  1. a word of warning pathys with spare tyre carriers have bracing in the body to deal with the weight of a tyre. if you are gona put one on you need all the bracing. and from looking at my pathy theres no way to get it in there without cutting major body work

  7. hats off to Jim & the mod team, the site is great how it is! i think a change might be detramental (spelling??) a know the guildlines are fairly strict, but it makes for a very good clean site. i do agree with 88 though words like s t u p i d could be loosend a fraction. anyways other than that, i wouldnt change thesite, its worked great so far
  8. this happened to a friend of my mq patrol. the simplist of things, the petrol filler cap was stuffed, fuel was coming back up the filler. obviously you will be able to see fuel. but on the mq it was just enough to be not easily visible but enough to sink the car out. just something to very easily iliminate. (spelling????)
  9. hi and welcome this is a very common problem pull the head light switch/indicator stork off of the steering column pull it apart and clean all the metal contacts and also bend them back down due to age the contacts bend up a little and stop touching, just bend em back down the best way to do this is to pull the switch apart completely. hope to see you round the place. steve
  10. better to do it your self i think. i read one guy that did it used a bottle jack and a vice (or something to this effect) or if you think otherwise certainly do the manual work yourself, getting the links out and putting them back in, just get a pro to do the pressing. havent got any 'fitters and turners' as friends??? they really come in handy some times.... hehehe
  11. Petes made the point i was gonna make.... why do all that work and lose 4wd???? my goodness that axle in the sas pic looks small, like a tooth pic. my hat goes off to the guy for all that work, but that axle looks p i s s weak
  12. replace the bushings in the control arms at the back. this has come up a few times now. and its been a sure fix each time someone whos had the fix might pipe up soon...... best thing to do is a visual inspection of all the rubber bushings before jumping in to expensive repairs, but im sure thats it steve
  13. hi and welcome firstly. Lada Niva.... hehehehehe (i sure it served well) congrates on the pathy as for oils, im only saying wot i use, with the understanding i have. engine oil i use 'valvoline xld premium' i find its a very good clean oil that hasnt been altered by man or machine to the hilt, like synthetics have. diff and gear box i use mobilube gear oil - cant remeber the weight right now. the thing with oils is it comes down to personal preference and experience, im sure some of the other guys will say different to wot ive said.
  16. oh, i wasnt watching this post. im 20, turning 21 in Jan just like 2dr paths are the coolest, us young guys are the coolest................ he he he he he he he he he he just remeber fellas, we can have fun here too.
  17. for sure try what blizz suggested, but if it gets to the stage where you take it to a tranny shop. get the rebuid, as k9sar said. expensive yes BUT way worth it, if you are gonna keep the vehicle for a while yet (which i hope is the case!!!) its not worth doing half the job while their in there. other stuff might let go and could damage the fixed stuff.
  18. 88 - bring on the swaps im with ya, i m sick of my 4 cyl gas guzzla
  19. the only problem with conventional led's is that their viewing angles are like only 28 degress, meaning they are practically spot lights. these have like over 150 degrees, luminating the whole cluster quite well.
  20. why do you guys think of this???? i was thinking of matching my instrament cluster to my blue back light air locker switches. check it out, they're blue led's. theres a guy here in oz that makes em by hand, they plug straight in to the existing spots. COOL AY?
  21. interesting post Nick, i wanted to put my year of birth in my profile, but it wont let you unless to put in all the info, & im not down for that. or putting in bogus info - thats just crap
