How many miles do you get from a full tank?
Kittamaru replied to zack1978's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
*ponders* What all affects MPG? Air Resistance Rolling Resistance Driving Habits Bad Fuel Clogged Filters Clogged Injectors Old plugs Old wires distributor cap and rotor old oil? leaks? etc? -
Does it pull or simply "veer"... when driving on a decent slope, gravity WILL tend to "slide" you downhill... so you have to correct It's why high-speed turns in NASCAR are sloped - otherwise they'd simply run off the track

I think getting street tires to reduce rolling resistance and re-doing the paint/clearcoat and fixing the rust spots should help me... improved aerodynamics +1 MPG and reduced rolling resistance +1mpg >_> I can dream, right? -
Strange 4WD problem this morning...

Go to neutral before shifting into, and out of, 4Lo, and be sure the tranny had time to relax When coming out, it may be bound up, keeping it stuck in 4lo - try putting it in neutral, moving to 4x4 high, and reversing STRAIGHT BACK a little, then forward a little, again, perfectly straight. Any "binding" force should be released by this motion -
Oh... where is that located? I didn't see it in my haynes manual 0o' Do they call it something different?

*nods* Like I said - a few months after my new plugs/wires/cap/rotor and a few uses of Lucas products to clean the injectors and fuel lines (and shortly a new fuel filter) and I'm able to squeak about 350 before my idiot light comes on Problem is, my fuel gauge doesn't work, so my idiot light is my ONLY warning... that's my 2 gallon warning isn't it? -
I have a Haynes manual, but it doesn't have images for my engine... the '90 it says uses the carburated engine (wtf? I'm definately MPFI) and some of the things it lists I don't have... so yeah. And like i said - I work full time + student full time + planning a wedding + Pathy being my DD = I have no time to fix her up I hope to get an Altima or Versa soon... but I don't know when I could afford one

I can push approx 350 miles to a tank... but that's bringing it very low. -
Newbie: info needed.. Interchangable 1992 keys?

Think it's time I replace my tumblers and locks with new ones and get a laser cut key system 0o' -
I fully intend to... when... well, one when I have the time (she's my daily driver, I work (currently) a full time AND a part time job, am a full time student, and am planning a wedding) and the money (wedding... school... necessities...) Problem is, I don't think I have the technical know-how to do it... I'm deathly afraid to take the top end of my engine off... again... Did it once... my mechanic nearly backhanded me with a torque wrench when I begged him to come over and help me put it back together! Granted, that was a few years ago and I didn't know jack-all about the truck... but still...
-
Here's the problem... if I use that on my engine... will my valve cover leak come back (it's being held in by gunk atm )
-
Yeah... I dunno mate. I'm wary of anything that says it can do more than simply clean some of the gunk out of your engine... but it might be worth a shot
-
Lol, Nytros, that's why i kept editing my post... the more I read up on it, the more I started to be swayed... maybe I'll try it
-
It's crap... read the product page: Pardon me... but how do you soak something into metal...? Last time I checked, metal wasn't considered a "porous" material... now, if it's ERODING the metal, maybe you could mis-construe that as "soaking into it"... Maybe... just maybe... if the SAE actually endorses it... then maybe. But ONLY if they actually give it the go ahead... You know what... now I'm not so sure... they provide MSDS's for them... so obviously they do conform to ASE standards... Maybe there is something to it... I'll give it a shot once I get my paycheck - I recently did an injector cleaner concentrate... normally I get ~~~ 250 miles per tank... this time I got 300 *shrugS*

Oh, we'd be taking the seats out to get at the spot and putting duck-blankets (welding blankets) over the rest of the inside of the ship
-
Dude... you want to come to PA and help me sort a few things out with mine? I'd LOVE to learn straight from someone that knows what their doing

Probably be better off cutting out the rotten frame and welding in donor sections 0o' Lol

For the carpal tunnel, try having your significant other give you deep tissue massages on each hand twice a day (if she can). It'll help dramatically... I do a lot of data entry... different motions, but similar problems
-
Well, with my new job, borrowing or renting one becomes an option in about a month (first paycheck is going to be used to cover some of the wedding costs upfront) As for removing the rust - the plan is to cut out ALL the rusted/damaged material... that's a lot sadly. And I called the local junkyards and you pull it's... none of them have any Pathfinders there. I even told them to make SURE they weren't confusing a Rodeo and a Pathfinder ( don't ask... it's been done here too many times) andd no dice We plan to do sheet metal, yes - the fiberglass would go over the metal to prevent water seepage and to be used to form a better surface, then it'd be undercoated/bedlined.

I don't have access to a TIG machine sadly. *ponders* I might be able to get a Stick welder... but... that's 220 as well
