$1100 to rebuild an automatic is insanely cheap. I rebuilt my own and had nearly that much in parts. One key to making one of these transmissions to live is adding an external cooler. I also added a thermostat so when cold the external cooler is bypassed. The transmission will not shift correctly when cold. you need to direct the fluid through the radiator to get some warmth first.

I wish I had seen that video before I rebuilt my transmission. The ant rattle clip had be baffled for weeks. When I pulled the clutch pack the clip was just sitting in the bottom of the case and I had no idea where it came from.

Tell me the difference between these two trucks. My tailgate is the same as the one on the left. I have a remote tag holder, will it fit on this gate?

Very nice work. Can't wait to see the finished product and the kit.

R50 engine replacement possibilities? diesel or v8

I looked on ebay at the latest 5.3 with gearbox and transfer case. Not bad on the pricing and the transfer case is on the correct side for the Pathfinder. I would do a total swap. My issue is living in Atlanta we have pollution tests we have to pass every year until the vehicle is 25 years old. Swaps can be tricky to get through. -

I like the idea of a LS engine and trans swap. -
Need to take me off the list. I am thinking of another truck right now.

I am also interested. No hurry but at that price I cannot pass up

Many years ago, when dinosaurs roamed the earth, we used to race Motocross at a park named Wildcat Creek. Is there a track still around there?

The rear hatch defroster is pretty well scraped off my window. It only works on two of the heater strips. Anyone replaced the defroster?
-
There is much more to the transmission than the intake. There are two harnesses that go to the transmission from the chassis. Change your engine but keep your trans, my opinion.

Well guys I must have gotten confused. I checked the paint marks on my springs last night, blue and green, they are 9446's. I know I was thinking, if I did this again I would go with the 9447. Sorry about that. We need to get Bax03SE to change the sticky post. If one of you guys use the 9447's please post how much lift was experienced since this isn't an exact science, the amount of lift may vary.
-
I used the NRC 9446 springs and got a 2.5" lift in the rear. I am using KYB rear shocks. My front spacers are 2" and I got 2" of lift. I have not noticed a sag yet.

Thanks guys, I was being slow/lazy. I looked today and the screws are right there. LED's are going back in.

My center/third brake lights are not working on my 99 Pathfinder. I quickly looked at removing this assembly but it wasn't obvious to me how to remove it. Can some one tell me how to get to the bulbs? Thanks, neil

I think you need a rebuild with new plates
-
This is probably false hope, but there is a solenoid in the valve body that could have failed. I thought this on mine and ended up rebuilding because the high clutch pack was burned out. Check the AT manual and see what solenoid actuates to engage reverse. BTW the reverse band is adjustable too.
-
If I did it again I would use the NRC9446 springs. They are 1/2" shorter.
-
I drove the truck today. I like the way it feels, a lot less squishy in the turns. I am a road racer so, body roll in a turn kinda freaks me out. This thing handles really flat in turns now.
-
I would not suggest lifting the front more than 2". The axle angle is pretty bad at 2" of lift. Perhaps a 2" sub frame drop in conjunction with lift to match the rear and help with the axle angle.

I am running 31's so the math works out
-
I am running 2" spacers up front. The Defender springs gave me a 1 inch rake. Some people like that and when I tow the race car I am sure I will like it too. Not a big deal, I wanted to chronicle the results for anyone else looking to do this mod. My truck sits about like Bax03SE's. I measured about 35" from the ground to the middle of the front flare. 36" ground to rear flare.
-
I finally got around to installing the Defender springs in my Pathfinder. To recap the springs I chose are 15" long and 175 lb/inch. I did not trim the springs and it lifted the truck 2.5". The truck is the same height as when I had stock springs and 2.5" spacers. I was hoping for 2". Perhaps over time they will sag to the height I wanted. Haven't driven it yet because I am doing other maintenance right now.

What size are your tires? My truck looks almost identical and I am running 31s. I am going to try the 175 lb/in springs to get a lift of 2 without cutting, I hope.
