What is not too believe? The screen is less restrictive as in bigger holes. Unless you are running chicken wire as your filter. I say do what you want with it. but keep in mind if something does get through (believe me it has happened) and hits your maf sensor (The two itty bitty wires) and breaks either one your going to regret taking out the screen as your Maf if not cheap. And it is not like your are going to get that much more air flow anyway.

I'd say go look at it. Inspect it very closely as far as rust goes. You could probably pick up an ECU pretty cheap I would think. For 500 jbucks I would seriously think about it. It could be a pure wheeling rig if nothing else. Or part it out you could probably get some $ for the wheels then sell the motor I am just shooting up in the air here. But you do have to look at it since it says it has alot of body rust... well from that pic I do not see much "body" rust maybe the pic is of it's good side.

Man I have to ask do you literally live ON the beach? I have never seen rust quite so bad even on junkers that have been sitting for years.

Well I do not know where to get any. It just shows how much I have looked into getting them. I had no idea that stillen even quit making them.

I noticed after I did my t-belt job I replaced the plugs and had the same arcing noise. I would notice it when I first started it up. Most of the time I would rev the engine a little bit and it would go away. I looked for sparks in complete darkness to no evail. I have not noticed it in awhile to tell you the truth I kinda forgot about it. I drove it on a short road trip (250 miles) and it is driving really good so I do not think I am losing spark anywhere. I am going to be replacing the cap and wires soon too, maybe the rotor not too sure yet.

Well it does not sound too crazy 4x4le I believe it. I know when I lived back home my buddies mom had three cats. they would crawl into the engine for the warmth during the colder nights ( why they were not already in the house is beyond me) anyway two of those cats got grinded up when my buddies mom started her car. sad story i know. I am not saying this is why the mesh is there I am just throwing a story out there.

I use castrol syntec blend in the pathy, and Mobil 5000 in my wifey's honda same for the work truck.

Well CD if you are like me I am impatient. I have not been keeping up on how your project is going but you have both motors correct? Apparently you have the mechanical know-how so do what you want. Do not listen to anybody else here. I like the idea of the SBC myself but I love power and lots of it. Durability is good also but again you have both motors and if you do not have alot of cash then I would go with the SBC save some cash for other mods on the project, get it running and crawling and while you are still having fun with your bad_a$$ sased pathy you could be rebuilding the VG slowly but perfectly so that if something bad does happen to the SBC you got it covered. Like I said before dont listen to anybody including me I just like thinking and sharing what I would do If I was in your shoes. Whatever you chose I am sure it will be sweet. BTW Is there some special reason you are wanting to convert to propane?? Why not instead switch from carburated to fuel injection?? assuming it is not already that is.

I agree with you cd. The SBC is an all-american work-horse.

Man sorry 94pathy I have been swamped at work and to top it off my wife has a new schedule now at work (Nurse) so on sunday,monday tuesday,wednesday I have to rush home so my wife can go to work. Bummer we could not get together.

More power is just plain more fun in most cases. Sure the dependebility is one thing but if you have a good SBC then let the good times roll. And besides if you blow it later on you will still have the VG right? No worries. Plus it will be cool to be able to smoke the tires all four if you want.....

As long as it is not a DD I say hell yeah. GO FOR IT!!

Sweet. He was originally talking about moody hill or somewhere like that. I personally have not been up moody hill yet. I usually go wheelin or ride my dirt-bike up by rustic or red feather lake area.

AK I am not sure if you have been following the progress of tylers 4.5" lift but when he get's it done he wants to go and test it out on a run. My truck is pretty much stock with BFG's but I am still down to go as far as I can. Do you wanna come with? I really want to see what tylers truck will do with the new lift and I wanna see your rig climb some SH*&. Tyler said his lift was gonna be done by the end of August but I have not been able to find out where he stands.

I think it has to do with where the truck has been driven, type of gas, and how the truck was driven. just my opinion. I did the spray fix and mine was pretty black with what looked like carbon not goo so if it is infact goo you might need to investigate more. I had to do a couple of cleanings on mine but after that I check it every 3-6 months or so and it has been sparkling ever since I did it and no pedal stick either. I would just watch out and do not spray the whole can of carb cleaner in there the first time as it is already kinda hard to start the truck with only using 1/2 the can. I used half the can while operating the butterfly ofcourse then put everything back to gether ran it around for like a day or so then repeated the procedure and it is clean to this day.

Sounds good what time will you guys be here monday? I have a meeting at 1:00 and if things work out I am just going to blow off the rest of the day which means I could atleast have a brew. Wifey will have the truck or we would hit a quick trail.

Yeah I know what you mean slick. My dad's best friend was always working and taking boats out (we went with them 90% of the time) so my dad saw no need to buy a boat himself (smart man). Anyway my dad always told me that boats are alot of fun but they are black holes for money too. I tried to explain this tothe wife thing is we have our 1 year old daughter who already loves the water. So my wife thinks we should get a boat and be able to raise her on the water. I agree to an extent but I still want the truck instead call me selfish. Oh well I am in talks with a guy witha 18' silver star right now with an inboard mercury motor. He says it has around 120 hp. Sounds pretty sweet but I have to go and look at it sometime this week. The boat is old so I am a little worried but it do want a fixer-upper and that seems to be all we can afford. any tips on what to look for slick??? Plan is get the boat this year and in the next year or so get another pathy.....

Dam I have to work too or else we would go. Let me see what is going on this week at work maybe I can take a day off early or something. If I cant go wheelin it would be cool to atleast meet you guys. I work somewhat close to westminster so maybe we can work something out. I'll be in touch.

Thanks slick, and everybody else for the links etc. I am having a little trouble convincing the wife that we need a truck strictly for wheeling. So it is still up in the air. Wifey kinda wants a boat. I looked at some fixer-uppers and whoa!!! Some people want insane amounts for boats that will not even float. Oh well I am keeping my fingers crossed. I want the truck personally.

And I am sure somebody here is going to chime in soon with more possibly better advice.
