I had this problem and did what was mentioned above about taking off the rubber hose from the air filter and spraying down the butterfly adn working it a bit. Dont use even half the can!! Just to be safe I sprayed it worked it and sprayed it again, then I drove it for a day and repeated the same procedure the next day. I never had the problem after that.

Nice fab work but not my style either. Whatever makes you happy I guess. I do say those colors are hideous though.

$4+ a gallon - what's your personal solution
zonianbrat replied to Mr. Pickles's topic in General Forums
A very good point. Gas is not the only thing going up, everything is! The country is waist deep in a recession (i think) and it is only going to get worse before it gets better. I watched a news special and the forecast for 6 months-2 years is that crude oil will go up to around 200 dollars a barrel and hover there for awhile. Thus rising our gas prices to between 5.50-6.50 a gallon. Scary thought. We will see if it really happens I guess. My solution...expense my gas to my company. I had to drive a total of 900 miles to get to work 3 days ago!! No I dont drive a big rig I drive a blue oval monster explorer. Nice thing is it is averaging around 21 mpg and I have alot more power than i did with my R50. -
Well, it's officially totalled. As if we all did not know that already! Things have been hectic here lately, my little girl is sick and I hope not to get that, My boss really wants me to get down to TX to work, Which is bullshirt cause I requested a week off. I told him my hands are kinda tied since I dont have a vehicle. Then he freakin asked me if I could "borrow" a truck to go....yeah like somebody wants to lend me a truck to drive 1500 miles with and keep for 3-4 weeks. As far as what happened during the accident B..yeah I kinda pulled out in front of him I guess. And as far as what I am going to get...

Not much too spill. really bad circumstances, it was also aided by a city bus. Basically I was making a left onto a busy street. A bus was turning right onto the street I was on. Basically the other truck was in his blind spot. I did not see him and started to make my turn and he hit me pretty much head on with the front corner of his truck.

Here are a couple more. Man this sucks.

Ok, I am not going to bore you with details of how it happened. I will let the pics describe it. I will say that a Ford F-150 was on the other vehicle involved. Thank the good lord I did not have Shelby or the kids with me. I'm off to shop for a new truck tomorrow. Oh and I am ok, Just really stiff, sore and bruised. R.I.P

Fueler has it right. Most likely Fan clutch. Could be a good time for an E-fan swap! If you do just have a dirty radiator, I recommend flushing it out first, then go ahead and remove the radiator so you can clean the fins really really good, then re-install it and put fresh anti-freeze in there. It's really easy to do and cheap insurance. I did this and replaced all my hoses when I did my t-belt change.

I also have a 97 XE and when I drive to the rigs (usually 4+ hours away) I am loaded with gear and food etc. I get right around 14 depending on the grade of the road. Like if there are alot of hills then I am screwed. 13 mpg's does not surprise me especially if your heavy with gear and have gear on top causing more drag. Kinda like stacking a brick on top of another brick. Welcome to the 3.3 reality. Low on power crappy on gas. Could be worse, you could be driving a WD-21........

The dick dc-1's for sure dude.

What kind of wear and cracks are we talking about here? I just ask this because a certain kind and amount of cracking is acceptable on drive belts. From the explanation above it does maybe sound like you got crappy belts, but I just figured I would ask. My drive belts are from Nissan and have 22,000 miles on them yet they already have minor usual type of cracking. That is certainly not to say it is not a good idea to go ahead and switch over to those gatorbacks. I just wanted to put in my .02

VH45 Swap & SAS Update (Merged Threads)
zonianbrat replied to tmorgan4's topic in Solid Axle Swaps, Hardcore Custom Fab
Took you long enough!!! J/K glad to see it in action. I'm jealous -
nice find enjoi! it is going for pretty cheap. i like the doors on it. Deffinitely a good deal if you could get it for 500 bucks!

Assuming the knock sensor hasnt just died. Then all it does is detect of the engine is knocking. You said you were coming home from camping. Was the campsite at a higher altitude? Did you use a low octane fuel before going up. I just ask this incase you put in 87 and went to a high altitude and it messed with the computer and threw the knock sensor code out. I would try disconnecting it to see if it resets the codes, if it comes back on then try running codes again.

I dont think the mounts to the lower control arm are usually painted the body color. It may have been painted after a ding or something. Ride is lookin sweet Isaac.
-
I once talked to someone who did the conversion on a small nissan pickup and he said it was not very hard but he lost atleast 10% of his power. But was getting better gas mileage.
-
Tyler, been wondering how your swap has been going. I havent been on Ronin much either. Hope all is going well. besides the butt clinching 11k bill.
-
Sucks to hear about your ride being keyed. My ex girlfriend and her new boyfriend keyed my camaro like a month after we broke up (I knew it was her cause we saw each other at halloween party. I accused her but since I did not catch her in the act nothing could be done about it. It really sucks. whats worse is her boyfriend jumped me and beat me up pretty good like a month later. we fought again later and I got even but that's another story. Good job catching the prick Dank!

So I looked today and it is the axle shaft. The shaft itself goes into a coupler thingy and on the back side of it is where it is leaking. I will find a blown up pic later but now i am off to bed
-
I'll try to get under it soon to determine exactly what it is. Axle shaft does sound good too. As long as it doesnt get worse I wont worry about it. I will however try the stop leak if it is the steering rack.
-
yeah I think it is the steering rack. I just found it the day I was coming back to work and snapped a couple of pics and that is it. Havent had time to really get under there to research anything
-
Here is the first pic rotated the correct way
-
Took these pics while I was home. I just discovered the leak. It is not that bad of a leak yet. Maybe a drip or two a day but I still dont want it to get any worse. Anybody know what this seal is and how hard it is to fix. The pics are under the front diff passenger side. Thanks for any advice/information

HELP! Pathfinder died in the middle of the road...
zonianbrat replied to Ruiner's topic in General Forums
I was gonna say the same thing pezzy did. Sounds like fuel pump or relay since you still have electric.
