  1. I'd keep the whole thing behind the shed if you can. The part you need is always without fail the one you didn't keep and can't get easily. I kept a spare parts car for my last WD and it kept my car going for 11 years. G/box, suspension, seats, glass, little knick-knacks... You name it. I wish I had it now.
  2. So I got up to our property a couple of weeks ago and removed the LP Gas tank and the auxiliary fuel tank that was fitted. In addition I got up under the dash and cleaned up all of the old 90s add-ons and the LPG wiring. Was a great feeling removing all the dodgy splices and re-taping the loom like OEM! Got rid of this car alarm too Pulled the sender out of the tanks, thinking I'd just use the OEM one out of the aux tank.... Now I should have expected this, as the PO told me the car had not been ran on petrol for over 10 years... Not sure if you can quite imagine the smell, but think of varnish mixed with stale red wine. Anyhow, OEM tank is fitted but waiting for a factory Z24 low pressure pump/pickup assy, which I now have as well as a good carb for it As soon as lockdown is done, I'll get over there and get if fired up on petrol, then I can see about getting it registered! That's it for now Stay safe out there guys! Pete
  3. Removed dodgy LPG conversion and belly tank, fitted factory fuel tank. Removed 80s car alarm, other wiring add-ons and returned wiring loom under dash and in engine bay to OEM. Most Satisfying!
  4. I think that's easily justified if they are parked nearby - security for them too given there is evidently theif activity in the area. I'd jump at it if it were my neighbour asking.
  5. That's great info. I wonder if you got a 2nd pair you could linish or machine them down to compensate for the gap.
  6. PS, that thing looks like it will be a weapon. Love it!
  7. Never seen one on the few Aussie cars I have pulled apart, I think as long as you have your hub seal (40232) in place you should be okay. You could run a bead of rtv between the knuckle/stub axle and dust shield if you are concerned. Anyone else seen this?
  8. Jesus, that's a bad day out wheeling! (or a great day with some collateral damage)
  9. It's interesting that over there you guys seem to always mount your CB/UHF antenna on the rear comer of the car. Do you have laws against putting it on the front or in the field of vision? Over here in Aus they get fitted almost exclusively to the front on a bracket on the bullbar. Maybe we're just too lazy over here to route the cable all that way under the carpet
  10. Man that is absolute filth! You can be a smoker without being a filthy pig! Good on you for taking it on though, braver man than me haha
  11. They have them listed on their website as a stand-alone item: https://www.4x4parts.com/i-18981105-pathfinder-upper-control-arms.html
  12. Not sure on the RC, but 4x4parts.com carries the superlifts. I was very happy with the last set I bought and will be getting some for my current build.
  13. Nice! Don't see too many on the road anymore. This one has 338,000 kms / 210000 miles, so she's done a bit of work!
  14. Finally found a fuel tank, will chase up a new fuel pump (tank came from a VG30 car, so assuming different pump [??]) and a half decent carb. Then I can get rid of the LPG conversion, which I am looking forward to. Also found that the engine has quite a bit of blowby, so will look at rebuilding the spare I have.
  15. The advantage in my case was that I wrecked an '89 pathfinder and put the engine into an '86. I cbf hooking up the spark control computer that the 89 had and integrating it into the 86. (Talking Australian Spec here).
  16. Thread revival here! But if anyone is thinking of changing from twin to single spark on a Z24, you will also need the oil pump drive from a single spark engine as the distributors are different lengths. I set mine up like that years ago, simply left the 2nd row of plugs in the LHS side of the head and ran leads to the RH side. It ran perfectly and it gave me no trouble for the 11 years I owned it. It did like to run on if the timing wasn't dead right, but I got that nailed pretty quick with a new electronic ignition.
  17. Make sure the bushings in the caster bars are not worn and that the hole/mounting point in the frame is not flogged out. Went through that before. Bushing needs positive location to be effective.
  18. Having had both, I would say that the Y61 is a far better vehicle, but you want Pre-2007 with the TD42 engine. The rest are either fuel guzzlers, or junk.
  19. Great thread and some awesome scenery. Good to see you using it for what its designers intended! Following.
  20. Went up to our property for a day and in between working on the house tinkered with the car for a couple of hours. Removed all of the 'old man' add-ons Also threw my 31s on, but they are coming back off until I sort out a lift. Also found the culprit for my overheating issue Threw in a new water pump and radiator at the same time, went for a run, cool as a cucumber! That's it for now! Pete
  21. G'day all, I was wondering if any knows if Gas and Diesel fuel tanks are interchangeable? I have an 86 Petrol WD21 which has been converted to run on LPG and I wish to put it back to Petrol. I have found a guy with a diesel terrano he is wrecking and was hoping to use the fuel tank and filler neck on mine. Obviously pump/ sender assy will be different. Any advice appreciated Peter
