My '90 just passed 155k

heh... well... actually... yeah. Don't have any gear, but I have painted houses before 0o' @ pezzy - we're not going for anything Super extravagent, but she wants her friends and family there for the ceremony We're also doing a slightly more celtic tradition, with a hand-tying ceremony. Graciously my pastor (It's a UCC church) agreed even though it's a little ab-normal for our church Bad news though - because of how new an employee I was, the Union is not able to represent me after all... le'sigh. EDIT - oh, and precise - that actually bout how many people we're inviting - between close friends and family, it's around 53 including the wedding party (ushers, bridesmaids, et al)

No no no no no... lol... I already replaced the plugs/wires/cap/rotor. It's running a bit better, but it's running rich. The old plugs I took out were gapped nearly THREE times what they should have been.. think that had something to do with the truck running like crap What I need to do now is bring back how much fuel is being used. I know there's a way to adjust that, just dont' know what it is. Also, AFAIK the O2 checked out fine last time, and my emissions were good before I had the trouble with stuttering (which the new plugs and wires resolved). I guess I could replace it, but I'm pretty well strapped for cash atm... have 1500 total to my name and most of that is dedicated to the wedding plans.

Used the search function, but didn't find anything terribly informative - What I want to do is tune-up my truck myself... I don't know if it's posible considering I dont' have any fancy equipment, but with just being laid off I need to save cash where I can... the truck needs a tune up as she's running VERY rich at the moment... after new plugs, wires, cap, and rotor is when this started. The MPG is down from where it should be, but improved since the new gear. How hard and/or what is involved in a tune up? Would my Haynes manual really be able to walk me thru it? I figure the biggest part right now is "choking" it back a little... isn't that the set of screws on the throttle body that do that?
-
I average about 16 right now, but I haven't had a good tune-up since the new plugs, wires, cap, and rotor were done... I can smell that it's running rich so yeah

We had been planning on a very small JoP wedding... but when she was given a promotion to corporate and I got this job, we decided it'd be nice to actually have a ceremony. Neither of our parents did (my parents eloped and had a "reception" at pizza hut and never had a honeymoon... now they're lucky to speak to one another without trying to kill each other and my alcoholic father is too damn stubborn to change OR let my mom go so he's dragging her down with him) and her's... well... her father died a number of years ago while she was but 10... anyway, I dont' know... we didn't want a large production, but a nice little ceremony at the church my grandparents got married at 55+ years ago with them there... it just felt right... Oh, and no beer please. She doesn't drink and I'm never planning to start given how my father is.

I hope so... just applied for a Manager position at U-Haul near me... maybe Slick can give me a recomendation? heh
-
... well... yeah. Lost my supposedly secure job with the Dept. of State... after only 6 months... guess it makes sense, I was low man on the totem pole and all... if someone was going to get cut I guess it was gonna be me... *sighs* Any recommendations? Lol... wedding is in 3 months so I need something post haste and I don't really know what, if anything, I can do about it right now Thanks Big Eddie... I owe ya one!

