  1. Good lookin' tires, fellow Q driver
  2. Hate to revive an old thread like this but I can't help but think that a ladder could be very useful and could be very easily fabbed to be move able and just hang it on the rack or rack channel to use it Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  3. That thing looks so ridiculously good that I almost want to give up working on mine because it'll never look that cool Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  4. Scavenged some cross bars from the junkyard, painted them, cleaned the main tracks, then installed
  5. That was my thinking. I'm headed to a junkyard for some parts tomorrow and with any luck I may come home with a swing arm too. I was going to build one to put into my receiver like you did CDN, but I'll probably do this instead. I want to put a hi lift and Jerry cans on it too so we'll see what happens Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  6. Now I really want to do this. I wonder if the swing arm would fit on a qx4 and if it would require any reinforcement Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

Ok. With regard to rear shocks, do you know if anyone has relocated them to higher up on the axle? They hang down super far. I can't imagine it would be that difficult (if you can weld) to put shock mounts from a jeep on there, or just weld the existing ones higher up?
  8. That's not a typo right? That's Four hundred and seven thousand four hundred and forty five miles? wow
  9. I'm at about 199k miles. (though I did just buy it a few months ago)

Right, I've done some fair research and know what's available. I'm not upset, I've participated in and run forums in the past. I'm actually using Fleurys' spacers right now but tucking 32" tires under the rig (QX4 flares are a bit different than the pathy) doesn't leave me beans for clearance or flex. I was either considering something similar to CDN_S4s 4/6 lift, or doing a 6" all around lift. My question was more in reference to the actual part numbers you guys used for your suspension after doing a lift. For example, some of the build guides recommend Rancho 5000 shocks for the rear, while others say that ~6 months later they are junk. I've seen a lot of bad press about OME too, not to mention they are pricey. So, in that light, what rear struts are y'all using? What has worked well for you? For putting the 2" lift springs http://www.summitracing.com/parts/tjm-770fr10a?seid=srese1&gclid=CjwKEAiA-s6zBRDWudDL2Iic4QQSJAA4Od3XgZqoZK1Ogbdp9tZd5K1yKDllQpKPS-dvWGyPjIN9QxoCrnDw_wcB onto the front, you probably wouldn't use the OE front shocks. What part# have you been running with, how long, and how's the performance been? That kind of thing is more what I was looking for I guess. Appreciate the tip on the search feature btw

har har I get it, I'm the newbie here asking questions that have been answered 100+ times. I apologize for being 'that guy' but I couldn't find the info I was looking for

4/6 might be the way to go. Did you use 5.5" WJ springs in the rear?

    You've got a 6" lift, correct?

Right, I didn't think you could run stock shocks because you will top them out. I don't know what kind of shocks people are using with the AC springs though. I'm considering a SFD+AC setup since I've got a QX4 and lose out on about an inch of clearance with the fender flares, but since they're built into the door paneling I want to keep them. I have 32" tires (32.1") and a 2" spacer lift right now which just isn't enough. I don't plan on upping the tire size any time soon because these tires are brand new. I understand with the SFD+AC I will need the SFD kit, 5.5" WJ springs, Rancho 5000 struts, AC Springs, and new shocks (not sure what kind to use).
  15. I've been prowling around for a bit trying to find info on what people are using for suspension replacement/upgrade SFD and SFD + AC. Some have said Rancho 5000 for the rear, some say don't do Rancho. I don't know if anyone is using OE struts with AC coils. For all of you who are running SFD and/or AC coils, what are you using for shocks and struts?
  16. I'm sure it's buried somewhere in this thread, but what tire carrier is that? It's a swing away with Jerry Can mounts on it and that's pretty unique. Did you custom fab that or did you buy it?
  17. Thanks, I like the name of the truck too. I'll have to snap a picture of the setup one of these days. It's kind of a pain to unpack everything and then repack it so I'll wait for a time when I'm pulling it out to reorganize. I'll try to snap a shot of how it all sits in the trunk though so you can get an idea of how it's all in there.
  18. Yes please. I'd be willing to pay a small finders fee on top of whatever the fender and flare cost to make it worth your time.
  19. I have yet to see that but I'll keep an eye out. Thanks for the heads up. So far I've got about 200 miles on the Warn hubs and I'm pretty sure I'm getting better mileage. We'll have to wait and see. The FMV (Fair market value) for my rig is $5500 (front bumper cover ding from prev owner) and the damage was quoted by the shop (most expensive shop in town) at $5000 in repairs. New Headlight [Discontinued] -$1400 (had a teeny tiny scratch on it from the incident that is too deep to buff out. I can't hardly find it even when I'm looking for it) Fender Flare [Discontinued] -$750 (obliterated) Fender [Discontinued] -$750 (deep scrape into metal on fender. hard to see in pics) Painting and blending - the rest Apparently nobody makes aftermarket tooled parts for these rigs so you either source them from a yard or you buy the new parts which are no longer being made and so they're insanely expensive. I'll take my sweet time and prowl the internet looking for replacement parts when I get around to it. Found somewhere in Washington that I can get a flare for $125. That's a start. Honestly, totaling out the rig was a Godsend. I got it for free. Better than free. Really, I have no sour feelings about it at all.
  20. Pretty sure I looked at that and it's still too long
  21. I bought a 42" light bar and it's the exact width of the rack rails on the roof. With the feet/mounts on the bar it will be almost exactly 2" too wide to mount into the rails. 40" should be perfect for the r50
  22. As long as you don't run in Automatic mode there should be no problem.
  23. I'm not planning on doing a ton of airing down honestly. I might bleed a little bit out if I have to crawl over a log or something but I'm building it as mostly an expedition style rig for light/med trail use. I'm not planning on turning it into a mudder or crawler. The 18" wheels means I have a slightly shorter sidewall and I can tell the difference in road handling. It has very little sway from the tires, and my movement feels responsive and precise. Not to mention it looks sweet. haha
  24. The running boards were completely useless to all but my 6 year old kid. For me they were just something I hit my leg on every time I got in and out. It's much cleaner and easier to get in an out sans running boards. The hit wasn't bad. Any day now my big "That'll buff right out" sticker should be here, I'll slap it on the fender and call it good. I don't even really care if I find another flare or not (though if anyone has one for sale, I wouldn't mind hearing about it) Taking the flares off the Q isn't exactly hard but my issue with it is that there are big holes along the wheel well for those plastic panel fasteners. If you pull all the flares off (and the door panel trim) you'll look like someone shot the truck full of holes. You'll either need to fill them or find something to cover them with.
