  1. I never have re-used them ....
  2. i've used aftermarket gaskets with my engine rebuild and swap, and haven't had a single problem with them yet ... a lot of those low mileage jap engine places sell complete kits for swapping all the stuff over to a long block, so you may need to get a few additional gaskets, but that would be a resonable way to go... I think FelPro offers a kit as well ...
  3. i'd say get some sliders, just because you never know, even when doing some "light" offroading ... the piece of mind is always nice, and they dont look half bad either ...
  4. size matters ... lol really though ... a 3 inch with 31's wont look bad at all I had some 29's on my rig with the 4" TM lift before I added the body lift, and it didn't look bad at all ...
  5. or you could just get new rotors ... for the piece of mind and the fact that they aren't all that expensive ...
  6. no problem at all , but why only a 2" versus the 3" ? is it because you dont want to go any bigger than that on the tires? just curious ...
  7. I have 12.5 wide tires on 8 inch rims ... so that will not be a problem ... the only thing is that wider track tires with smaller rims, have a tendancy to wear out the middle of the tire quicker than with say a 10 wide rim ... this can be countered by lowering the pressure in the tire, but they wont handle as well on road ... the benefit is when you are off road, there is less of a chance that you will roll the tire off the bead ...
  8. as much as I hate to say it ... I have to get rid of her ... see the 'Vehicles for Sale' section for more details ...

    Wheel Bearings

that's what I thought ... as long as the races aren't worn, you shouldn't have to do anything with them except repack and replace the bearings ... set the pre-load and off you go ...
  10. it sounds more like a problem with driveshaft joints both front and rear, as well as transmission mounts ... the combonation of these could cause more than usual play in all the components, thus a noticeable vibration ...
  11. it isn't uncommon in most vehicles after a while ... it most likely just needs to be replaced ...
  12. I used some self tapping deck screws that they use on flatbed trailers ... kind of the same thing ... only they are steel ...
  13. most of the time it's cheaper than A/C anyways ... so you are better off ...
  14. it is common ... its also common for people to call it a problem ... but it's just the way it is with these older style motors ... i've heard the newer 3.3's do it too ... not a big deal ... just so long as the noise goes away within a couple of seconds ...

    Brakes?

yeah it isn't too bad ... it wouldn't be a bad idea to obtain the correct wheel socket as well ...
  16. some states will sometimes pardon your emmissions testing if you show that you spent a certain amount on it in an attempt to show you tried to fix it ... would be worth a look anyways ...
  17. you dont adjust it ... you just make sure that the connection are actually contacting each other ... the slightest in connection fault, and you will experience problems ...
  18. yes you can ... no problem at all ...
  19. two more thoughts here ... . just becuase you are getting fuel doesn't mean that it is enough ... check your pressure regulator and filter ... secondly ... you may not be getting fuel to the injectors ... use some injector cleaner to clean the fuel rails ...
  20. check the fusible links for the fuel pump ... its fuses .. and finally ... check to see that the fuel pump is actually running... it may be a good time to replace the fuel filter as well, as it might be all clogged up ...
  21. are you saying that the engine rotates, but will not fire? or are you saying that it will not turn over period? check the fusible links to be sure they aren't fried, also check and see if there is actually any spark at the wires ... go from there ...
  22. it is possible the the torsions are worn out and need replacing ... mine are that way ... and I want to replace them ... but I am thinking about just holding off on that until I decide if I want to do a solid axel swap with some new gearing ... i'd hate to spend the money on things that I wont need in the future ... additional cranking will help with that problem but your ride quality will suffer ...
  23. ummm ... that is a supercharger ... just in case you didn't know ...
