well she's back! dropped it off on tuesday at 7:30 am and got it back on wednesday at 4:00pm. looks like they did an OK job. I think they didi an alignment as well as it drives a little different now as well. the front end feels stiffer? Here are a few pics. driver side. passenger side. the only thing I'm not happy about is that they didn't do anything about the rust on the inside of the engine bay on the drivers side. looks like I'll have to tackle that myself. on the whole the I think everything went well. the dealership was prompt, professional and very courteous. Oh and one more thing, on the drive back to work after picking up the truck the ABS light came on while I was in bumper to bumper traffic. got back to work for a few more hours and on the drive home no ABS light I guess i'll have to look into that as well. thanks for all the concern and good wishes. now on to the rest of the plans I have for this rig.

you've got a hole somewhere, or a leaky seal at a joint or connection...I'd look around till I found it.

Its a good idea to install 2" longer rear shocks. -
there really is only one choice man....steve's spacers from 4x4designs.com and he's just down the highway from you.

x2 on everything above. spray on a penetrating lube and let it sit...I usually do this a couple of times a day or two before I even start a job.

yea, when I was a kid I lived in Kitchener and in Brantford for a little while. In fact while in Brantford I lived down the street from Wayne Gretzky's parents house.the party line was Northern New Brunswick in a mobile home.

party lines and dial up internet.....just how far back in the woods are you? I grew up with a wall mount phone and a party line but that was like 30 years ago.....

if you think thats fun, wait till you change the fluid in the front diff...I ended up using a bottle and hose method with the help of a friend.

If nothing else what is a forum for but to meet people who are into the same things you are. I agree with KDJ, plan your route so you can meet forum members. if nothing else you'll put a face to a name. hopefully you'll make a friend and pull this world a little closer together.( holy crap I sound like a hippy!) gotta say though, last fall on my cross 1/2 Canada trip I met up with Steve from 4x4Designs and now I can vouch for the quality of his work and testing it goes through. Top notch guy though and through. any member of this forum who wants to travel through my part of Canada is welcome to stop by. I might not be able to put you up for the night but I'll find a place you can crash and enjoy a pint or two with you.

Fleury's at 4x4 designs used to make some but I think he stopped production because of a lack of work shop.....I'd go to a Pick a Part and find a used one until Steve has his shop up and running again.

check these guys out their rock sliders are almost cheaper than the material to build them. and they look good. http://www.rocky-road.com/rock-sliders.html

Had a talk with one of the Custom muffler guys here in town (both 4x and street rod stuff). Since mine is swiss cheese and I have to replace everything from the cats back , I asked him about performance options. He said surprisingly that the VG33 stock exhaust system has pretty good flow, even with all the weird twists and bends, add a decent sounding muffler and things should be good.

So they are going to fix it! Level 2 repair on both sides. they have to order the parts but they should be calling in a few days to set up the appointment. They are going to do the fuel tank filler pipe as well. My experience with the dealer was great. everyone was nice. they drove me home (across town) then came to pick me up when the assessment was done. not a word about my aftermarket springs, strut spacer or wheel spacers. I'll post pics when the work is done.
-
So I just dropped it off at the dealership. they said they were going to do the fuel filler tube warranty service as well. fingers crossed.

You live in America now...you probably forgot your gun.

yea they were nice. but vague. the recall here in Canada has a different campaign ID# (R177) I'm gonna' try and find it an see the difference. the guy told me my truck has two outstanding claims, this one and the seat belt thing. (I can live with that one)

you can't wash for most of the winter unless you've got somewhere to let your car dry. otherwise the doors seals and locks freeze shut. lots of folk have tried but there always seems to be some "import duty/ safety issue" with US cars. They call it free trade. I call it protectionism for the used car industry here in canada.
