    Problems

i have a K&N FIPK that i cleaned about a month ago. the plugs that i put in it were Bosch platinum/iridium mix +4 (not my first choice but all the parts store had). Is it possible that the ECM had to recalibtare itself because i just went on a drive with semi highway speeds and now i seam to be getting 13.

    Problems

I have recently change my spark plugs and some weird thing have happened. Before i was getting around 12 - 13 mpg but now i getting 8-9 mpg and i even put mid grade gas in to my 98 R50. I have aksed around a some people tell that it a fluke and some tell me that my plugs are gapped wrong. Does any body know the gap for these. PLEASE HELP!!!!
  3. what does the rearview mirror look like
  4. thats the one that i have but it doesnt seem to be complete
  5. Does anybody know where i can get a complete FSM. I downloaded a partial one but it doesnt have all the info that i want and need
  6. its more than likely the heater core
  7. i personally dont like IFS and the reason is because all the soccer mom mobiles and such are going to IFS and IRS and the only reason for that is beacuse of ride. Manafatures know that IFS/IRS is weaker and wont last as long but they dont care. they want to get a car like ride out of a 2 ton SUV or truck as well as add the wad of cash in their pockets by selling replacement parts. SA in my opinion is the only way to have a "true" off road vehicle but thats just me
  8. what does every body think that im a moron of course i waited for the block to cool down, because ive tried to change plugs on warm/hot engines and that wasnt a good idea. My fingers just aren't long enough to feel the plug down in the hell hole behind the block and next to the fire wall. Oh yeah one more thing with the VG if you take the cap of the rotor you can see the plug and hole for the #2 plug i believe. I would def suggest iridiums or an iridium platinum mix based soley on the amount of work that it akes to change the plugs, also i have noticed a huge difference in performance and mileage, but mayube thats because my old plugs were shot
  9. I absoultely despise the man that designed the VG33E for the R50. I chaneged the plugs on it yesterday and i about lost my mind. Plugs 1-5 were realitivly easy but then came plug #6. Afer i pulled the plug wire (which was a bad mistake) it took me 30+ min to find the plug. Meaning that i couldn't see it i could feel it and finally i thought that well maybe if i had a mirror i could see down there better. So i used my rear view moirror but i didnt know that it was held in by a snap ring i thought that it was held in by a screw in the back, so i loosened the screw and that was the biggest mistake becasue as soon as that screw came out i couldnt get it back in and now my mirror is slightly broken. But back to the plugs after i got smart and used a light while leaning against the fender on the passenger side i finally saw it. and at that point it was kinda easy, but the tools that are provided do make it a lot easier. SO to any body going to change their plugs be perpared to take some time out of your day and make sure that there are no little kids around becasue you will more that likeley to drop a few "f" bombs and a few "MF". But like i said 1-5 are easy when it comes to #6 use a flash light and lean on the fender at the firewall on the passenger side and look behind the manifold and you should see it. Also think about using a plug that will last a while like platnium/iridium or straight iridium. and if possible use the tools that are provided.
  10. why is the brass cap/rotor better?

    K & N Filter

Ive had my filter on there since i bought my pathy, and i havent had any problems with the maf or with the filter moving around. My uncle was the one to install the filter and i know that he got it from AC (4x4parts.com) and they sent him the one that was the corect filter for it. I drive an R50 so im not sure if AC would have the correct one for you.
  12. yeah i have the tool but from what ive heard it doesn't sound like fun, but will it hust if i have two different types of plugs and what is the best kind
  13. Im going to replace the plugs on my 98 XE and i want to go with NGK plugs, but am wondering what are the best ones. Iridium, platnium, v power, copper, what? Also if i put in an Iridium in #6 and platnium in the rest will that do any harm. The reason being the amount of effort that it will to take to change this plug.
  14. might also want to try drivewire.com. They seem to have decent prices on some of thier parts
  15. After looking on line and reading a lost of posts here is a list of mods that i thinking about for my pathy (available funds determines oder in which gets done first): 1. Electric fans 2. Warn Manual Hubs 3. NGK platnium/iriduim plugs 4. Upgraded plug wires 5. Tranny cooler 6. 02 Sensors 7. Custom exhaust 8. Additives, such as seafoam etc.. Can any one please tell me what i would see the best result in doing and the cost effectivness of doing these. Also is there an order in which i should try and perform these mods? If i can perform all these mods will there be a big increase in MPG or just performance(which isnt all bad) My main goal is to get better than around 12 MPG city. Thanks
  16. What is SEA foam and what will it do? I have tought about using a fuel syatem cleaner but im not sure which what one is the best. Ive heard BG is the best but then ive heard that its not that great. Also im thinking about changing my spark plugs and wires. Are NGK plugs gonna do much for me, or is there a better brand?
  17. I have recently bought a 98 XE with a K&N FIPK on it. To my suprise i am getting around 12 to 14 mpg. Is this normal of is there any thing that you can think of that i can do to improve my mpg. I cleaned the filter about 3 weeks ago and am in the process of changing the fuel filter (please help me with this as i fought with it for about 30 min before giving up). Also i have a very bad exhaust leak at the the flex pipe on the passenger side is this normal and what is the easiest way to fix this.
