  1. I had the same problem on my 01, except then it did the whole err2 message...so I bought a remanufactured one, and it did it too within 6 months...tells me they are crap. I got my Kenwood installed now, so I would recommend just putting an aftermarket deck in there, just make sure if you don't want to rewire everything you get the wiring kit that is for the Bose system, if you have that option. I personally had to rewire mine to get the volume I was looking for, but most would have been satisfied with the stock amps running those speakers, my fronts are aftermarket, so it wasn't quite utilizing their potential. Now that I have rewired everything, it sounds awesome, be even better if I added an amp. I would try the CD lens cleaner first, but more than likely, you are going to have to replace. Seems to be a common problem with the factory HU.
  2. OK, so today, on my way home from a company meeting on my day off...UGH...My SSU started doing it again. I just so happened to be passing an auto parts store, and figured I would check the codes real quick while it was doing it...and there it was, cylinder 5 misfire...wasn't there before, now it is. I ordered a coil now to replace that, and hopefully that takes care of it all. I guess the guy at NAPA didn't know how to use the scanner because I showed 4 stored codes on this one, where he swore there was only 1...which I thought I saw 1/2 in the top right corner, but when I did the MIL check at home, I only got the one. So when I get it replaced, I will let you know if this fixes it finally...Man I am so happy I got the second code!
  3. Ok, so I went through all the diagnostics for code 1320 for the right bank, and came up with zilch! I tested o2 sensors, nothing there...ok, so what else could be causing this code? I didn't test the left bank because it the manny cat on the right side that is glowing. I don't see how it could be the MAF, or any other sensor before the right bank, for the simple fact that it is the right cat glowing. I still find it hard to believe it is the cat causing this, as it is a misfire, not a loss in power...though that does happen when it acts up, but not all the time like a plugged cat would do, and lately, only when it is above 40 degrees outside does it act up. I know we have some Nissan employees on here, feel free to chime in. Is it possible that the cat is slightly plugged just enough that it could cause this? I know they say replace all 6 coils just to make sure they aren't the culprit, but I don't have that kind of money. I love my SSU...get it, Superior Sport Utility...and all, but I have bills to pay first. I am just stumped, and these dang repair manuals on CD just aren't the same as the old Chilton/Haynes manuals, God I miss those, these are so much different, never had to use one so I am still figuring it out, plus my DVD burner on my laptop is on the fritz, so rather hard to just look it up whenever. I guess I am just looking to see if anyone else had these similar circumstances, with only one code, a cat that glows red when it misfires, and only does it on warmer days. I am still leaning toward a faulty coil, but every time I test them, nothing is wrong. I get 1.4 to 1.6 ohms across the board...can't remember if it is killa or if it is mega, but that is what shows on the screen. Any advice is most graciously appreciated and I hope I can get this dang thing figured out!
  4. Where do you get those? And I read somewhere that if the o2 sensor is causing a rich condition, it can cause the cat to be over worked so to speak and it would glow red. And if it was clogged, which I have 4 of them on the truck, two per bank,, I would have the problem all the time, not just intermittently, and it was only the manifold cat glowing.. For example, it happens most times after I drive it for about 10 miles or so, shut it off, then when I turn it back on, that is usually when it does it. But sometimes if I let it cool a bit, it goes away, and other times I can romp on it, and it will go away...which makes me think a clogged o2 sensor or a short, maybe even an injector going bad. It is confusing me, since it isn't a constant thing, I am not leaning toward a plugged cat, cuz once a cat is plugged, it is plugged, no miraculous clearing should happen...I said should for a reason, stranger things have happened.. Thanks guys for all the advice so far, keep it coming.
  5. Ok, so I tested coils, cleaned the MAF, did a tune up, and replaced the fuel filter. It is still doing it, and I noticed last night that the right bank manifold cat is glowing red when it does its thing. Could this be o2 sensor related? Or do I just replace the cat...maybe I should go old school and punch a hole in it...LMAO...I just need to read up on how to test the o2 sensors now!
