  1. Those Caddy fender skirts are a pain to take off when you have to change a tire though...oh never mind.
  2. Or put an aluminum ladder on the rack. They howl good enough to "quiet" other noises.
  3. Ha! Do you remember how they forgot to put an ashtray in them so they came with one of those little bean bag ones? My first car came with 5 ashtrays and no airbags or cup holders. Just the opposite now.
  4. Delorean? Now that that's me back to the good old days.
  5. Hello and wecome. If you go back to "New people start here" then go to "Start new topic" (rather than pinned topic) it will put you in a forum where more people will find you. Lots of info on this site and lots of people with facts, opinions and humour.
  6. This morning I said screw the snow brush and cleaned the snow drift off the hood, windshield and roof with the snow shovel.
  7. Welcome, glad you're taking care of the neccesary stuff first. Then the fun stuff.
  8. Glad it wasn't 5 pounds of mud on the wife! I just got a '96 Hardbody for around the farm and will probably take the doors off for the summer. I won't be in mud and it'll be better for quicker in's and out's plus easier vision of where the tires are.
  9. The only time mine didn't start turned out to be a fuse for the fuel pump. It hadn't blown but one tab had rotted off and just tapping it would make the pump cut out. I'm not saying that's your problem but that with electrical stuff one small thing can shut you down. Checking through all your conections may turn up something. Good luck.
  10. Does it run normaly when it does start? Sounds like you've taken care of the normal fuel stuff. So maybe something with the wiring or distributor?
  11. Let me be the first to wecome you. There is a section here for the '96-2004 R50's. Lots of info all over the place. Enjoy and don't be surpised if someone asks you to post some pictures!
  12. I guess that's my fault. I'll try not to make anymore posts.
  13. Hey would it just take one of those flat sheet metal clips on the inside? Precise- I don't know what they're called but C shaped to fit in a slot around the cable housing(top view). Kind of wave in it to hold tension(side view) ? I think thats what the old Dodge/Plymouths used.
  14. I've got a 135 Massey that without loaded rears it's not going anywhere on snow. The frontend loader can be tricky as well without the rear weight.
  15. I would try cleaning both your battery posts and both the cable ends with wire brush, sand paper, file or use a real terminal cleaner. Give both terminals a good twist while pushing down then tighten them. Your new stereo should not affect your starting. That's just my opinion.
  16. Must be nice! I have rust, salt, sand, mud, ice and cow crap from the farm next door. Repete about 6 layers. But no paint under there.
  17. Hey sorry I couldn't help and wish you the best. Where do you live in Canada? It's small enough maybe you're just around the corner from me.
  18. I still say it's good enough flame for a Canadian hand warmer.
  19. Much better pic. I'm stumped, the cable housing and the backing plate should be two seperate parts as far as I know. Did someone weld the two togehter for a quicky saftey check? That would only be if they broke off a bolt but no I can't see where the bolt would have gone. Does the passanger side look the same? I was hoping someone with a '93 would have stepped in by now. Unless you can feed the new cable through the old sheathing I just don't know. I'm assuming both ends of the cables have factory ends on them so that wouldn't work.
  20. Congratulations, great Pathfinder. I hope you read the fine print that says the winner has to take ALL members out to lunch. I say we all meet up at a drive-through!
  21. Again I'm talking about my '98, is your bolt above or below where the cable passes through?
  22. Well there should be rubber around where the cable passes though above where it should be bolted but to me it looks to me where your arrow is should be a bolt head. Do you have the drums off yet?
  23. There should be a bolt right where your arrow is and another on the other side. Meaning cable in the middle with a bolt on the left and right. Have you looked on the inside to see if maybe someone has broken the bolts off before? Are there bolt ends to the nuts that are welded to the inside of the backing plates? And are both sides (drives and passengers) the same? It's looking pretty rusted in there (Canadian) I'm wondering if someone broke them off at sometime. The part at your arrow is part of the cable mount and shouldn't be part of the backing plate. The rubber plug should just be around the cable where the actually cable passes through the backing plate.
