I had the same problem with my alternator it would do that but would charge enough so the battery wouldnt die but once i put a system in mine the light would come on alot and the battery would die. SO i just had to change my belts and it worked great ever sense!

how many miles are on the car and when was the timbing belt changed?

i have the whole thing in my part out plus i do have a extra lid

this is probably not the problem but when i hard a ticking noise i thought it was just low on oil so i checked and it was so i filled it up and it was still doing it so i was like wtf and about a week later the timing belt broke.....and now im parting it out haha. O well out with the old and in with my new baby i mhopefully getting in 2 days!

idk if i mright but my rear ones make a clunk noise and one needed a bushing/rubber thing that goes in the end of the strut and the other ones needed to be replaced so i just bought 2 new ones and the problem was solved.

well if yours is like my 93 se.....then you open up the back hatch and on the left side on the floor there is a small compartment with two little twitst screws. It is located under that cap. I would show you a picture but i cant find one. You will see what i mean when you open your rear hatch if yours is like mine you will see the little plastic cap on the drivers side on the floor behind the wheel well.

well im pretty sure im just going to junk this car. My buddy is going to buy the tranny then i might just part the rest of it out. has bad frame and bad motor so probably wont get @!*% for it at the junk yard. If i decide to part it out anyone interested in buying parts?

ok well im not going to be able to do that until i get it to my buddys shop its snowing to much to do it outside. When i get more info ill update this so i can let you guys know what actually happened. Thanks for the advise so far.

sorry im not very mechanically inclined as you can tell. All ik is that when i try to start it all the belts move but it feel like its just spinning the engine. if that makes sense. it almost sounds like the starter is just freely spinning and not attached to anything but it is and turns the motor enough to turn the belts. DOes that help? I havent looked it much since last night it was like close to 11 by the time i got it home and was tired.

ok well i guess ill see what exactly is all wrong with it when i get it to the shop and go from there. Ill check and see how close that is from me im in MN. Im just tring to fix it for as cheap as possible because idk if the frame is going to make it another 2 winters its getting bad im going to try to weld angle iron to the side to beef it up but its pretty bad. I bought the pathy for 500 bucks a few years ago with a bad manifold leak and broken radious arm and i have put alot of time into making it look good and fixing most of the rust(besides the frame im not good at welding). SO i would like to keep it but if its going to uned up costing a lot tofix it i might just junk it and try to find a new one with out frame rott edit: probably not going to get that one for 600$ its 1,200 mi which is about 20hours away lol

ok well its snowing here and i dont have room in the garage so im going to trailor it to by buddys shop and see what we can come up with. If it looks like bent valves and bad belt ill probably just buy this motor thats sitting on a shelf at the junk yard about 20 mins from my house for 250$. What do u think is that worth it? Or how much does it cost to do the rebuild yourself?

ok well i was only going about 25 mph at 1500rpms so it wasnt like i was on the highway crusing. but is there anyway to check for the broken internals besides tearing it apart and if it exspensive to fix that? Or am i better off just looking for a new motor. Only big debate is my rear passenger side frame is rusting out so idk if its worth putting 700 bucks into it.

So I was just driving around not beating on my pathy at all then all of the sudden i hear a constant click for about 10 feet an then the engine shut off and i coasted to a stop. Now when i try to turn it on it just spins freely and a few of my car buddies think my timing belt broke. It has 200k miles and i have only owned it the last 30k so idk if the belt was ever changed. When the belt goes on these things does it normally do alot of damage to the internals or not really? like i said the starter spins it freely and it didn't sound like anything was bent but its hard to tell. Anyone got a new motor they want to sell for cheap that they know runs good or is its cheaper to just have a buddy rebuild it for 35 an hour.

i got them it made a big difference my old lights were yellow and these are more of whitish blue color and were alot bright! defiantly worth it

Im going to agree with this statement! you have the exact same problem my 86 nissan 300zx had. I ended up bridged the lights off of the otherside that worked. Has worked great since and have not had any problems with wires getting to warm and melting so it should be save to say its a good fix unless you have really high powered headlights. I have the best silverstars i can get here but they arent anything special.

well i just ordered it i hope it works even though my alarm doesnt seem to if not i guess i got some messing around to do under my driver seat. Anyone know if this will affect it?

ok i guess i will just get the factory one then cu ik it will work. My only fever is if my remote receiver even works because the security light just flashes really really fast all the time no matter what even if i have it switched to off.

Hey i looked around fora while but didnt see much on this. Do you guys recommend only using the factory remote for keyless entry? I have tried lubing them up and it worked for like a day or 2 then they get really hard to turn so im just geting the remote. me nd a budy spray painted his 240sx that he did a sr20 swap in with 14 cans of 1$ paint from walmart and it looks flawless lol you cant even tell its spray painted. I love engine swaps it fin! icant wait to put my rb25det in my z31 300zx! sorry off topic. if your not going to off road use spray paint if you are going then use something a little more rugged!

i didnt feel like reading everyones post cuz its late but i had a problem very simular and i had to wiggle a wire around by my air filter. its a little plug that sticks up and looks like the hood is close to hitting it. I too kit off and cleaned it up and then reconnected it and ran great ever since
