  1. Spock, any pics of your setup? Sounds like a lot of $$$$$$.
  2. Interesting. I've had a similar problem as well. I'm not sure exactly if it is attributed to the install of my JWT popcharger last year, but I also have a "throttle jerk" or almost a "foward shudder". This only occurs however, when I have the pedal floored. If I actually lift my foot up from the acclerator about an inch, this solves the "shuddering" and the acceleration actually increases. There's just this "red zone" from where the pedal is fully depressed to about an inch before where this occurs. When it is in the "red zone" the car shudders and RPM needle will bouce and RPMs will continue to stay high. I haven't figured out the cause or remedy to this either.
  3. Very nice bro!!! I am truly impressed! I think the TJM bumper should be next.
  4. Just a little FYI...I used to do maintenance work at a tank farm where gasoline haulers would get the gas to fill the inground tanks at gas stations. At the time, there were four different companies operating facilities next to each other. Texaco, Sunoco, Exxon, and Citgo. They all got their holding tanks filled from the same refinery using the same pipeline from Texas. The different grades of gasoline is determined at the refinery, so Exxon's 87 octane is the exact same product as Citgo's 87 octane. The difference comes into effect when the gasoline companies blend additives into the higher grades, which is actually done at the pumps as the haulers are filled, not in the large holding tanks. "Regular" has no additives, and "Premium" does. "Plus" is sort of a half-and-half blend of the two. Texaco used to blend 1.1 gallon of their additive to 1,000 gallons of regular to make it "Premium". If you didn't dilute it that much, it would eat all the seals in your engine. It could burn through your skin. Good stuff, cleans everything. Citgo's additive, however, has essentially the same chemical make up as dishwashing liquid. The material safety data sheet for the additive said if you happen to drink a quart of it, all you have to do is induce vomiting. That's the real problem with the cheaper gas. If you're filling up with regular, it's all the same. What you really have to look out for with the smaller mom & pop stations is sediment in their tanks or in the independant haulers' trucks which you end up pumping straight into your tank. So you've just reinforced my beliefs then, to stay away from cheap gas stations. Yes, everyone's heard of citgo, exxon, texaco, chevron etc...selling gas is their specialty. Its just when places like supermarkets(ie safeway, albertson's) try to jump on the gas selling bandwagon. I knew about the additive deal. I've read a lot of good things about Techron by Chevron so i try to stick with them. But whats stopping one of those cheap places from adding something instead of buffering the gas, you're diluting it?
  5. I have to agree with lbinh there. With the price of gas, its hard on the wallet keeping that Pathy tank filled up with Premium. That wasn't the case when I first bought the car and gas was around the $1.50 mark. 89 is what I put in my tank. Nothing less or else I start hearing the knocking and pinging associated with cheap gas. And I also stay away from those cheap supermarket gas stations like Safeway, Costco etc etc. I've heard lots of bad things about the poor quality of gas that is used. But I stick with Chevron mostly.
  6. Yup, I'm pleased with my Manik brush guard and tails. But if you shop around you can find them for cheap. 4x4parts is too expensive IMO.
  7. So the item looks good, real good. The stock skid plate, which I should really call a "splash guard" on my 98 is pretty darn flimsy. Some of the bolts holding it up have rusted through and have their bolt heads broken off. I've read a lot of people complaining the about the same thing as well. How much does the front skid plate weight? My concern is that these flimsy bolts were not meant to hold up a heavy skid plate but rather a cardboard splashguard. Know what I mean?
  8. Gotta love CD changers. Ben Harper- Diamonds on the Inside Jack Johnson - Live at the Gorge, WA Jack Johnson - Thicker than Water soundtrack Daft Punk - Alive 1997 DJ Dan- Essential Mix at San Fran Paul Van Dyk - Live at Seattle
  9. Yup, good job to Jim and all the mods. I just don't understand why people would even have to curse on this board. F-ing this and f-ing that. No need for the profanity anyways. Just gotta realize the type of peope who feel the need to use profanity every other word and those who can express themselves with the same point it.
  10. Yup, I installed some NGK Iridium IX's in my Pathy along with the NGK wires. Very nice performance mod. There is a noticeable increase in mpg and also acceleration.
  11. Holy $h*t. $4 a gallon? thats insane. Over here in Eastern Washington, the cheapest is $2.15 and the highest is $2.40. Its jumped up about 7 cents overnight.
  12. Doh!!! Coolant flush. Forgot all about that one. I dunno when the last time it was changed. I have to assume never just like the tranny fluid. Whats the recommended interval for coolant flush?
  13. Yup, I've been noticing the same where my tank is at and my miles. Seems like there is more gas then I recal having at after driving a certain amount of miles since I filled up. Follow me? lol. But I'm very satisfied with it. I just had all 3 drive belts replaced last week. Tranny flushed last month. The car is so quiet now. I'm very happy with the performance now.
  14. The #6 spark plug between the firewall is going to be found on both the VG33 and VG30 engines. I guess you could call it a problem. I call it a biotch. sssh I switched to the Iridium IX plugs and also the NGK plug wires too. There was an initial noticeble gain off the start, a lot more peppier. Now that they've been in for about 3 weeks now, I've noticed an increase in gas mileage too. I'm very happy about the upgrade. Make sure you change out your rotor and cap while you're at it. Mine were at 75k and still looked pretty new.
  15. Now maybe someone can enlighten me. In the 99.5+ the EVAP canister is obviously located in the rear as those directions said. It says that it may have to be removed. Is this the same for my 98? I thought it was a simple 3 bolts on each side.
  16. Hey BigJ, where did you get them from and how much? AC's price is ok but when you tack on shipping from FL to Washington, I'd rather shop from someone closer.
  17. If its within your budget, get some drilled Brembo rotors and upgrade to a semi/metallic brake pad, like PBR, Hawk to name a few off the top of my head. The difference is night and day. My experience with ceramic pads, is that they don't last nearly as long and they give off a lot of dust which leave you with dirty front rims. My PBR Metalmasters are dustless and my front wheels stay clean.
  18. All of the above you just mentioned I also did myself just about 2 weeks ago. Did you disconnect the negative ground from the battery so that the ECU would reset? You could always try that right now to reset it. I would just back track and make sure that all the plugs and wires were set in tightly and properly, no leaks anywhere where you reconnected to your TB or along those lines. I also read that cleaning your TB may mess with your TB sensor which may cause weird idling RPM's. Might look into it. I think you can get it adjusted. Good luck.
  19. LOL, yes I was thinking about giving up at one point. There were times where I thought I was threading the new plug on but actually I wasn't. Just takes patience and a good visual memory of where the extension was and the angle of it when you removed the old plug. You do have to press firmly down onto the plug to actually thread it. I realized, that I was spinning the plug around and around just barely off the hole for aboout 25 minutes thinking I was close.
  20. Yup, the 6th plug is a biotch. The other plugs take about 2 min each to do. The 6th took me about 45 min. Most of which was trying to locate the old plug to remove, and then locating the hole to install the new plug. But one tool I used which WASN'T in the Nissan tool kit, my girlfriend's small hands.
  21. Here are some pics of the procedure that I'm sure will help you guys out. NGK Plug and Wire Change
  22. Yeah i think my Pathy's got a saggy A$$ too. LOL. But everyone says the initial lift is 3" but as the coils settle, it'll be 2".
  23. I take my Pathy off road I'd say about an average of once a week. Luckily around here, there are tons of nice logging trails and also an ORV park.
