is the long one with two doors in the back that open to the sides. and i have had water go down the air vents by the windshield but unlike headpiece my truck didn't really care for it.. it coughed and sputtered and i filled my britches.. i was in the middle of real BFE in UP of MI. wasn't my smartest move at all especially since i only saw a couple of peeps all day.. live and learn.. btw. that was in 2wd too untill i saw the water go down the vents.. it was a quick shift and pedal to the metal.. scared myself hard.. lol i may even have a blurry action shot somewhere here.. don't count on it popping up any time soon though

i have had very similar experiences in fj-40 and fj-55.. maybe it's a japanese thing.

the adjuster is in the middle not at the drums/rotors. + you didn't really say which part of the cable busted.. it's 3 piece. (thanks for the correction GG) p-j, i thought you were selling the parts off? back to trying to put them back together?
