Jeez .. are you prepared for the worst? Would you consider another Pathfinder if they say "Nix it"?
-
Eeeesh! I like the "take it home and scrap it" suggestion if they deem it unrepairable. At least you have a plan and documentation going in. Good luck!

Make sure that the springs are seated in the perches and that the rubber spring isolators are in place? -
I'm with the other guys here about buffing out the heavy stuff. Besides, I can't tell from your photos if you have the regular white paint or the "Polar Ice" white that mine has. I'm sure that if yours is like mine it would be in the thousands of dollars to respray because of the dual clear coats (two different metal flakes). I was a little shocked the first time I pressure washed La Blanca and discovered very minor body damage and "South Carolina pin stripes" all over her. I shrugged it off then and it still doesn't bother me. I have street cred when I park next to showroom quality mall crawlers.

I have enjoyed reading this thread. It is so cool that you will have a diesel Terrano in the land of gasoline powered Pathfinders. Good luck on your trip. Sounds like you have a great family.

If you could smelll the burning, I'd start by using a flashlight and closely inspecting the wire harnesses under the dash.

IIRC the power steering rack is different. I have a preface lift Infinity QX4 rack on my 99.5 LE that works like new.

Good mods to make to my 99 SE on a budget

I truely must remember to point these questions in your direction Fleurys. I'm still thinking "old school" when it comes to the R50. -

I have the AC 2" springs, KYB struts and Rancho RS5000 shocks. I had a friend help me install everything myself and saved some coin there. I also installed the Warn Premium hubs to save my CV boots and slightly increase the fuel mileage. I don't wheel my Pathy anymore but, I did have success in some mild rockcrawling and a ton of trail riding. Hopefully this helps you a little. Here is a link to my build .. http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/topic/30077-devonianwalks-995-r50-stock-to-lift-pics/ -
Now I have a direction to go with my CJ-5.

Funny you mention that. I just went over there (didn't know about the FB page until this thread) and was amazed at the ignorance being posted. That page really should be moderated or deleted. Talk about giving "us" a black eye.

I have been a member of a couple of forums that have "given in" to Facebook. Like Boot just stated, this forum is very organized and is user friendly thanks to the moderating team. Plus, I don't care to know any one's workout schedule or pics of their cars thermometer when it is hot out side.

Rocks, rocks, trails, rocks and a little mud. No more of this heavy crap vvvvvvv

^^^ This. You might have kinked a hard line.

That has to be the coolest video I've seen of a running VG33E engine. Kudos' for the vid with the upper timing cover removed.

I've had the a/c drain plug up before. It is located under the dash on the passenger side. -
Glad it was a simple fix.

Location and replacement of warning chime
devonianwalk replied to path90bill's topic in General Forums
Funny you posted this here. I just recently unplugged the chime from my 20yr old Miata. I had to strain my back to locate that sick, whirrly sound. I pulled the wire harness from the Mazda. The car still starts and runs so, I'd guess I'm all good as long as she runs? -
HA! That was my first step. Hey, I don't know where in 'Bama you are from but, I'm heading to Talladega with a group of friends for a mud bog (not bringing any trucks) this Saturday and would gladly bring you my filler cap for free! At least I know that it's good?

Ain't it great living in the "Dirty South"? My CEL has been on for over two years now. Mine is throwing the O2 and the emissions charcoal canister code. I wish I could give you some useful input on the dimensions of my aftermarket muffler but, I picked mine off of a '96 R50 at our local scrap yard for $40 (pipe and all)! It sounds pretty nice when I throttle it without the dreaded "drone" at cruising speeds.

This. Also, multiple dash "dummy" lights are usually an indication of a failing alernator.

Nice write up. I enjoyed the read!

Dang. I don't know which of your R50's I like better? You, sir, have good taste! -
Don't frack with it! She looks beautiful as she sits!!
