There are a couple quotes that cracked me up. Doesn't that mean "we had to pay them to show up?" Wow, the Sheep don't even have to do that. And this observation was helpful. He countered that there are many heavy pick-up trucks that have similar gas mileage." Thank you, Jim, for pointing out that the H2 is a bloated pig. Its nice of you to compare it to one of the "many heavy pick-up trucks" which seems to be the proper comparison until one opens their eyes and realizes that *gasp* the H2 isn't a heavy pick-up at all. Well, yes, its heavy. But a heavy truck? Heavy mall rated grocery getter on 24's is more like it. FUH2, from the bottom of my heart! Other than that, happy times at home Statikuz. Um, maybe you could change the fluid just in case to check. Contaminated brake fluid would be a bad thing.

I really liked the function of Alpine HU's, but I went through 2 different decks in a row where the lighting in the face plate died. The deck still worked, but you had to memorize what you were doing, especially at night. I was not amused, as you can imagine. Granted, this was several years ago (about 1997-98 or so) so this may no longer be an issue.

Nah, guys have complained about that ticking for a long time, but its not the manifold. The manifold ticking is a fairly high pitched tick tick tick tick sound that goes for a couple minutes until things heat up. $100-150 is cheap to replace the studs in my book, as I paid like $900 to do multiple broken studs in both sides. I was way over 100K miles anyways. Serious PITA, and I wasn't gonna deal with it. But word is you need to print off the results of some web searches, etc. to show that you know what you're talking about, then have a long conversation with the service dept. and in the end lean on them a bit to do the job. Sounds worth the effort though instead of having to pay. *Edit!: this would be in reference to a WD21, but from what I've heard is similar/same to the R50 experience.

I second the rebuttal. Or third... or 20th. Tried regular halogen bulbs on an empty dark stretch of road. Then tried the Silverstars. Can see vs. can see plus can see more and farther. Enough test for me, thank you.

Totally off track now, but I'd 2nd MM on the superiority of Eclipse products. I've got an Eclipse cd player that I put in right after I bought the truck, so say its almost 4 years old. I don't ever recall a single time that thing has skipped due to bumps, jumps, trail riding, anything. Its even far superior and regular scratched and messed up cd's, where only the nastiest mess skips. And when you pull that cd and put in in another player, you're lucky if it will play at all. Just plain reliable, easy to use, and 2 BIG thumbs up. Ok, I return the thread to its regularly scheduled posts...

I know this is far from your original goal, but is only intended as an idea. I started with a single dual voice coil Rockford Fosgate 12" (HX2) in a box just over half this size. It was a bit spendy (about $160 on sale a few years ago), but was made for tight spaces. Its now moved to our Acura's trunk, and in the swap I brought over 2 10" Sony Xplod's. I've got these powered by a 1000 watt Alpine V12 amp, but would totally recommend a single one with a mild amp for some good punch since the 2 blow the 12 away by a mile. By the way, there is also a 1 Farad Phoenix Gold cap next to the Alpine amp, and a RF Punch 160.2 amp on the other side of the box. Yeah, its pretty quiet... Anyways, sounds like overkill for your goals. But the point being, even with all that, I've still got access to 2/3 of the floor area, and almost all the space if I stack to the roof. But with mine, I've screwed it to the floor to discourage it growing feet and walking away. The box measures roughly 24"L X 14"D X 20" H, but the old box with a single 12 was just over half that (mostly shorter in height and length). Not too bad really. Could be much less with a good 10". Just food for thought.

If you already have an amp, you could buy a decent 10" or 12" specified for smaller enclosures (if that's what you're after) for say $100 (or less... or more, depends on what you want). Couple bucks in mdf, screws, maybe some carpet or however you choose to finish it, and you'll have the satisfaction of calling it yours. By the way, if you do go that route and have the grey interior (kind of a mid-grey in my 94 for comparison) Lowes stocks a close-enough marine grade carpet that blends decent with the stock stuff. If you're really set on a tube, I bet 88 could guide you cause you know he doesn't just settle for off-the-shelf crap.

Apparently we don't drive in the same roads. Try surrounding yourself in trees, take a long series of mountain twists and turns on a cloudy day, then straighten yourself out. Sun rises...? What is that? Welcome to a day in the NW. Oh, wait, a compass and a map. Now I'm feeling you man. Although I have yet to get totally lost, and I haven't ended up in Mexico. Canada could happen maybe. As for best MPG on your road trip, air up the tires, use the AC on the highway if needed rather than windows, keep a constant cruising speed (not too fast, like 70 or below roughly), use the eggshell thing even though you don't like it, don't push it, either in speed or hills, etc. etc. etc. But then, I drive a WD21 brick so even if I keep my foot down and play bad, I only lose a couple mpg at most. Good luck. Oh, and the ass over the head bit. Yeah, that would be a bad thing.

Really though, pull a bolt and measure. Anything close will work, hell, you could always throw on an extra washer or spacer if you were a bit too long. I wish I still had my box of discarded BL stuff... I'd figure it out, then I'd charge you $6.50 each... plus shipping of course.

Maybe the previous owner already bypassed the stock amps.

I'd go with a single good quality 10" sub and build your own box to hug up next to a wall or something. I've never been impressed with bass tubes, but maybe that's just me.

Not at all, that think couldn't be hurt if I tried. I was just curious about how well the Firestik would hold up as I almost bought one. But the K40 has worked out great.

Does anybody have a pick of how these things are used? If they're what I'm thinking of, they've been floating around the truck for years now. Who knows if I even still have them, but...

Heat shield, and yes, rip them off. Otherwise rust will eventually take them off for you.

Lived in Cali, now I visit and I don't know if I could move back. Although Seattle/Puget Sound area is rated the most over priced area in the US. Its not nearly as expensive as the Bay Area, but there also are not nearly the decent paying jobs to support it at all. But back to the point, Lambo doors on the Pathy? I'd have to tie on a piece of rope to pull the doors back down after the lift. I bet they'd love that at Home Depot. I'll stick to flipping off the guys in the H2's.

Try doing the torsion bars alone first, maybe with air shocks in back to help if the front becomes higher than the rear and/or re-index the torsion bars if they don't lift enough. Most Pathy's/Terrano's would be sagging in the front by this age and just need a boost. Also, its free to trim plastic and stuff if that's all they're rubbing on.

I've got the same mount and location, only with a K40 4' whip instead. Dude in the shop brought up a good point about bending and hitting on trees and possible breakage since he saw it going on a lifted truck. How well does yours flex, DJ?

That would work. The problem for me is, I already had the exhaust done so I'd have to rework it, but mainly I've got a pretty beefy class III reciever hitch mounted to the frame which would still look lame hanging alone. Oh well, keep the good stuff coming. For now, anything that would damage the exhaust would hit the reciever first.
