  1. not at all. i'm actually gonna take that off in the next few days and replace it with a painted aluminum diamond plate one i cut to fit and match the bumpers. stainless steel trim + 3 layers of dynamat extreme on that liftgate is not great. way to much weight, even with brand new struts. i'm sure i'll get tagged with tire coverage or bumper height before something silly like that
  2. history on mine: 105k: tranny splined out the output shaft, destroying the planetary gears and killing my tcase with it too. luckily, after calling in some favors, it was only $2100 to rebuild both the tranny and tcase. after that i put in the biggest tranny cooler i could find, its half the size of my radiator and meant for rv's and such with 26,000lb gross vehicle weight, more than x5 my loaded weight!
  3. so i went out today for a simple mud run, and i was nailing the bog and making it my bitch with these awesome swamper tsl's. well i get ambious and try to climb this soft dirt hill, but dont get up it after a few tries in 4lo, so i back off and i start to leave, however my tires keep pulling in weird directions and i'm gettin horrible bumpsteer. so i pull over into a parking lot, dreading to look at my tre's. sure enough, the passenger side one is bent nice and good. luckily my cv's and ubs didnt blow, and its just a simple $20 fix. however, i got my trans cooler installed and plumbed before, so today wasnt a big bust. its a huge hayden 26,000lb GVW, made for rvs and fifth wheel pullers. and i got to use my new rear bumper to pull out a buddy's heep. bent tre: heep recovery system: toe in: monster trans cooler:
  4. its proven that lowering your tranny fluid temp 20 degrees doubles the life of your tranny.
  5. haha yeah most of the drills sold have a 3/8" chuck. some have 1/2", but most of those are older corded drills
  6. ideally you want to install in this order: 1. in front of ac condenser (100% efficient) 2. between condenser and radiator (70% effcient) 3. behind radiator (55% efficient) i just installed a hayden 405 26,000lb fin/tube motorhome/5th wheel tower cooler. its a beast, half the size of my radiator! im hoping that i wont have to get my trans rebuilt again
  7. welcome back! get it running for this summer and we can have another evans creek run
  8. nice bumper sag hahaha. i imagine how tired you are after all that. hell i had another guy helpeing me an it still took us 8 hours. definately worth it though
  9. its not that established members dont like answering easy questions, its just when one member repeatly asks questions over and over again about things that are easily answered by 5 minutes witht the search feature. this is an incredible database full of information that hasnt been tapped to its full potential by many members. use it first, and then ask your question. 9/10 youre gonna find the answer, and then you can add to that topic and give feedback on the method, or add problems or advice and build on it.
  10. if you look, i did not tell him to search. its just some users expect to be spoon fed every answer to every question they think of. i like a productive forum, and enjoy seeing new topics everytime i log on, however, its annoying seeing rediculus questions over and over by a member who knows how this forum works. if you dont like it, leave, its that simple, this forum isnt for everyone. i'm done in this thread
  11. i cant belive you see more value in this stupid money pit. get real, the most youll ever see a wd21 go for is $5000. low miles, ex condition, etc. unless you sas or engine swap or find a really really really stupid buyer, youre just kiddin yourself.
  12. sorry man, to far north for me. but as pickles said, take your time and do things right, its fairly easy just takes a while. geta buddy to help, stuff like loosening/tightening the body bolts and jacking really need another set of hands. not to mention one person can be messing with the engine bay stuff while the other is breaking the bolts loose. air tools are nice to have, but you can get by with a 2'-3' cheater pipe. iirc, my lift took about 8 hours, from 10am-6pm. you could spread it out over two days if you want, but its really doable in one. mine took forever because the back right bolt wouldnt thread, so we ended up drilling and enlarging the hole through the floor and running a 1/2" bolt through. back 2 bolts were a bitch to line up as well
  13. i figure that itd be best to to know the highest temperature, becasue it wont matter how cool the fluid is after the cooler, the hot stuff is burning up my tranny now!
  14. basically, if any irrepairable damage at all happens to the tire with in the first 50% of tread life, i get a new tire no questions asked. after 50%, its pro rated replacement only put about 300 miles on them so far, but they still have nubbies
  15. well doing it inline would be a whole hell of a lot easier than drilling and tapping the pan. when i do the dual coolers, i'll just put it in then.
  16. 33" Super Swamper Bias-Ply TSLs. cost $720 with lifetime warranty on cuts, rips, punctures, etc wheels were an extra $150
  17. plenty of knee clearance, its actually closer to my shin. my seat is back almost all the way since i'm a lanky guy thats my wonderful girlfriend, shes the greatest thing that has happened to me in a long time. thats the greatest mod i've done so far
  18. cut this out on the band saw and bent it up with the ole break. the blank hole is awaiting a matching trans temp gauge, as soon as i install dual explorer tranny coolers and drill and tap the pan for the sensor. Close up Blurry full view Just hit some mud, you know how that goes sly
  19. yep, bent it straight, cut the shifter, added 2" then tig welded the 3 pieces back together. fits perfectly, almost back to stock size/throw. i have another one that i will be modding and putting up for sale that came with my replacement tcase i had bought. thanks for the info, hopefully i'll be able to post some pictures up of the bumper and stuff tomorrow.
  20. so i just got done welding up my new receiver hitch bumper, and would like to tap into the wiring harness out back for brake, turn, and reverse light hookup. any ideas on where or what color?
  21. nope, calmini and 4x4parts.com sell a drop in replacement lsd for the front http://purenissan.com/r200a_lsd.htm http://www.4x4parts.com/public_html/shop/i...c46dee77e0e1603
  22. well maybe i'm wrong. they didnt spark when i put them on the beld grinder and theyre light as hell. anyways, my opnion is that they suck, and dogbone is the way to go.
  23. Before: Busted the broken one outta there: Another: Installed: So who wouldve thought that those lower control arms are not only aluminum, but hollow and thin? pretty lame if you ask me. Picked up a older set of the dogbone style arms from 87path and imediattly could feel the difference. Cast Steel > Tubular Aluminum. However, i still didnt feel like they were beefy enough for me, so i garbbed some 2"x2"x.25" angle steel for sliders and mig welded them on and painted them bright ass red to match every other part on my rig. no more bent arms for me. hell, look at those comparison pictures again!
  24. looks good, only thing i dont like is the gap between bumper and headlights. why is that there?
