  1. In my situation(s) i didnt expect them to pay for it, in both cases I went in having done my homework and was asking for the service department to look into the issue to assist me and was basically laughed at and told i had no idea what i was talking about because he had never heard anything about the problem i was asking them to look into. that conversation was involving a 2k maxima, I was also told during a complimentary so many point inspection on my 98 maxima (coupon thing) that the factory trained techs are taught to blame any aftermarket part first and track other problems second, he took me aside and told me this because i had a high flow intake and exhaust system and was asking about the idle fluctuating slightly.. the thing that irritates me about my experience and most others is the treatment most of us get even when we have some research to back up our claims, and especially in my case where i wasnt running about screaming recall as it seems your thinking i may have been, 1 i had an issue, possible cause and research to back that up 2 i went to the service department for assistance 3 i didnt get anything but options for VERY expensive diagnostic services and the feeling that i had no business diagnosing my own vehicle lastly as a service manager, it was not my intention to offend you and I hope that being a member of a community like this and being in the position that you're in with nissan that you may find a way to make these situations at least feel at least a little less alienating to folks like us, even when you dont have the option to "give" us anything.
  2. I told the local service manager here to his face he needs to do the research and get his facts straight, i dont care how aware he personally is of the issue that im having but when its happening all over the country or world, they need to take notice and if its not yet an expensive enough issue to recall or take responsibility for, at least be aware and point us to the proper fix with the proper pieces, show us your on the side of the car and the consumer instead of the sales managers....sigh lol have had this issues with the screws on the pathy and on the 2k maximas (ex wifes old car) there was a problem with the DEK manifold actuator valve or whatever that opened the second stage of the intake breaking off inside, of course old folk who never get to the upper rpm range wont have that problem but the people who drive the car are also smart enough to find a way to fix it without having to spend $500+ on a new intake. oh i dont know that it made it all the way through i just meant out of the engine, if i pulled the cat i may just find a lil brass nub that used to be a screw :O lol
  3. I should have added earlier that after a few min mine spit the screw out the exhaust as i never heard the tapping again...thats how i meant i dodged the bullet, if yours is still tapping its either not kicking it out or you have something else going on too..sorry to hear man, best of luck with the dealer report.
  4. wow those are chunky! anyone know anything about the wear/life on those?
  5. Especially after driving other cars then getting back into my 02 i notice this big time, and my breaks are only a year old. Im curious as well.
  6. It definitely sucks that this info is going to hamper your plans, but its good to find out before you get so far into it that you cant go back or you find some damage.
  7. You cant use manual hubs on an all mode 4x4, screws with the sensors and throws the CEL if the thing about the oil pump is true also an even bigger reason why you cant do that. The manual hubs will only work on the manual 4x4.
  8. if yours looked like mine, spray the hell out of the bracket bolt with lube!!! not only was it easy to see but a bitch to reach but my bracket broke off due to being frail and rusty, lol, i had to get creative when i put it back together, and you def wanna pull the fuse to let the pressure out, even after i did that i wished i had another hand to plug the drip with. good luck and if your already frustrated with another part of the project...take a short break before starting the fuel filter...my $.02 good luck
  9. had the same fright on mine, as long as you dont gorilla grip it you should be fine, straight back and it does take a little oomph
  10. are you getting a CEL when this happens?
  11. driver side does it intermittently but pass side has done it since i got it i think.. its funny to watch passengers thinking it was something they did try to screw with it, lol, but I could have sworn that somewhere in a thread talking about cleaning out the channels that someone had "reset" something about the motor so the limit switch or whatever would stop the window in the proper place. i'll keep digging.
  12. I could have sworn there was a post somewhere about resetting your window motor or something when you engage the auto up and it goes to the top and back down a couple inches...anyone know where that went?
  13. well im thoroughly disgusted...*sets down snack with sour look on face* Im all for customs and give people props on their passion whenever i can but damn man..thats just gross.
  14. OMG i think i just squirted a little!!....just a little bit. that sounds freakin awesome! I want one!!
  15. Proctologist = azz doctor... as in glove snaps to wrist and you start admitting guilt to things you didnt even do
  16. wow man thats awesome!, those wiring shots make me wince but damn when its done and right and you can step back and look at it, thats gonna be cool
  17. great thank you, i was kinda hoping i could wait before i needed to change it...spent a lot of money on that stuff hehe
  18. Just wondering how often those of you with synthetic fluids change yours out? yearly? by the mileage? whats your preference? At the moment ive got amsoil in the tranny and redline in the transfer front and rear.
  19. and to get one of these right? http://www.stillen.com/product.asp?id=STISUPR06&c=PE

incredible weight reduction! did you notice any difference in your rt or 60' times at the track?? hehehe ok i'll stop
  21. im a jack a tad here...hehe... i was looking at some jugs of mobil 1 syn today at the store and i saw 0-30 and the back was saying all this stuff about better gas mileage and better engine life...why would it be a good idea to go thinner with the oil?? or is it not, i had been using mobil 1 5 - 30 like da book say but with some tapping on cold starts i thought maybe 10 - 30 might be better... not trying to lead this topic astray but i thought oil weight might be a good companion to this question rather than beginning a new post. and i put amsoil in my tranny last time but redline in my transfer case and front n rear ends, heard good things, shifts great, rides nice...thats my professional opinion hehehe
  22. oh its not to give you the 7k rpm redline?? hehehe j/k
  23. you mentioned ecm reprogram, maybe the big chunk of that is having that done through them, unless i misunderstand you, i know from maxima research that ecm programming is quite spendy.
