Get it? Hellav it? Hella...? yeah... *cough* Anyway I'm looking at two options... Hella and KC... the local A&A has both, but I don't know jack all about them. I'm assuming I'd need to wire in a relay to power them, as I'd wager the stock fog light switch wouldn't be desirable - how difficult is it to do this for someone with near-zero electrical experience (but mediocre knowledge - I have taken a few electronics classes) How well do they work? Are they worth the effort for on-road driving? Are they Legal in PA? I honestly don't even know how to find out, and google isn't being terribly helpful

Drops? Like... unused pieces of metal? There are PLENTY of fab shops around here... just not many normal suppliers.
-
Check your t-bars mate... you had her lifted before hand I'm assuming?
-
*nods* I'll look at them then mate. The other two online stores I found it would have been hella expensive to have it shipped to me, on top of the price of the metal itself.
-
Precise, the problem is, there's only a handful listed in the phone book within a 40 mile radius of Harrisburg PA... and as I said before, I don't get out of work till 5pm. I could send someone else to get it if I knew exactly what kind of metal I need. All I know atm is it cannot be stainless (bitch to weld with) and I need a fair bit of it.
-
I can try that... but I don't know if I even have enough good metal to make brackets like that
-
Nearest one is in Pittsburgh, which is a 2-3 hour drive I'll e-mail them... but they close at 5, which is when I get out of work. Now, if they're open weekends I could make the drive... it'd be worth it to be able to fab my own equipment
-
Alright, I'll have to look into getting the can then. Hopefully there's enough spare angle iron and scrap metal at the shop to make this with... it wouldn't be such a big deal if I could at least place an order and have someone pick it up, but the only "retail dealer" of metal around here... has no website to order from and every time I call nobody is there... makes me wonder if it's legit 0o'
-
I didn't know that... huh. I guess I'll give her a go once I have a little spare time. 3x final projects on the run = ARGH
-
Is that mounted to the stock tire carrier? Or is that actually bolted to the frame?
-
We actually don't have enough uniform metal to do that, and unless I can find a place around here that doesnt' close by 3pm (gah, what the hell, really?) I don't know what I'll do to get enough metal for that I already do have a plan for the cargo area, but it's on hold until I manage to drill out the screws for the tie-down points (they're well stuck) which wouldn't be hard except the one is, pretty much, fused to the cargo area itself even WITH the screws out. That and I want to do it with nice looking diamond-patterned steel plate and actually make a mini-toolbox back there
-
I should probably state that, as things stand right now, I only have access to plate metal. The jerry can holder is interesting... where does one normally attach those? *wanders off to google*

ARGH! All the damn metal shops around here seem to close before I get out of work! And I can't take off a day from work because I'm still in my probationary period (90 day probation for new employees in the Commonwealth of PA). ARGH! I have one last ditch idea before I run out... I want to make a new bumper for the pathfinder... but the only metal I really have to work with is thin plate metal, and not very high quality metal at that! Can anyone give me an idea of what a good welding project would be that's Pathfinder related and doesn't need mega-expensive metal?
-
No, because I don't have a torque wrench to use and I'm afraid to try with the air gun... daily driver fears
-
my oil always comes out black... but I use conventional oil (Valvoline Conventional) + Lucas... I'm tempted to go to Synthetic... but I'm afraid to do so before I fix my leaky valve cover gasket - the synthetic oil with more detergents would make it leak again (atm, it's plugged up and thus not leaking) I also still need to replace my radiator + install a tranny cooler
-
Black Shoe Polish. It's what I use Keeps it looking great, though you have to be gentle and careful else it'll look like ass.
-
What would you pay for this 91' Pathy?
Kittamaru replied to BonnerBB's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
Nah, these trucks last for evah! Treat her like a tomboy girlfriend- be gentle when needed, but willing and ready to kick ass almost all the time. -
I am Subi gives decent mileage and good all weather ability, Pathy gives fair mileage and go ANYWHERE ability

Today is a big day for our little family... My fiance and I are godparents... and we just finalized the deal on the 2001 Subaru Legacy GT She was able to pick it up today Rarw... Shiela (my Pathy) has a little sister, Ericka (the Legacy GT). They look mighty damn fine sitting next to each other... I gotta give them that. Subaru makes one sweet looking car, and Nissan made (and still makes) one bull-headed, rough-riding, trail-smashing helluva truck
-
It's official Can a Mod please close/lock/delete this thread as it's no longer needed?
-
How hard is it to replace lifters yourself? I'm half tempted to do mine... but a little afraid of ripping apart my engine.
-
I haven't read anything about that problem myself, can you cite any references?
-
*nods* My father had a Forrester for a while... was a lovely wannabe-SUV. I don't really fully trust AWD systems though... but from what I understand Subaru has the best of the best, so eh, I guess I don't have to worry that much.

Well, the problem is where she works atm sucks balls... 6 years as an office manager at Karns and she makes about .25 above minimum wage... we're hoping to get her out of there ASAP. That and she only owned the cavalier... maybe 3 years? She's had absolutely rotten luck with vehicles... which is why I'm guiding her on this purchase I, on the other hand, pull in roughly 2.5x that amount with my position at the state, and all my bills are paid for the next 6 months so I SHOULD (keyword here) be able to save up and drop a nice load of cash on that car to get our "debt" down. Her cavalier just isn't worth the work though *sighs* Nice car when it works... bitch when it doesn't. My grandfather (who used to be a mechanic and is a mechanical engineer) looked it over and thought it was good, so I'm going to see what our interest rate comes back as from their financing, then see if my bank can do better Consider, though, we are both still in college *shrugs*

my reply is in bold At this point, I'm looking at trading it in. The car has been nothing but trouble so yeah... I got a decent deal from a Subaru dealership today... 2001 Subary Legacy w/ only 41k miles. Bought from that shop back in 01, used by a little old lady for "Meals on Wheels", and then traded in for a newer model of the same car. It is IMACULATE! Beautiful car, All Wheel Drive, 2.5L Boxer engine w/ Cold Air Intake, ABS, Traction Control, Power windows/locks/seats/moonroof, and the test drive was grand. Currently at 11k with the trade in of the Cavalier (which includes the 2k she still owes on the Cavalier) Yeah... that's a steal. Going to try to work out a viable payment plan.
