A little off topic I know but how do you like the xterras? I've always heard they were the rebirth of the pathy. That's exactly what I was thinking of doing and getting a lifter and rocker arms assembly while I'm at it off a truck if nothing else for extra parts. Awesome suggestion, i didnt even think of that. I'll have to pick up the attachment

Was able to get home early from work today and perform a compression test. All spark plugs excluding bank 2 and 4 were in perfect condition as expected with brand new plugs with only a total of 20 hours drive time on them max. 2 and 4 had huge carbon build up. Compression testing also showed each bank, again excluding 2 and 4 had 150psi. Bank 2 had 110 and when adding oil into it, it jumped up to 130 so I'm guessing a ring. Bank 4 had 80 psi, adding oil for the fun of it jumps barely 90 psi. Thinking bent valve which I was dreading. Going to try to go to junkers next time I am free and pull parts for replacement valve. If that doesn't fix my issue and it goes back to piston or cylinder then engine swap it is I'm thinking

I could see what looked like smoke forming for the fill plug in the video if I'm not mistaken. Standard OP compression is 100-130 correct? Saturday I'll give an update on where each cylinder is at
-
Very true. Thank you for putting that into perspective for me.

Idle on my 92 is smooth, doesn't fluctuate like your xterra did in the video. Ticking yes though that's a given. I have not done anything to the truck yet, I work away from home so I won't be back to it till the weekend. Planning on doing a compression test before tearing anything apart

That is where you are losing me, if the lifters can't hold the oil pressure and collapsed then wouldn't that just need a new set of lifters and possibly (wear depending) rocker arms?

Any updates with this project?

What did you do to your Pathfinder today?

Agreed haha -
How so? I never had problems before I hydrolocked.
-
I agree with that. Better off getting a cleaner 2wd
-
I've never done it myself however it can be done. There are a LOT of people that slam down D21s down to the ground. If you don't get information here I would check into a low rider forum for the D21 hardbody. I ran across one awhile back but can't remember the name

An old sock and 40% deet bug spray cleans up foggy head lights. Won't be a factory shine but in my experience it comes 80% more clear
-
Yeah by the third or fourth test odds are you found it. I'm hoping it's just major misfire from lifters no longer functioning >.<
-
I'm thinking I'm going to hook up a compression tool up to the engine before I tear anything apart to put my mind a bit at ease with the cylinders. I'm pretty sure my dad has one I could use so at least I won't be out anything just about and hours worth of work and fighting the 6th plug again

That does make sense like hot water old frozen glass. Metal I could imagine cracking as well considering how hot our engines are. You replaced your engine? An emotional and financial Rollercoaster ride for sure haha currently praying I don't need a new engine. There is no way I could do that myself so I'd be forking over a lot of cash to have it done. Looks like I should start looking into vg30e crate motor prices. A guy on this forums offered one with 88k for 900$ but I've n I idea on price of crate engines or if I need one yet Let's hope I dont

What's wrong with the patrols? I've seen some videos of that truck and it is a beast off road -
My knowledge of head gaskets is they only blow due to an over heated engine
-
I'm not sure if I bent a rod but it doesn't seem like it. I had my mom take some money from me and have the fluids changed. She said ticking was improved but not gone for a.few miles then ticking came hard and she lost a lot of power. Barely made it up the hill in 2nd. Sounds like lifters collapsed. On a little research here I found our lifters are hydraulic? So it's not just a readjust job sounds more like a replace job. I'll find more out this weekend

Looking forward to that. Checked oil, mikly. fskc! Started her up before I had to leave for work and let her run. To see if she would quiet down. Knocking sounded like a lifter but doesn't make noise when idle so valve? Got oil cap off, don't let Mr Olympia screw your cap on once engine got more warm noise went away even at higher rpms. Maybe the last bit of water is getting out of the thing. Left it running with oil cap off to let any water vapors out there till I had to go to work for the week. Saturday oil change -
As long as I don't have the same compression issue after this that ABCAB had yeah. Fingers crossed on that one that I got off this easy

High revs but made it through so wasn't sitting in water when it seized. Started bogging down in the center of the crossing. Today I pulled the last plug and blew the rest of the water that would come out with the starter. Finished up with shop vac and replaces all 6 plugs and air filter after wiping everything down again. Checked oil and turned over. Revved till water vapor stopped coming out. Saturday I'll have fluids drained for further maintenence -
