  1. hey man thats an awesome mod.. i just have my switch in one of those punch out clip things by the rear defroster and such. but if i still had my fuse door id probably change over to that mod. i hate passengers playing with all my switches and such.
  2. humm maybe its a relay that isnt sealed good enough. water vapor or water might be entering it and messing up the relay. just an idea. -Alex
  3. i say just look for a new transmission and swap it yourself. it took me at max 3 weeks. but i was only working on it for like 2 hours a day. and i was asking a lot of questions. so if you have a mechanical ability to do a swap id go with swapping it. it couldnt cost more then 800 bucks. it costed me about 480 total. for fluid and the transmission. -alex
  4. is there anyone in tis forum from utah? if there is hit me up! -Alex
  5. dont take it to a rebuild place. WAYYYY TO EXPENSIVE!!! at least for me. i got a used automatic transmission for my 96 pathy for 450. it had 92 k miles and i just finished the project less then a week ago. if your mechanically inclined id go with this. the transmissions are pretty much the same so i can tell you all the tips and tricks and things NOT TO FORGET. i would look around for a used transmission. mine works better then it ever was! and i reused my old transfer case. and if any one needs a transfer case that fits the automatics i still have the newer one that came with the transmission. -Alex
  6. wont this fan short out or something if you go into deep water? i tend to do that a lot -Alex
  7. its not the crank position sensor because when i did my trans swap im still waiting on getting a new plug so right now its unplugged. i get a check engine light but i revved my all the way to redline and it ran fine. have you ran ECU codes yet?
  8. i think you might just have to drive for 10 20 feet forwards or reverse to disengage it. at least thats what i have to do sometimes on my R50
  9. i dont quite get what your saying. do you have any pictures of the probelm?
  10. cant you just make some case to put the alternator in so it like keeps water out?
  11. dang dude that took me like 30 minutes to read all 6 pages! Thats a bunch of crap you went through! im glad you have your path back. thats why i always do my own work. no people to worry about. except maybe the people i barrow tools from. how did this whole ordeal start? -Alex
  12. alright guys thanks for your help ill try out a couple of your ideas
  13. well if my crankshaft position sensor was damaged would that cause the engine not to get a spark?
  14. alright hopefully i didnt screw up valves and such.
  15. humm sounds like the problem im having. my crank angle sensor or crankshaft position sensor i think they are hte same thing got all screwed up. so i need to replace it. im still in the process but im sure thats my problem cause my pathy has all the same symptoms as yours
  16. alright thanks. if it is the timing belt. how much is it for a new one. and how do you set the timing. are there like marks on the sprockets that you line up or how does that work out?
  17. alright ill have a look at it. cause when i cranked it i only did it for about 1 second just to see if the starter was working correctly but i looked under and it was just caught on the sway bar but loosened the bolt. so i dont think it screwed up the timing cover or what ever. but should i look at the timing belt? ive never done anything with the timing before on a car so i dont have any experience. what is the timing belt made of?
  18. alright ill have a look at it. there is still a crankshaft position sensor that is all screwed up but would that cause the engine to not start?
  19. alright now that i know how to torque the bolt. why wont my engine start? when i cranked it over the first time i left the socket and ratchet on the bolt. would me not torqueing it good enough screw up the timing sprocket? so then the cams arnt doing anything. thanks for you help -Alex
  20. thats a possibility well tomorrow im going to solder the wires back into the plug part then test which way the wires go into the plug. then ill use some of those connector things you smash together.
  21. well when i was taking the transmission it ripped out the wires connecting to the plug on the crankshaft positin sensor i think i connected it back up good enough but probably not. but would this still cause it not to fire up. it cranks but no go
  22. humm alright ill try that out once i figure out why my engine wont start
  23. yeah i still had the ratchet on there and it got caught on something then loosened it. it turns over and i smell gas. i dont know why it wouldnt start. but the only guess could be that sensor.
  24. I just did my transmission swap. now the engine wont fire up. i just wanted to make sure that it ran when i put the new trans in. its still on jack stands and eveyrthing but now it wont start. could a bad crankshaft position sensor be the cause of this? also when i started it before i still had a socket on the crankshaft bolt and it spun and loosened it. i tried as hard as i could to tighten the crank bolt. could me not torqueing it to specs screw up the timing sproket? or what? SOME ONE PLEASE HELP -Alex
  25. humm alright but mines an automatic wouldnt the torque converter just spin or something? and it spins clockwise
