How do your plugs look after a run like that? would tell you if you're running lean or rich..

Mine comes on shortly after the vehicle is started and stays on. probably the speed sensor on the rear axle, thanks for posting how to do the diagnostics though!

Mine is ziptied to the steering column. Hooked a volt meter up to it, 12V when door open, 0V when door closed.

That is one of the excellent things about what Nissan did with these trucks. Basically a generic engine/chassis harness, so even if not optioned from the factory, something could easily be added by the consumer. My XE has the wireplug for the SE foot lighting.

The timing usually end up retarded if the ECU doesn't get a "good" signal from that sensor. Kinda puts the motor into a limp mode.

I believe the one on the top of the block between the heads is the knock sensor. PITA when it needs to be replaced. Sorry, no advice on the valve spring compressor, other than renting one from your local parts supplier.

When changing differential gearing you have to change both front and rear diffs as they need to be the same, or VERY VERY close. If you don't and engage 4wd the front and rear wheels will move at different speeds, and this is baaaaaddddd.

I'd also like to think that I don't drive a clunker. Also, I feel that my pathfinder is much more reliable than my friends 4runner and toyo pickup.

Or... a 3.3 with z31 turbo goodies with an intercooler and upping the boost, should put you between 250-300whp

The lower gearing will actually get you better gas mileage. Your 4.3's are now effectively 4.01's. If you switch up to the 4.6 gear set, with the 31's your gear ratio would be 4.29.

basically, take a straight edge across the back side of the rim, and measure from the center of the wheel to the straight edge (ruler, etc) and that is the backspacing.

XE and SE is just a sticker as all trims came with all the options. But one of the easy ways to spot an SE truck is rear disc brakes, but even then, some SE's came with drum. I saw a super base model 4 door at the junkyard, manual locks, windows, and transmission. But had a sunroof and tire carrier. So

they just misaligned the shifter linkage. Easy fix to do yourself if you have a 10 or 12mm wrench handy. Not sure what the size is on these trucks, but it would probably take 5-10 minutes. Maybe 20 depending on how motivated you are and how many beers you consume.
