  1. Thanks for the update...I was wondering what the verdict was going to be and even more interested to see if, based on your trip to the dealer, what I had heard from my VQ that one day was in fact a screw falling out. My question is: how can you leave it in there if the engine's making such a terrible noise? I believe late build 2000 Pathy's were the first to get the VQ's, but it's happening on 04's even. It's a terrible design flaw!! And they don't give a rat's about it either. I'm pulling for you man...I really hope those 1-800-a$$-hole Nissan North America d!ckwads don't pull the out of warranty sh!t on you. It's reasons like this I may never buy another NEW nissan again...they're build quality and customer relations have simply gone down the sh!tter. Keep us updated! Gianni
  2. LOL thanks Yep. another classic issue. I'm not bashing Nissan service managers by themselves and saying they're peons compared to the rest of the industry...in fact I think they're actually pretty good (compared to some of the other dealers I've dealt with) and the denials they have are probably from a higher power instructing them to do it...they're not going to just admit to every common issue they're cars have. That could cost the company millions in settlements. Nissans of late (2000+) just seem to have some inherent issues with them that are worse than normal it seems (powertrain wise)
  3. No kidding...Nissan service managers love to plead the fifth with this problem. I had the SAME EXACT issue with my 2002 QR25DE powered SE-R Sentra (same engine as the 4 cylinder Altima's) My engine actually DID eat a screw that bent the sh!t out of the side electrode on the plug...I bogged down on 3 cylinders with 3/4 acceleration on the skinny pedal in third gear doing about 65 mph (on the highway) The QR's are NOTORIOUS for this problem (esp. the production date 2001-late models which mine was) The entire engine was replaced with a 2005 one under warranty...and the service manager claimed he'd never once heard the issue before. That's exact reason was why I ended up getting rid of that car and into the Pathy...mainly because of it's still Japanese-built roots (the Sentra's prooudly made in Mexico) Little did I know this issue is becoming mainstream with them. They need to get their head out of their a$$es is what needs to happen...and stop meddling in joint ventures with Renault and GM!
  4. It's better to be safe than sorry...agree it would be better to know before you take it to them so you can tell them exactly what to look for.
  5. HA! I took that pic. with him on the Outer Banks in winter...one of the deeper water crossings

    HOA's

Best reply yet. That sums it up, well said P

    HOA's

You obviously don't care the slightest about bringing more attention to yourself than you're already doing...disregard my last post

    HOA's

I would comply with what they're saying and not be an a$$ about it. If you can't deal with their rules, you need to find a new dwelling. I'm sure those rules and regs. were in place before you moved in, thus not giving you much of a leg to stand on. HOA's have dealt with issues like the one you're having many times before I'm sure and they know how to make it miserable for you. Before anything else, I would get a copy of their Constitution (of whatever law-written piece of paper they have) and read it to a T. See exactly what's allowed and prohibited. Know your enemy before you confront it
  9. LOL! Says the man with a picture of him and his wife in his profile
  10. Congrats, welcome to the club!! Keg? What, no open bar?!?!
  11. You write very well for someone with one working upper appendage I did the same thing (in 6th grade) on the first day of school. Good luck with the scan and quick healing too!
  12. Hey...weren't you selling your truck a while back? Gains w/ the pop charger will probably be negligible...though your a$$ dyno may tell you different
  13. You would be lucky to get too much of anything at this point, though, a running one would be better obviously. The market for these things has gone down substantially over the last year, with the exception of MAYBE the 04 Platinum Editions or the LE's. I say give it a patch job to get it idling properly and find yourself a wholesaler to pawn it off to. That may be your best bet for getting a decent amount of $$ for it. "Resale value" for R50's in virtually non-existent.
  14. I think people register on this site to SPECIFICALLY ask the all important "I'm gonna lift my Pathy" and "I need bigger tires" questions, then never reply again.
  15. HA! He posted it again...some more depressing pics of it http://norfolk.craigslist.org/car/745313098.html
  16. Ugly man, that's ugly I think it just looks like an XE. It's still for sale apparently.
  17. I had one of those "bumper guards" on my R50 before I sold it, a Westin actually. Had two KC Daylighters mounted on it too. One wheeling trip and that thing was dented and mangled to bits on the underside. It was aluminum and not worth a sh!t as far as strength goes...
  18. I just called the dealership and read THEM the VIN. Yep, that's it They were pulled off.
  19. Was browsing craigslist and came across this..... http://norfolk.craigslist.org/car/741818350.html MY TRUCK!! Looks like it ended up at auction and wound up on a slummy dealers lot, still with the balled General Grabbers, OME lift and Hidden Hitch. The question is...where the hell did the stock pathfinder roof rack go, along with the step rails (I had reinstalled the step rails when I sold it) Kind of looks like a stripped down XE now. Wow...a little bittersweet right now!! What it USED to look like:
  20. Glad to see they're bringing back the "4DSC" Ad. Campaign from the early 90's era models. It looks great, FAR better than previous. IMO the 2001.5-2003 Max's were some of the best looking ones (def. came with the best engine offered to that date too) This one brings me back that feeling again. I've always been a fan, and fell out of love with them in 2004 for ugly reasons. I can see myself easily falling for this one again! And 290 h.p. to boot!! Looks like Nissan is getting back to making decent looking cars again. **EDIT** What? No 6 speed? Come one now...!!
  21. WD's are better than R50's, blah blah blah, I remember that one well
  22. That's what I was thinking too.
