It does make one hell of a difference both the 88 and the 94 have it done
-
Pulled the headlight switch on the 94 and cleaned the contacts, Yea have dash lights and taillights again, replaced the door lock actuator on the passenger rear door. Replaced the door thingy that holds the door open on the 88 got tired of it closing on my leg. Yeah we've been to pickapart again
-
This may be a dumb question, but has anyone thought about lengthening the 4 rear legs to match the fronts, to give a little more height to the rack or would that stretch it out to far?
-
The older caddys have 3 horns got em on the MH
-
That I do on both the 88 and the 94, I have to park close to pecan trees and they drop some sap it's like a real fine mist luckily it does come of easily but every day the pumps get used at least once a day

Anytime I'm prowling the JYs that's 2 of the items I always check for
-
Replaced the front windshield pump on the 88, spent about a 1/2 a day cruising the local pickaparts and couldn't find a damm thing
-
Or it got knocked loose, seen that happen before
-
arcing brushes in a drill motor will do it also, found that out the hard way years ago porting a set of heads
-
Both my 88 and 94 have 2 pins so it would almost be easier if doing it yourself to remove the whole lock assembly. or take it to a locksmith
-
From what I can tell, someone correct me if I'm wrong. The 2 brass pins have to be removed/drilled out. the cover with the lock, acc, run. start, slides off then the tumbler assembly can slide out. Sorry for getting back on this so late but we were having fun in Vegas and Laughlin

I haven't really checked mileage until the trip started yesterday morning, filled the tank Friday and put about 25 miles on it local, and a little 4wheeling in the desert on the way , We topped the tank in Quartzite az, filled to the brim and it took 13.565 mileage was 246.6 almost the same mileage with the gps and streets and trips 18.1mpg. the wife and I weigh about 330 together and about another 300 to 350 in the back, A/C off Quartzite to Phoenix and about 45 miles in town driving A/C on 16.3 mpg. Will see how we do tomorrow going to Laughlin NV. Freeway speeds 70 to 75 Tire size 245/75R 16 5 speed Warn manual hubs K&N cone style air filter

We're on kind of a mini vacation, when we get back I'll pull the cover and takes some pics, we should be back by wednesday
-
Had a mini detail done on it yesterday and today we're playing in the desert geocaching
-
I think I have a pic in one of the other threads that shows a partially cut JGC spring
-
The way I did i twas with a moto dremal tool, I'd cut a slot in the head of the mounting screws then use a flat blade screwdriver to take the screws out. If you just want the lock itself you have to have the ign key, if I remember turn it to acc and there is a pinyou have to push in to unlatch the lock, then just pull out the key and tumblers. Your lucky they always check my toolbox, but I do wear cargo pants which have been known to have small parts fall in them. And That's my story and I'm sticking to it !!!

As you can see from the pics the plug for the evap comes off the loom that goes to the fan resistor, on my 87 when I installed the JY A/C the the plug for the pigtail came out of the main loom above the heater box. Neither the 88 or the 94 I have now needed the pigtail the plug for the evap, it was already in the loom going to the resistor block. If you can't see the plug maybe it was cut off by the other owner, I'd check the loom going to the resistor block and maybe even open it up to see if you can find the wires you need the basic colors should be blue and green
-
I thought I'd check the wiring on the 88 prod. date 05-88 anyway here's a pic of the wiring it's in the loom with the plug for the resistor block Here's another of the 94 prod date 2-94 I guess the pigtail I mentioned in the earlier post was for the86 1/2 hb and 87s I know when I installed the a/c in my 87 I had to go back to the JY and get the pigtail. Anyway hope the pics help
-
It should be taped up in the loom with blue tape if I remember correctly, Although some didn't have the short pigtail and it came in the install kit. You might have to go to JY and get the pigtail
-
My 87 and 88 are like that, the 94 just push the button down and close the door and it locks
-
It's been a long time, but if I remember correctly the locksmith had replacement covers. If your careful you can get them off without damaging them, just go slow and be careful

Is it worth having a vehicle repaired at a dealer repair shop?
vagabond replied to jwblue's topic in The Garage
Check with friends and neighbors or relations about a good mechanic that they can recommend word of mouth usually works pretty good, -
I just swapped the pins on the drivers door lock with 1 from a JY a few weeks ago when the part that the little arm attaches to broke off. Also when I was still working in the Dealerships we'd get the locks recoded on the theft recovery's, Ign or doorlocks it didn't make any difference to the locksmith he;d do any of them

As a retired Tech with about 35 years experience, 17 with Datsun/Nissan I'll have to agree with 5523Pathfinder whole heartedly. And this to a earlier post about the shop being the money maker in the Dealership Bull@!*%, if the Dealer didn't have to have the shop there wouldn't be a shop it's mandatory for the dealershipto have a repair facility.