  6. Ok, so like the title says, I seem to be having an intermittent misfire on my 01 QX4, 150k miles, spark plugs have roughly 50k on them, and I don't think the coils have ever been replaced. Now that I have that out of the way, I guess my question is, do the O2 sensors like to go out on these things? Are the coils faulty? Are the aftermarket coils reliable? Could it be something even simpler? I have my fuel filter coming, since I haven't replaced that since I bought it, figured it was probably time. I haven't pulled the codes yet, planning on doing that Saturday at Autozone to see what they are. I know it is hard to rule out/pin point anything without the code, I was just wondering if anyone had any advice on what they have found. I see some have had faulty coils, so I looked those up, and Judas Priest they are expensive. Do you really have to replace all of them at once? I read somewhere (can't remember where now) that it is recommended to replace all at once. I am on a tight budget, and cannot afford an $800 bill right now. Like i said, I am going to be replacing the fuel filter just for safety sake, but I know that wouldn't cause an intermittent misfire. Already checked for possible vacuum leaks, shorts, and things of that nature, but wanted to see if anyone had any quick advice for me. Thanks guys, you have always given me plenty of good advice, and I searched but didn't really get a solid idea of what I should do.
  7. I am running Mobil 1 extended performance...Always used clean 5000, but this new stuff says 15k! I got three filters and I will let you know what the oil tests when I am done in about 9k! Yes I plan on getting it tested!
  8. Thanks Tek...now I am contemplating an ome light duty lift...maybe medium! Time will tell!
  9. Nice job, looks good! I personally wouldn't lose tha wind deflector, wish my year had that! You may have just inspired me to fab one up...and maybe some other things!
  10. I gotta say man, you are sure making us fellow Coloradans proud!
  11. Ok, so I have now read this entire thread, and still haven't quite got the answers I am looking for. To start, I have an 01 Qx4, bone stock, with the 17" rims running 245/70/17 I believe. I formerly ran a 94 pathy, and had hopes and aspirations to lift it, but never did. I wanted to go 3" with that, however, I love my Q the way it is, but would like just a little more ground clearance to maybe run some 255 or 265 17's. I would like to do not much more than a 1" lift and was curious about the light duty OME springs, as what I have read the mediums will give a little less than 1.5", so would the lights give a little less? I know I could go with the 1" spacer up front, but I can't find anything to lift the rear an inch or so. Any suggestions on this? I am already planning on doing the Warn hubs, and see if maybe I can cut out a hole for them to fit through that cap, but I want something to maybe give me a little more clearance, you know? I don't want to throw huge tires on right away, and I don't want to make this thing a "truck" so to speak, as I love the way it rides now. I have heard nothing but good about OME, but at the same token, haven't heard anything about the light duty springs either. I am not planning adding any bumpers or anything of that nature, and if I ever do, it will mean I have the money to replace springs if needed. I just want to give a slightly higher stance, as I notice the Infiniti's seem to sit slightly lower than the Nissan's, and this could be purely cosmetic as they have a different body kit, but I would like to bring it up a bit. Let me know of any suggestions, as I am going to stop rambling here for a bit and see what else I can find. Thanks in advance for any and all info!
  12. Just to be safe, I just get the hubs that fit the 99 pathy right? Same stuff if I am not mistaken. I just don't want to order the wrong part and have a problem. Thinking of Mile Marker's because they are cheaper and I don't plan on trailing this anytime soon.
  13. I know there are much better rigs out there...or more deserving...but hey, why not, since she is not going to be mine much longer... Formerly_94Pathyman
  14. Look around on here, lots of info! I got a 94 for sale if your interested. Check my other posts for info. Welcome BTW!
  15. Well, I had a dream to make a rig and all, but I decided to go with my qx4 instead of an LE. One reason, it just looks sexier to me. I like the body kit, and the front grill looks better to me, but I still love the rugged looks of the pathy's, and will probably get another one later on! I just got a good deal on this qx4, better than I saw pathfinders goin for, and I couldn't pass it up. I was almost shaking how nervous I was when I checked this thing over and couldn't find anything wrong with it. He let me take it to a shop I knew, which was 70 miles away, and back, after going through everything on this car with my buddy. We CARFAX'd it, and nothing wrong. I was about to say what the hell, till we found one thing where the rear quarter was barely damaged and repainted....OOOOHHHH....but yea, that is why I got mine. I still look at all your lifted rigs, and love the rugged look of the pathy's. That being said, I have yet to find anything in the drivetrain that is different. Purely cosmetic, you can actually get the LE's with all the same options, so it is all your preference. Wow that was long!
