from one broke bicycle mechanic to another, from what I've been reading quite a lot of idle problems start with vacuum lines. that rough idle is often the engine not breathing proper or not getting regular fuel supply, so I would also check your exhaust manifolds for cracks. fuel pressure and filter. I'm not all that familiar with the vg30 engine so I'm guessing here as well. could be faulty knock sensor....just a few ideas to help you find a direction. in any case go through it one system at a time, just like when you're fixing a bike and it is calling you a Bit*$, take a brake walk away, come back and you usually find its a kinked cable, not a worn derailleur return spring like you feared.

how far north?? 7h north of Minneapolis.

there is still 3ft of snow on my front lawn and I woke up to -20C yesterday morning. I do most of my work on the front street so ya 30C would be fine with me...the way things are going though that might not happen till July.

don't feel bad about the putty. my muffler is held together with mechanics wire, beer cans, and muffler tape. just waiting for the weather to warm up before tackling this job.

I finally saw my first R50 with a swing out tire carrier..it was a black early model XE and very Holy. so they do exist!

thats why I said "supposedly" it was just something I saw on the interweb. thanks for clearing that up.

supposedly clogged cats can be cleaned with mild dish soap and water....?? haven't tried it but unless they are rusted out it might work at least worth a try as compared with buying new ones.

It might not hurt the engine, but it will hurt the wallet if the smog police catch you...

2014 pathfinder vs 2014 kia sorento

seeing as most 4x4 SUVs never even see gravel. the new Pathy is the most logical step. The thing is that those of us who do venture off road lament the fact that we have less and less choices available to us. -

don't feel too bad. I did something similar when I replaced the top hats on my struts...I forgot a stupid little spacer that was a part of the old top hat but secondary on the new ones. in a rush to get it all back together again I didn't notice and ruined one of my struts....It stripped the threads and bent the top hat after driving a couple of hundred Kms. I won't make that mistake again! I guess thats the pain of learning to do things ourselves. remember to double check and then question yourself if you remembered to torque everything right. that's the system I follow now. Oh! and when all else fails.....read the de-structions! -

I think he has some garage building to do first. so we most likely won't see them until the fall. -

yea! another "toban! I hope you ordered a NPORA sticker to go with those spacers. oh and maybe if enough of us bug him he'll start producing skid plates again. -
first thing I would do is a trip up into the mountains to shake the cob webs out of her! 68,0000 miles it should still have that "new car smell"

not a very difficult orv park test but it shows the lack of off roadability of todays SUVs.

If you squint at my signature pic you can hardly see it. I can just slip my hand between the hood and the bug shield.

replaced both outer CV boots in 3h. saved myself roughtly $300 in labour all for a $16.00 part. if I had let it go and the joints went bad add another $200 for aftermarket half shafts that don't work as good as OEM. Now I deserve a cold beer.
-
sorry for the delay...it's been mighty cold to go out and faf about with a camera... here ya go.
-
my bad...disregard the spacer mention since you already have strut spacers. reading comprehension goes out the window after a beer or 2. however a different spring might still smooth out the ride, though without longer travel struts a limiting strap is what you'll need to deal with top out.

I've got a bug shield on mine...but it came that way...I'll go out in the morning and have a look to see how it's mounted..hopefully I can take a clear picture.....not sure what brand it is but it has taken a beating with snow and ice and is still looking good. my window flares on the other hand are broken and held together with tarp tape...lol.
