No, and HIGHLY unlikely, so ill just say No. Because its awesome, and back in the mid 90's when these were built, it was still a popular thing to have. Now were all lazy, weak Americans who complain about having to use a clutch in traffic... For the record, even though after 145k my clutch is due for replacement and punishes me frequently for trying to shift fast or hard, i still love it!! NO regrets on getting a manual for daily driven car, plan to do the same for the next car...(**cough** R32 GT-R **cough**). -Kyle EDIT: Hey linkin, whatever happened to your short shifter kit???

Torque Pro not connecting to ECU

For $8, that's a cheap bullet. and seriously? What car made you modify the OBD access port to make it work? I have never heard of that, -Kyle -

Torque Pro not connecting to ECU
ferrariowner123 replied to Rocko's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
Hmm, well i can see as being different and possibly the issue is the scanner, I bought this one, and it has worked like a charm in all of the cars i have used them in. http://www.ebay.com/itm/ELM327-V1-5-OBDII-OBD2-CAN-BUS-Bluetooth-Auto-Car-Diagnostic-Interface-Scanner-/181088603078?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2a29b8cbc6 Sorry for the lack of anything helpful in this post, but that's all i got... -Kyle -
Dorman is the only company (that I am aware of) who makes a direct replacement for the exhaust manifolds. Both of my manifolds are cracked, but I have been leary about changing them for fear of break a bolt (145k worth of use), but don't want to pay the quoted $1000 for a decent shop to do, and yes, he was quoting book time, apparently the drivers side (i think) takes 7 hours to change! Not to sure how much I believe it, but it was from a trusted guy at a trusted shop. So if you tackle it, please report back, I'm wanting my 15-16 mpg back and I'm hoping these manifolds will help. -Kyle

Torque Pro not connecting to ECU
ferrariowner123 replied to Rocko's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
Yeah, I've successfully used torque pro many times on my 96 and know of people using it on a VQ equipped 01', so it should work. Is the ignition on when you try to run a scan? Have you set up a profile for the pathfinder in torque to give it some basic starting points? You lost me at the ISO protocol stuff, but I guess for one last question, what Bluetooth obd reader did you get your hands on? -Kyle -
How compatible are nissan's
ferrariowner123 replied to paul.thoroughgood.3's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
I'd like to bump this up with recent rediscovery. I had forgotten about the ELGRAND! I was talking with karmann a few weeks ago about something random, and the subject of different suspension came up. For whatever reason I had remembered seeing a post on nico that showed how a Japanese gentlemen successfully installed a set of bilsteins from an E50 Gen ELGRAND. So I started looking into it more throughly and I found airbag options, NISMO options, and some possible thicker sway bar options! (still checking on that). But long story short the E50 Gen ELGRAND with the VG33 engine uses pretty much the identical front suspension and subframe as the R50's. Rear axle I believe is the same, as are the rear sway bars (just turned upside down for body clearance, just a hunch on that though) but the springs are probably different as they perch on the LCA'S rather than the axle, again, most likely for lower clearance. But since those vans are loved in Japan, there are quite a few options for the ELGRAND that I'm fairly confident will work. I believe too that the E51 Gen has the same front struts as all of these rigs! I'll post up some diagrams and see what everyone's opinion on the ELGRAND compatibility. If anyone is actually interested. -Kyle -
Hey now, don't look at it that way. What did you pay for it? $1500? I bought my rig as my first car, and it will be 5 years and probably 50,000 miles when September rolls around. And only recently did I have an issue where it couldn't do what I asked it to do (starter died). These are great cars and are relatively easy to work on. I've got some similar clutch issues myself and I'm not looking forward to seeing the extend of the damage I've caused by putting off the changing out of my slipping clutch. I'm at 145k and I'm fairly convinced it's my clutch that's dying. So yeah, cars need money to run, especially old ones. Lol Not trying to be rude, just saying look on the brightside, lol And anyway, as for the Power (since the clutch issue seems to be figured out) have you done the usual things for a basic tune up on these engines? Clean MAF, new air filter, fresh 02's (at 145k, one or two are intermittently throwing codes on mine), fresh spark plugs (of the correct type, brand and gap), maybe some new wires are in order, and making sure the new dizzy is correctly timed (as previously mentioned). I'm sure there are a few other things you can do. Let us know what you decide on doing and what are the results! -Kyle

Find a fixed one. Pull passenger inner fender liner Gently use a pair of needle nose pilers to twist off the chrome trim ring, where the antenna goes into the car. Remove two (or three) screws that hold the antenna to the inner fender. Install new, fixed antenna in reverse order. It's a pretty straight forward swap. Only thing on wiring is not plugging in the motor harness. Just the single, thick black wire for the antenna. -Kyle

2000 Pathfinder P0138 part number help needed.
ferrariowner123 replied to elkootcho's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
The knock sensor should (not %100 sure) go away with the change. And that Bosch part number seems to be the part needed. Don't know why 4WD or RWD would be different, but play the auto parts store game I guess... Lol -Kyle -

ferrariowner123 replied to elkootcho's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
Correct, Bank1 sensor2 is the rear O2 sensor on the passenger(right) hand side. Rockauto.com has alot of options, from basic DIY where you have to cut your exsisting sensor harness, and then crimp connect the new one on. Up to plug and play. It's worth noting, that from what i have been told, these secondary O2's have NO impact on the rigs performance (i.e Power, gas mileage, should be unaffected). They are they there strictly to monitor the performance of the catalytic converters. -Kyle P.S. I almost forgot, hit up the advertisers section to get a 5% off coupon to Rockauto.com -
Need help for finding part,, time sensitive...
ferrariowner123 replied to captandy's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
ah man, i was JUST at the junkyard pulling of a 2000. I dont know how much help this would be, but ROW52.com has a part puller program, where you can effectively hire a puller to go to a local U-Pick junkyard. Just tell him what you need, he'll give you a price then ship it out to you. Hope that helps. -Kyle -
What is the point of this thread? To show off new parts? Go to members rides!!! Or to show us that you are SO lazy you can't be bothered to make a post of this site? You make one and you're all out of energy?

drivers side leather seat bottom
ferrariowner123 replied to Jacksonbase's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
Just picked up a MINT passenger heated seat! So excited to try it out. I pulled the seat at the yard to see how hard it would be to switch it. Wasn't hard at all. So this should be a nice simple switch. Thanks again for the tip, if this works my heated but will be so appreciative! -Kyle -
These should be the most comfortable, it's in the name! -Kyle

Well, unfortunately for us, the 3.3 timing marks. Don't really line up accurately, your best way of insuring proper timing, is by teeth count. So download the factory service manual, go to the section on timing belt change, and see how many teeth go between the two cams, and I think it's how many teeth between the RH cam and crank gear. Hope that helps. -Kyle -

I know for the early models. If you are having maf issues it will behave like that. Check to make sure it plugged in, has a solid, corrosion free connection, and it's clean on it's elements. -Kyle -
Crankshaft pulley removal issue
ferrariowner123 replied to zendriver's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
Head down to the auto parts store, rent a harmonic balancer puller. It's purpose built for this exact job and pulls from the inside of the balancer instead of the outside. -Kyle- 1 reply

drivers side leather seat bottom
ferrariowner123 replied to Jacksonbase's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
Good tip, does the heating element transfer too? The bottom part of my heated seat doesn't work. So I've been looking for a decent shape grey leather seat but on the driver side. So if the passenger side will work, that should save me a good chunk of time and money. -Kyle -

Heater blower motor not working

Does the automatic HVAC have the resistor as well? I'm getting a faint burning smell in my car, can't tell if it's clutch or resistor. Lol
