  1. Has anyone in this forum made it to 400K or 500K yet?
  2. Thank you Redpath. I'll keep an eye out for yours.
  3. Year of the Cat - by Al stewart. One of my favorites
  4. I swapped my open diff. for an LSD years back. The diff is acting funny and making noise when I make turns and when I back up. Since I made the swap I never change the oil but I was sure the oil container said that it was OK for LSD (don't remember the brand). I change the oil today it looks ok, the magnet has some build up. The vehicle still behaves the same as always. I have good knowledge about the benefits of an LSD but not much beyond that. My questions are this: Can a knowledgeable member tell me what will really happen should someone put non LSD oil into an LSD diff? Beside wear, what can cause the banging feeling I feel when I make turns? Does someone know an effective oil for the task (I used PEPboys stuff)? My vehicle: 90XE, 2WD, almost 300K, light off roading. I searched the forum first, the results are quite inadequate.
  5. The Pathfinders have an interference engine. The 95 4Runners do not, they are more forgiving should the timing belt break
  6. My thoughts as well, something's fishy there. No, not the burrito
  7. Almost at 300000 miles, it should be a breeze to get there. I took good care of the truck for the last 16 years and it returned the favor. I only have to correct the rear engine seal for now. I loose about a quart to the ground between oil changes that's why I am not too worried. It's just a nuisance to see oil stains on the ground.
  8. While on this topic: What is the best way to pull the seal out ( ie. tools or techniques)? Mine leaks and it's just a nuisance after a while.
  9. Mine has split personality. I rarely come across another Pathfinder with two tone.
  10. follow up: Why not choose an independent, certified testing lab. There are quite a number of them? http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=17907 Why you're selling it?
  11. Gentlemen, if you want to increase your mileage use a common sense approach: slow down, tune your vehicle, check your tire pressure and don't carry unnecessary weight. I maintain that those magnetic gizmos are bogus. You may get a placebo effect by adjusting your driving behavior to fit your expectation when you install that device. I don't care if it's called Fuelmiser, Fuelmax or what ever cleaver name they come up with, they don't work. Save your time and money. http://www.consumeraffairs.com/news04/2006/08/fuelmax.html
  12. Yeah, that looks like real scientific research . You should take Mr. Pickles' offer.
  13. Your results could be anecdotal. How many times have you repeated both tests? I'm still not convinced those things truly work.
  14. Luckily I live in the South and a bit vigilant, so far no rust.
  15. You were right after all. The tab for my brake switch broke off while driving. I got pulled by a cop over and realized the brake lights were always on. The cop let me go (thankfully). When I got home, I found there were two holes next to the switches. I got those hole plugged and that fixed both problems.
  16. Tach/speed work fine. The light that comes on is the the one on the instrument panel "Cruise/Cont".
  17. I'm not having any luck getting the cruise to work. I checked the switch with a tester and it's fine. I swap the orange module under the hood and check the vacuum still nothing. Any suggestions?
  18. I'll look into that Cuong. I've already made the module swap and got nothing.
  19. I tried to post you pictures of the switch and related systems but I keep getting an attachment error. Perhaps someone else can post you some pictures
  20. Horns are ok. I'll continue to check other spots in the truck before I swap the cruise module. Thank you all
