Are you getting power into two wires with the headlights on? You should only have power through one wire. Is the pink/black wire on the radio side or the pathy wiring?

Just see what wire it is connecting to on the radio side. eg. If the live wire you find for the headlights is pink, see what colour the connecting wire is. If it is connecting to a black wire for example.. that would be the problem. Black wires are generally earth wires. But check the connecting wire to see if it is an earth wire regardless of colour anyway. I'd hardly say you are ignorant either. You are learning which is the complete opposite.

The travel is not only limited by the drive components. Up and down travel is dictated by the very short length of the upper and lower wishbones. Lets not forget that a 3" suspension lift is just on maximum downward travel on a Pathfinder. Hardly long travel in my book. On the plus side of things.... You guys in the US can have your wheels sick out from the body and it seems legal to do so. So unless you intend on lengthening the wishbones to achieve "long travel" I'd say you are wasting your time. You will then have to come up with something for the arse end so it is the same width. You will have a lot of hurdles to get over if you intend to go ahead with your plans. I wish you well with it.

Have your ignition off. Just have the lights on only because that seems to be the troublesome area of your install. Before you cut any wire, see where it goes to on the radio side. My hope is that it is going straight to earth. Worst case scenario is that it is shooting straight into your unit and killing it just a little bit each time before the fuse blows.

I might add that a common mistake when wiring into plugs is that people sometimes forget to wire in mirror image. Let's imagine that we are looking at the ends of both a male and female plug with four pins and the colours are the wires we have attached to each pin. An example would be.... {_*_*_*_*_] [_*_*_*_*_} On the face of it the colours seem in order, they are wrong and should be opposite each other. I have been known to do this once or twice myself when I have had other things on my mind. And I am sure I am not the only one either. Check it perhaps?

Firstly, do you know how to use a multimeter? If not post a pic of the multimeter and we can tell you how to set it. If that can not be done then you would be better off with a test light. I'd look for the live wire coming from the headlights first. You will need to have one wire (black) from your mm or check light earthed. Make sure it is a good earth! With the wire earthed and your stereo unit unplugged and your lights on, touch each pin you can see in the plug(s) separately with the other (red) wire on the mm. You should have only 1 live wire. Your properly set mm should read 12 volts when you find the live pin/wire. A check light will light up. When you find it, isolate it and check the unit works.

You can not move forward until you are able to locate the wire that is going to the lights and causing your short. Get your multimeter fixed or buy a cheap circuit test light so you can identify the live wire in the wrong spot. I wouldn't keep energising the unit either. It could be damaging it... Having said that, the unit does power up OK still doesn't it?

So you now know for sure you have a crossed wire in your install of the radio. Find the wire I'd try this. Then if the doesn't work with the plug removed, turn on your headlights and with a simple "light circuit checker" see what wire(s) are active at the plug. Check that against the unit side to make sure the wire is sending power where it is meant to.

Unplug the unit and see if the lights still blow.. It may be something else and this will at least exclude something from the equation.

Point 1 in your reply.... An hour away is hardly everywhere. Were you able to track down a fair price within that hour or would you have to look another hour to find one at a decent price? Point 2 in your reply.... Why are you cutting wires anyway?? You don't know how to use a soldering iron to undo a soldered wire? It, FYI, is exactly the same as soldering a wire, except this time you don't use solder and you pull the wires apart when the solder softens. Easy isn't it? Point 3 in your reply.... This is an absurd statement so please explain it to me. Don't bother with your pic.. you'll upset, and then incur the wrath of "fondo" and I'd hate to see him ranting again.

They are different in Australia for that year. I don't know about the States but I would assume that they are different too.

1. Availability, I have never seen one here.... Not that I bothered to ever look mind you. Just haven't had the need to. I don't want to have to hunt one down or try ebay... I have the unit and want to install it.. YESTERDAY! 2. The stereo/head unit comes with its own plug(s). 3. It is not hard to splice the stereo/head unit plug that came with your particular unit... 4. Correct me if I am wrong here but.... A "universal" adapter still has to be spliced into the stereo/head unit plug as well as the cars wiring harness doesn't it? So why use it and make the job harder with twice the splice work? 5. Money to buy this useless piece of hardware. Granted, I don't know how much one would cost but the conflicting prices here are enough to turn me off anyway. Need I go on?

Repost nearly! Find out why they are closing. I think you'll find there are valid reasons for the closures if the reasons for them are anything like they are here. Ultimately, what it comes down to is, that a few f*ckwits spoil it for everyone else and it is hard to argue the damage that these few thoughtless idiots do.

You'll have to take a pic of how the plumbing fitted in with your twin turbos.

You missed my point mz. I am referring specifically to stuff like this. The urgency is is clear and the help came thick and fast, yet we, as a collective, are none the wiser as to what the problem actually was or even if it was resolved. There are hundreds of similar postings and it doesn't add to our knowledge base. I think it is just a lack of courtesy that people don't give the final resolve and I felt compelled to rant about it..

Yep I agree 100% with jj, the Pathy engine bay is tiny, one of the smallest I have ever seen, and you'd never fit your twin turbo setup in there without spending mega $$$$$ on extensive structural and body mods.

Why don't you take your spare and see if it fits his car? That way you will know for sure.

Barr your 'coolant' reply, you have a lot of good advice. I will add to it with tyre pressure. Correct tyre pressure is vital for good fuel economy too.

I'd hasten to say the he has resolved the problem already. Has noone noticed the lack of reply? One can only assume it has been fixed. As to what the fix was.... who knows!