  16. Not to jack your thread, but if you need some JGC springs or anything, let me know. Since I saw you were thinking of lifting, I didn't know what route you were going to take, so figured I would offer! I have a set with a spacer installed in the spring, giving roughly 4" of rear lift. But back on topic, you should always do PM's and anything that is starting to fail before doing any modification or upgrade. If it isn't capable of handling the stock setup(minus the big tires), then I doubt it can handle a lifted situation, as it stresses all of those parts that you listed more than stock. So like MY1PATH said, "BJ's...are always a good idea", and I wasn't trying to be dirty there, just paraphrasing...LOL! <EDIT> Those are the springs for the rear, just in case you were wondering
  17. So it may be safe to say, that using the light coil would produce a lower lift maybe? Anyone ever use the light load springs? Now I am curious as to what those produce if the heavy's gave you approx. 2" or am I ?
  18. These auto hubs actually affect mileage that much huh? I never thought it would, but then I got one downfall, I can't use the auto 4wd anymore! Either way, I would probably just use on or off anyway...LOL! <edit> And I searched the forum a little, but still hadn't found anything about kits, that is why I asked guys...just in case you were going to call me a newb and tell me to search...
  19. Ok, so as I have found out, it isn't quite as easy to find performance parts for my R50, 01 QX4 to be exact. I was searching on the internet and wondered if anyone had ever heard of these and whether or not they actually work. Here is the link http://www.gfchips.com/infinitiqx4.aspx , let me know if you think it would be worth trying or not, cuz worse case scenario, I am only out 70 bucks. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I also wanted to know if anyone makes a cat-back exhaust kit for these, or am I going to have to fab one up myself. Either way is ok, but if I can find one that I like that is already made and I don't have to do all that work myself, cool. Also, what is everyone's take on either the K&N intake setup, or the Weapon R one? I like the venturi style design of the Weapon R, but K&N just speaks for itself. Thanks again guys...it is so good to be back!
  20. Well then my guess is on that for the oil issue. Since it is a manual, I would check to see if your ECM under the passenger seat has that adjustment screw on it and try that. I always tried to put my manual cars around 800-850 just because I live in Colorado, and cold weather affects idle, and who wants to have to adjust their idle in the freggin cold! But yea, try checking the output on the alternator, just for S&G's, it never hurts to have peace of mind!
  21. To check for vacuum leaks, I always just took some carb cleaner and strategically sprayed it at the vacuum lines to find the leaking one. It could even be that it is a change in the voltage from the alternator and that is causing the lowering RPMs. Couple questions, is it auto? Do you have that little ECU under the passenger seat that has an idle adjustment on it? My 94 did, and that was the only way I could adjust my idle! I had the same problem, and once I bumped that up to be about 900 in park, and roughly 700 in drive, it stopped for the most part. Now that it has been a while since a tune-up, it slightly came back. But I would do what Precise said, do all the diagnostics, check for vacuum leaks, check for EGR clogs and proper function (which typically if it moves by hand it is functioning, but you can test it with a vacuum guage and see if that makes the diaphram move. If that doesn't do it, testing the output on the alternator couldn't hurt, as it might have gotten weak and a little extra draw may cause it to bog down...rare, but I have seen it. Let us know what you come up with! <EDIT> You may also need a new oil pressure sending unit, or it could be a bad connection between the wiring and the light...worst case scenario, you could have a plugged oil pickup tube, or even worse, a failing oil pump, but those usually just go out, not get weak.
  22. I saw that OME offers a .5" lift coil, so if you didn't want to lift it too much, that could be an option. Check out http://ruggedrocksoffroad.com/nissan-pathfinder-wd21-r50-suspension-lift-kits-c-38_593.html?osCsid=4l444h6tusgd84ncbbepbjl7r7 I liked that idea since I am thinking of just adding in the NX spacer, those coils, and then something light in the rear, like a 1" with a spacer or something easy like that. I don't want to really wheel mine either, just give it a better stance...just in case!
  23. that looks pretty nice 1987caddy! I like that
