  1. how about this : http://www.designengineering.com/category/catalog/cryo2-system-components/cryo2-air-intake
  2. I'll be hitting up the junkyards this Saturday and I still have "the list" it would probably be cheaper to buy the one you found but I will keep my eyes open for you
  3. I did the wet sanding thing when I had my 87 Hardbody, did the same thing, sanded too much on a corner and got down to the primer, I skipped compound since it is usually difficult to work with but I used the 3 step mothers and it looked great when it was done, (except for the primer spot!!)
  4. the earlier manuals were available on paper only, the capacities should be the same from the later trucks
  5. I know that some of the cut off discs are real skinny, I was cutting a muffler clamp off of my dakota one time and I borrowed a dremel tool from a co-worker (before I had my own) I must have went thru about 5 or 6 of those skinny discs!!
  6. I did the home made boot fix using a piece of a rubber from a set of "lift lips" from my old 87, just as rocknforchrist did, than I cut another square piece to go over the top, will see how it is tomorrow
  7. i don't think the FSM was made as a PDF. file that early, I beleive the first year it was made as a download was 93 or 94, someone correct me if I am wrong
  8. I had to cut one of mine out, I just cut the head of the bolt off, if you don't have them try to find the thicker cut off discs like this, http://www.homedepot.com/Dremel/h_d1/N-5yc1vZ1xg3Zgr/R-100484365/h_d2/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10051&catalogId=10053 or the fiberglass reinforced discs, http://www.homedepot.com/Dremel/h_d1/N-5yc1vZ1xg3Zgr/R-100009724/h_d2/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10051&catalogId=10053 make sure as you are cutting to not apply to much pressure or clock the dremel to the side or the disc will bind and break, just take it slow and select a high enough speed if you have a variable dremel.
  9. if that's the reason, just start drilling holes in the body!! Think of the better MPG with all that weight removed !!
  10. if it is a past code see if the owner will let you try to clear it before buying it, if the light goes off take it for a test drive and see if it stays off.
  11. That's pretty interesting, the cost doesn't bother me as I got it as a gift but if I had to buy it myself than it would be an option, plus it is smaller easier to find a place to install
  12. do those little tweeters even make a difference? What do you have to do to get to the rear speakers? do the grilles come off or do you have to take down the headliner? The rear speaker size is 5 x 7? the front doors also?
  13. see if it has OD, it's possible depending on the month it was made maybe it had a later transmission in it.
  14. mine had the whistle when I first put it on, but it went away, think it wasn't tight enough, I never noticed any whistling when I had the K&N on my V8 dakota, I will say that with this filter on my PF on wide open throttle IT IS LOUD!!!
  15. The early automatics (at least the one in my 87) did not have over drive, with the 4.62 gears that my 87 Hardbody had and with the stock 31's the engine would rev around 4000 RPM at 60 MPH, so consider that, I had 35's on my trucks so it reved high all the time, no OD was a bitch. Oh, My tranny lasted 130K miles before the first rebuild than I had it rebuilt about every 2 years after that, it's expensive to have rebuilt too around $2k each time !! I don't recall ever seeing a tranny light that came on when it got hot and I used to run in deep soft sand all the time on the beach back home, after the first rebuild the trans shop did install a external tranny cooler too.
  16. got a pair of those lift liners I bought for the 3" body lift I had in my 87 could probably use pat of one of them
  17. how big is the actual sensor? So that skinny wire goes to the sensor and the sensor is just hanging inside the hose?
  18. I'll have to make one of those, I have a pc of rubber from an old tailgate mat in my storage, And I was going to suggest just cutting a separate pc of rubber to ride over the top of the lower pc. but you beat me to it
  19. got any pics of how the temp sender goes into the hose? I found this on another site if the sender has to go in the hose compared to going in between the rad. fins: On my 90 sentra when I installed the Autometer water temp gauge (mechanical) The stock water outlet is not drilled and tapped for a sender but the overseas version of my engine is, (GA16i vs GA15), so I bought an extra water outlet from the junkyard and drilled and tapped the extra hole, pain in the butt part was finding someone with a tap that big didn't want to buy one just for this one job!, the water outlet even had an outline of where the hole was supposed to be.
  20. I just bought a new fan clutch for my PF, the old one was def. not working even though the engine temp never went above 1/4, but I can hear the fan now that it is working, Next junkyard trip I may pick up the taurus fan just in case I want to do the swap, my main concern was the AC wasn't getting enough air flow to get as cool as it should, I just had the AC repaired but it may need some more freon, from what the guys on the AC forum I go to are saying. Will the Taurus fan fit inside the stock shroud?
  21. I think I deleted the e-mail but I beleive Norman replied saying they were out of the maxima cooling fans how does the ford fan wire to have a high and low? Is it 2 separate wires or??