The Murrano and Rogue are pretty good vehicles to be honest... good for your "never really see off-road but need a vehicle able to handle it just in case" kind of guy What surprises me is that the Desiel Terrano isn't in there 0o'
-
My grandfather was test-driving a dual-wheeled F350 with a long-throw 6 speed manual gearbox... (was for my uncle down in SC who thinks he needs it to tow an equipment trailer that my pathfinder could easily tow *sighs* My uncle isn't very bright)... Was interesting... he used to drive for Greyhound... 30 some years ago. After about 5 minutes of sitting at a stop sign trying to figure out the system, we realized the problem - the throw was almost twice as long as he was used to 0o' Once he figured that out, we hopped on the highway and he flew thru all 6 gears without touching the clutch once 0o' I was like O_O PS - I'm only just learning to drive a stick via my mom's Kia Rio - POS I know, but it's a light and forgiving car
-
We were looking at one in the area... but apparently it had issues of some sort because the dealership wouldn't sell it... the Subaru, literally, fell in our lap Besides, it's nice having a quick, sporty car that still works well in winter
-
*shrugs* Maybe, but in Philly I had the advantage plenty of times Poor road conditions (ever been to philly? Potholes there will swallow that superbike whole ) gave my Pathy the advantage over ricers and the tight roads (some were more 1.5 lane than 2) gave my smaller size an advantage over the big V8 trucks and full-size SUV's Tis all about location with that, I know
-
Ah, aighty Though you was pickin on lil ole me
-
That's what I'm looking at now - was hoping to find a local store so I didn't have to pay shipping but not sure that's gonna happen
-
What do you mean a Pathy won't beat a V8? I LOVE beating F250's, Tundra's, and other large pickups off the light at stoplights... their V8 simply doesn' react fast enough. In my experience, V6 = faster response, V8 = more raw power. I keep pressure on the brake, raise the RPM to 1500 (since I'm an auto), an once the light turns dump the accelerator to the floor... actually lifts the front end a little bit (not enough to pull the ttires off the ground of course, but you get pushed into the seat a little... nto bad for an SUV ) and leaves the big boy sitting with his thumb up his arse Though... I did have a Dodge Ram beat me once... but it was a &^%*ing turbocharged hemi... lol. I didn't know he was turbo'd till I heard the whine kick in and he passed me like I was standing still 0o' I also got schooled by a Subaru WRX STI... my first introduction to that BEAUTIFUL machine I almost kept pace with him round the corners (due to the roads in philly being so bad, he couldnt' open up) until he cut someone off who swerved into my lane... dunno WHY he shifted lanes... *shrugs*

*nods* The Studded snow tires were kinda making me crosseyed with the laws around here in PA XD Best I can gather, unless there's 3+ inches of snow, they're illegal lol... I'll look around at the Hankook Icebears... thing is, I need to find some place round here that sells tires and/or wheels witthout trying to rape you up the bum
-
Heh, precise, you know I have a point. A Subaru Legacy is NOT an SUV, and I want to give my darling every advantage in the snow... she's the love of my life and I worry about her.. wouldn't you do the same for your wife/girlfriend?
-
LOL, thing is though - her car has about 8 inches less clearance than my truck Plus, your All Season tires are FAR more grippy than a Subaru Legacy's Performance Street tires Truck vs Car = Apples vs Camels
-
For an old SUV, pathy's are plenty fast. They're big thing, though, is the ability to go damn near anywhere... and when you're in deep mud/snow/sand or on ice speed doesn't count... torque, power, and the control to get them to the ground do
-
Lol, let me break it down for you: Good Car + Good Tires + No Driver Skill = Problems Good Car + Bad Tires + Good Driver Skill = Problems Bad Car + Good Tires + Good Driver Skill = Problems Good Car + Good Tires + Good Driver Skill = No Problems She has performance Street Tires atm, she needs something with a bit more grip on ice and snow before her skills really start to matter And like I said - her only real trouble is our (heavily sloped) driveway and street
-
Lol, she's a better driver than most, I have to give her credit for that
-
*grins* Snow tires WILL help prevent the person behind her plowing into her... because with good reflexes (and a bit of luck) she'll be able to avoid that ass I had one person plow into me... mini cooper vs pathfinder is NOT pretty... for the cooper.
-
Well, like I said - the big thing is her street NEVER gets plowed, so the tracks are created, melt, refreeze, melt a little, are re-tracked, et cetera. While I have no problem even in 2WD ... her vehicle doesn't like it too much, and I think it's cause she has factory A/S Performance tires.
-
The A/S tires are decent... but they're just that... All Season. She's also not terribly skilled in snow an ice, so any edge I can giver her, you know Her car has AWD, Traction Control, ABS, Stability Control, and all those other fun features... but without good tires and good driving skills, they mean naught So yeah... looking for a snow tire... but all I see really are Snow Performance tires... *shrugs* Save for the two I listed Any previous experience with em?
-
Anyone?
